IDEA Cellular is a publicly listed company, having listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE) in March 2007. Idea is the 3rd largest mobile services operator in India, in revenue terms, and recorded a subscriber base of over 93.75 mn as of 31st May 2011. It became a pan-India integrated GSM operator covering the entire telephony landscape of the country, and expanded its NLD and ILD operations in FY 2010. During the year, Idea increased its revenue market share by over 1%, despite stiff tariff war in the market. The company has won license to offer 3G services in 11 service areas, which generate over 81% of the companys total revenue. Ideas 3G services will be launched in the year 2011. Ideas strong growth in the Indian telephony market comes from its deep penetration in the non-urban and rural markets. Idea has the highest share of rural subscribers as a percentage of total

subscribers, amongst other GSM players. In fact, two out of every three new subscribers now come from non-urban market. Ideas innovative and revolutionary VAS offering has been a major growth driver. Be it Mobile TV, which was launched for the first time in India on the Idea network; exhaustive Music library in multiple languages; DTs/ RBTs; and other content download from the world of Cinema, Music, Cricket etc. Idea has consistently grown its VAS revenue. Its revenue share of VAS is now higher than the industry average. Idea offers seamless coverage to roaming customers traveling to any part of the country, as well as to international traveling customers across over 200 countries. Ideas partnership with over 400 operators ensures that customers are always connected while on the move, within the country or other parts of the world. IDEA is the winner of The Emerging Company of the Year Award at The Economic Times Corporate Excellence Awards 2009. IDEA Cellular also received the prestigious Avaya GlobalConnect Award for being the Most Customer Responsive Company in the Telecom sector in the year 2010.

INTERNET SERVICE PROVIDER

INTRODUCTION
An ISP is a company that provides Internet connectivity to home and business customers. ISPs choose what forms of access to provide customers, ranging from traditional modem dial-up to DSL and cable modem to T1/T3 lines. Recently, ISP companies have begun to diversify and offer additional services besides Net access. These include email, Web site and database hosting, and Web site development services and tools. Also Known As: Internet Service Provider, Internet Access Provider (IAP).Examples of ISPs are Erols, Concentric and Netcom. These services offer direct, full access to the Internet at a flat, monthly rate and often provide electronic-mail service for their customers. ISPs often provide space on their servers for their customers to maintain World Wide Web (WWW) sites. Not all ISPs are commercial enterprises. Educational, governmental and nonprofit organizations also provide Internet access to their members. Examples of ISPs are Erols, Concentric and Netcom. Scope of Services

Server Management: Servers would include the NT Servers and Unix Servers including the e-mail server, etc. The following services are offered: Operations Planning and Documentation: Compaq India will develop and maintain system operations plans. These plans will be result of Compaq Indias assessment process.

System configuration changes made by or reported to Compaq India will be updated in the operations plan. Compaq India will publish a annual updated operations plan. Compaq India will not be responsible for documenting changes that are made to the environment without the knowledge of Compaq India. Troubleshooting: The objective of system management is to provide a standardized, secure, and robust computing environment for the SOFTWARE environment that has NT / Unix servers. Server Management includes the following components Monitoring of server performance and identification of operational problems before they impact user productivity. Some of the keys monitoring functions that may occur are:

Server CPU availability. Disk space and I/O. Memory availability. Response times.

Any deviation from pre-set performance thresholds will be logged and a predefined corrective action will be taken. Resolving problems identified through monitoring tools or userreported problems. The corrective action may require the need to use the Change control process. Configuring servers in response to capacity or performance analysis so as to maintain maximum performance and availability. Reporting and resolving any server/application outage. Note that this proposal includes software and basic hardware troubleshooting, but not hardware replacement. In the event hardware replacement is required, or complex hardware specific troubleshooting is required, IDEA contracted vendors for hardware support will perform these tasks.

Fault Resolution: Any event that might interrupt the services available on a system could be considered a 'fault'. Resolution of such faults would be a priority. Some of the possible events that can be construed as faults are: System 'hangs', that is, system activity pauses and the system does not respond to keystrokes. Bootstrap Failure: system fails to start-up after being powered up. System power supply failure. Hard Disk Crash - The data on the concerned disk becomes inaccessible.

User Accounts Management: User Accounts will be created with proper authorization. A standard form for user account creation/renewal will be universally used. Completed forms will be filed and preserved for future reference. Creation, renewal, deletion and modification are typical account management activities. Deletion of old user Accounts will be done without delay, as it has security implications. Also, privilege levels granted to individual accounts will be recorded separately, wherever possible. Backup and Storage Support: Information stored on the servers will be backed up in accordance with agreedupon procedures. Some of the key functions will be: Performing, and monitoring procedures for the backup of the Compaq India-operated servers. Perform file restoration for server-based data. Network Management Support Network administration and management will provide the services and support required to operate, control, and sustain the local area network environment. Services provided include:

Managing hubs and Cisco Routers Co-ordination changes to hub software Administering TCP/IP addresses Monitoring the network to resolve problems and to proactively warn of network failure. Monitoring the reachability of servers to note failures before customers become -aware of them. Monitoring network error rates and notifying service providers so that action may be taken before a serious failure occurs. Monitoring the network and escalating when network capacity is being reached and when capacity management procedures are ineffective. Tuning of the network based on analysis reports.

Reporting LAN performance. Maintain latest configuration and topology diagrams. Advise IDEA of steps needed to improve network reliability and disaster recovery. Resolution of such network faults shall be done within the time frame defined by the SLAs. IDEAS existing tools will be used to provide network management and monitoring.

Mail Server Solutions The tasks related to the training include:1. Adding new Links into the ISP Network(Adding routes at the various Routers and Switch) 2. Testing of Links(Tools include PING,TRACE etc. ) 3. Maintenance of Links(Clearing of Cache and various Log Files) Troubleshooting the links at the various Backbone Routers and Servers
