JOB DESCRIPTION OPERATION RESPONSIBILTIES of LDC

All the below mentioned jobs and activities are being carried out by Operation Section, LDC under coordination and supervision of HEAD OF OPERATIONS, LDC. Please note: The jobs and activities are not limited to the following only, there are other activities which could not be foreseen and are carried out as and when arise 1. Preparation of AGC operation, interconnection schedules and metering data with close coordination to EMC. 2. Operational and plant/equipment data compilation. 3. Perform operational studies, short term load forecast, on daily basis or as and when required. 4. Prepare analysis report after major tripping, events and other reports as per management requirement. 5. To issue preliminary fault reports to the relevant Department. 6. Planning system outages, interconnection outages and unit outages with coordination of EMC, LDC Operations,T&D and Power Stations. 7. Follow up with operation section, protection and LDC for arrangement of shutdowns, testing and fault report rectification. 8. Testing and commissioning of new substation with T&D and the LDC Maintenance Engineers. 9. Update the Under Frequency Automatic Scheme with close co-operation with other departments. 10. Prepare and update the Emergency Plan and Restoration Plan with close co-operation with other departments. 11. Preparation and presentation of Standing Instructions as may be required and system operation memos from time to time. 12. Co-ordination and follow up with other departments within SEWA pertaining to the day to day works pertaining to system operation (Power Stations, concern departments of T&D, Planning .... etc.).. 13. Preparation of operational reports and statistics. 14. Co-ordination of planned shut downs of the plant and equipment of the Electrical Network. 15. Co-ordination for updating the Data Base for display due to additions, modifications and deletions in the Electrical Network. 16. Prepare a preliminary fault reports and abnormal incident reports. 17. Follow up and submit a detailed report for the reasons of the abnormal incident and recommendations for avoiding such incidents with close cooperation with other departments.

18. Organization and performance of training for SEWA staff in system operation. 19. Information exchange with other departments. 2 0 Directing and approving running arrangements of bus bars for the control of power flow and short circuit levels, to meet the requirements of system security and stability. 2 1 Utilizing EMS program to carry out different online studies to improve operations. 2 2 Follow up actual fire alarms, taking prompt actions and informing concerned section or fire brigade as necessary. 2 3 Updating and maintaining manual load shedding scheme. 2 4 Updating LFC Max and LFC Min limits for AGC control units as recommended by power station Engineer. 2 5 Informing the SEWA superiors about the network faults happened on the system immediately with first hand available information. 2 6 Maintaining continuity and security of supplies from the grid system. 2 7 Carry out remote switching operations from the system control room. Giving out Switching instructions to personnel in the field. 2 8 Maintaining a record of all events related to the operation of the system. 2 9 Prompt decision and actions during abnormal conditions of network with coordination with Transmission & Distribution Section, Power station shift in charge. 3 0 Preparing Daily Tripping & fault reports. 3 1 Maintaining log sheets and following up all the Faults/Alarms and network outages. 3 2 Monitoring the Voltage & Frequency and keeping them within their limits. 3 3 Monitoring the loading of transmission network. 3 Issuing the daily faults for control centers equipment to control centers maintenance 4 & Control Support Section. 3 Preparing tripped and faulty circuits pending/outstanding and following with concern 5 section 3 6 Preparing Alarms pending/outstanding and following with concern section 3 Following the standing instructions. Implementing the daily switching Programs Implementing the different testing in the Substations & Power Stations. Making the Peak load calculation(Log all) Completion of the Daily Peak & Min. Load Sheet for the current day. Updating Power Station Status. Updating the pending files Taking Printout of Frequency & Voltage Charts and SOE of Protection alarms during Major Tripping.
