Bodybuilding & Fitness Club of CAL U Constitution

ARTICLE I Name of Organization This organization is named The Bodybuilding & Fitness Club of CAL U. This organization currently has no affiliations. ARTICLE II Purpose The purpose of this organization is to enhance ones motivation, improve their health and body, and make personal change for success in their own lives. These accomplishments and successes can be achieved by, but not limited to following diet plans, exercise routines and through information publically available, club meetings, sports festivals, and conferences based on ones personal goals. ARTICLE III Membership Membership is open to all students, alumni, past club members, faculty, and staff of California University of Pennsylvania. Voting membership is reserved for students of California University of Pennsylvania who pay a student activity fee. Students who are on academic probation or disciplinary probation may not serve as active members of this organization. Membership will not be denied because of race, sex, or physical disability. This organization does not require the payment of dues or fees for membership. Membership in this organization is recognized by completing a current membership application. *Alumni, Faculty, and past club members can be included in a mentor capacity only and cannot hold a voting membership to the club. The responsibilities of the officers are as follows: President: The president of the organization is responsible for general planning and leadership of the student organization in accordance with the statement of purpose of the organization. The president is responsible for suggesting activities and directing group efforts. The president plans the meetings and with the officers, sets the agenda. Additional responsibilities include maintaining communication with Student Congress and other student organizations about organizational activities and promoting involvement of all organization members. The president works closely with the advisor to accomplish organizational goals within the framework of university policy. Vice President: The vice president works closely with the president to implement organization plans. The vice president should be responsible for organizing committees and providing direction to carry out activities. The vice president serves as the liaison between committees and executive board to keep a constant flow of information on responsibilities, assignments and time lines. The vice president should be prepared to provide alternatives to organization activities for consideration to the executive officers. The vice president represents the organization when the president is not available. Treasurer: The treasurer will serve as the accountant for all fiscal activity within the organization. The treasurer will keep records of all organizational activities and work closely with the Advisor and SAI Chief Financial Officer to process all fiscal transactions in a timely manner. The Treasurer will keep updated records for the organization and provide regular reports during scheduled organization meetings. It will be the responsibility of the treasurer to work with the SAI Chief Financial Officer to clarify and understand policies, or to seek general assistance with financial needs. Secretary: The secretary serves as the recorder of organization activities. Regular meetings will be documented through attendance records, recording of the agenda and minutes of each meeting. The secretary is responsible for all

correspondence for the organization and meeting notifications to the membership. No single individual may hold more than one office with the organization at one time. Section 2: Elections Elections will take place at the beginning of the fall term. Nominations are made at least one meeting in advance before the election date, which will be decided by the club. Voting will be done by the voting membership and will be fulfilled by secret ballot until all attending voting members ballots are taken and counted and an officer is elected by majority vote. An officer can be impeached or removed from office by 2/3 of the voting members present at any meeting, provided that the officer is given written notice of such action, and officer is given a chance to respond to the clubs concerns. Any office vacancy will be filled from the voting student membership by a majority vote. The successful candidate will hold the position until the next regular election of officers. ARTICLE V Meetings Meetings will be held at least once a month during the regular student academic year. ARTICLE VI Quorum In order to conduct business, a quorum of more than 50% of the active voting student membership must be present at meetings. ARTICLE VII Advisor(s) The advisor(s) must be a current faculty or staff member of California University of Pennsylvania. An advisor will be selected and approved by majority vote of the Bodybuilding and Fitness Club. An advisor can be impeached or removed from office by 2/3 of the voting members present at any meeting, provided that the advisor is given written notice of such action, and advisor is given a chance to respond to the clubs concerns. The roles of the Advisor(s) are as follows:

A. Support the participation of the student organization or contributing to the education and personal development of the students.

B. Work with the student organization, but not direct the organization's programs or activities. Advisors may offer suggestions, considerations or ideas for the group's discussion. C. Stay well informed of the plans and activities of the group. The expectation is that advisors will attend meetings and activities of the group and will consult with the officers frequently. D. Be aware of the goals and objectives of the organization and help the group evaluate its progress towards reaching these goals. E. Provide continuity within the group and be familiar with the group's history. The advisor should also be familiar with the constitution and bylaws of the organization and be prepared to assist with their interpretations. F. Should insure the group's compliance with the policies and procedures of the university. The advisor(s) needs to be aware of such policies and procedures. G. Should be aware of the general financial condition of the organization and encourage the keeping of good financial records. H. Monitor the group's functions and encourage the members to fully participate, to assume appropriate responsibility for the group's activities and co-curricular commitments. I. Become familiar with the members and their names in the organization as soon as possible. J. Assist in orienting new officers and developing their leadership skills. K. Deal with major problems or emergencies within the organization. L. Consult with members of the organization about personal problems unrelated to the organization.

ARTICLE VIII Standing Committees Standing committees for this club are: Social and Publicity, Community Service, Fundraising, and Scholarship. ARTICLE IX Executive Board The executive board consists of the officers of the club and the chairpersons of the standing committees. ARTICLE X Parliamentary Authority

The rules contained in the most recent edition of Roberts Rules of Order govern this organization in all cases of which they are applicable. Refer to [http://www.robertsrules.com/]

ARTICLE XI Amending the Constitution and Bylaws Amendments require a majority of those voting. Student Congress must approve all constitutional amendments before they become effective. Student Congress need not approve bylaw changes, kept within the parameters of this constitution. Bylaws Because this is a charter organization, no bylaws exist at this time.
