Who We Are

Our Mission: Medical Teams International is a Christian humanitarian aid organization dedicated to demonstrating the love of Christ to people affected by disaster, conflict and poverty around the world. While we are faith-based, we serve everyone in need, regardless of their faith background. We welcome volunteers of all faiths to serve with us. Mobile Dental: Our Mobile Dental program provides $7 million in free dental care each year to low-income families, the homeless and seasonal workers who lack insurance or a realistic way to pay for treatment. Volunteers: Nearly 900 dental professionals volunteer on our 12 Mobile Dental vans annually, bringing life-changing care to nearly 200,000 people in more than 20 years. Multiplying Your Gift: Thanks to our professional dental volunteers and donated supplies, every $1 you give provides more than $5 worth of dental care for a person in need.

Where We Serve
Our volunteers bring lifechanging care to people on our 11 Mobile Dental vans that travel within 39 Pacific Northwest counties. Our impact is spreading to Minnesota where we are launching a new program and where we also operate one Mobile Dental van in partnership with Ronald McDonald House Charities Upper Midwest.

Relieving PainHealing Dental Disease

Each year, thousands of people in the Pacific Northwest cannot afford basic dental care. n More than 2 million people live below the federal poverty level and cannot pay for dental care. n Nearly 42 percent of residents do not have dental insurance. Left unattended, dental disease causes speech and appearance problems making it more difficult for people to find work. Delays in getting treatment can turn simple dental problems into more serious difficulties like heart attacks and strokes. The Mobile Dental clinics of Medical Teams International bring dental care to people who would otherwise go withoutthanks to our dental volunteers, local partners and donors. Our Mobile Dental program has changed even saved-- lives for more than 17,000 people a year. We partnered with Medical Teams International Mobile Dental to help homeless veterans who could not afford dental care. In one day, two volunteer dentists and a hygienist cared for 13 veterans who left the clinic grateful to no longer be in constant pain. The dentists and hygienist said they have never felt so needed and appreciated.

Hope Arrives at School

Eight-year-old Zoe lay in her bed unable to fall asleep. The next day at school she didnt play with her classmates. Zoe isolated herself because of relentless pain caused by an easily treatable disease: tooth decay. Then help arrived. Our Mobile Dental van was at her school. Terrified but desperate for help, Zoe hesistantly climbed aboard. Her teeth were terrible and she was fearful of even more pain, recalled volunteer dentist, Dr. Jim Toothaker. Reassuring words from the entire dental team calmed her. Dr. Jim gently explained his every move to Zoe. Soon her gums were numb and her teeth were ready for treatment. An hour later, Dr. Jim warmly congratulated Zoe, You should be very proud of yourself for being such a strong little girl! That day, Zoe was freed from pain. Our volunteers brought her life-changing healing, hope and a beautiful smile.
