Longmont Power and Communications wants to remind
customers that using LED decorative lights can be a key
part of saving money and energy at the holidays. While
traditional incandescent holiday light bulbs use 6 watts
per bulb, LED holiday lights generally use .08 watts -- a
substantial energy reduction. And LED holiday save money
as well. A typical strand of 50 lights can cost up to $4.50 to
run for the entire season. While a strand of LED lights cost
less than 6 cents. When you multiply this by the entire
number of strands used, the savings truly add up. For

birthday Party Packages
Rent an hour of room time for your childs next birthday party! Rental fee includes entry
for up to 10 people, adults included. The group rate per person will be applied for up to 20
people. Fee is due at time of booking. Cancellation Fee is $5.00 if you cancel 7 days prior
to your event. If you cancel less than 7 days prior, you will receive half your rental fee minus
the $5.00 cancellation fee.
Room rental includes tables and chairs along with pool, gym and climbing wall use before
and/or after the room rental. If you would prefer to have a dedicated hour of climbing wall
time for your group, there is an additional charge of $25.00 an hour for every 10 children.
Climbing wall birthday party reservations are not available during climbing class and/or
open climbing wall times. Climbing Wall Party Packet Information must be completed
and turned in on party day. All parents must sign the climbing wall waiver.

Large Group Rentals - In order to insure that your group will be able to use the facility
- we request any group larger than 25 people to please call and reserve the time that you
will be attending. Our pool, gym and rooms have maximum capacity numbers which
cannot be exceeded. Therefore, if you were to bring a large group to go swimming we
cannot guarantee your entrance if we are full without prior arrangements. Thank You.
FACIlITY RuleS
1. A responsible adult (parent or guardian
14 years and older) must be in the facility
with children 10 years of age and under.
Responsible adult must accompany and
stay involved in the water/facility with all
children ages 5 and under.
2. A parent must be in the spa, sauna,
or steam room with children ages 6 13.
Children under 6 years of age are not
allowed in the steam room or sauna.
3. Youth must be 16 years or older to use
the weight room and ftness area. Youth
ages 14 and 15 may be permitted to use
these areas with a parent present, or upon
successful completion of a weight room
orientation. Appropriate athletic apparel
is required.
4. A responsible adult (parent or guardian
18 and older) must be on the track with
youth under 14.
5. The Recreation Center is not responsible
for any articles lost or stolen. Lockers
are available on a daily use basis. We
encourage you to lock up your belongings
and leave your valuables at home. Locks
are available for purchase.
6. The Longmont Recreation Center is a
public, family oriented facility. Profane
language and/or abuse of people or
equipment will not be tolerated. Offenders
will be asked to leave.
7. Please report immediately any
suspicious behavior or equipment abuse
to the front desk.
8. No cotton clothing in pool.

The Longmont Ice Pavilion is proud to offer the United States
Figure Skating Basic Skills Program! This program provides
skaters with the best possible skating skills in an optimal
learning environment! Registration includes one class per
week, rental skates if needed, and a 3 or 5 visit punch pass
for public skating (depending on number classes offered for
each session). Your USFS Membership fee is included in
the cost of the class registration, no need to register for the
membership separately! Your USFS membership benefts
include a record book with stickers to keep track of the
levels completed, a member patch, a year patch, information
about skating, Sports Accident Insurance coverage and the
opportunity to participate in group lessons, exhibitions, ice
shows and Basic Skills competitions when offered.
To advance to next level in

Youth Hockey Individual Skill Development Classes
THe 3S PRoGRAM
The Longmont Ice Pavilion offers a wide variety of
youth hockey classes, each focused on specifc skill
areas! The 3S program focuses on the three skill areas
that all hockey players need for success: SKATING,
STICKHANDLING, and SHOOTING. Where the Youth
Hockey Program focuses on team play, the 3S program
focuses on individual hockey skill development.
The 3s beginner Program
Hockey is a great sport for kids, though more so than most
sports it requires a certain level of competency in order to
maximize enjoyment. To ensure an optimal experience,
participants that are new to hockey must complete the
3S Beginner program prior to enrolling into the Youth
Hockey Program. This will take one season to complete, so
participants in the 2011-2012 3S Beginner Program will be
eligible to enroll into the Youth Hockey Program for the 2012-
2013 season. New hockey participants that have no prior
skating experience must also enroll into an age appropriate
learn-to-skate class, either Snowplow Sam 1 for kids age 6
& under, or Basic Skills 1 for kids age 7 & up.

Adult learn-to-Play Hockey
Have you been a fan of hockey, thought about playing, but

are offered. Players with underdeveloped skating skills

Youth Hockey Program
The Longmont Ice Pavilion is proud to offer the USA Hockey
Youth Ice Hockey Program! This program brings the best
hockey experience to all youth players. The Longmont
Ice Pavilions program is an affordable in-house program
focusing on developing team play skills for both new and
returning players. Registration includes one practice and
one game per week, jersey, and rental hockey skates if
needed. Season runs January 2-March 11, 2012.

Room! This room is surrounded by windows, so you
can beat the heat and sun while still watching the
kiddos play! This room is available for Pool Parties
during regularly scheduled open swim hours; all
users of the room must pay the group admittance
fee. When utilizing Sunset Pool is not a priority, and
having a nice indoor meeting room before or after
golfng is; you can reserve the room anytime and not
pay an additional admittance fee.
Fee: $40 per hour plus group rate admittance fee for
all guests whether they choose to swim or not when
reserved during Open Swim Hours.

Cara Swim Team
CARA swimming is a recreational swim team for youths
ages 6-18 who are not USS swimmers. Please register for
the age group that your child will be on the frst day of
practice. Swimmers will compete according to their age
on January 1, 2011.
Pre-Requisite- 6-10 & 11-14 groups: Ability to swim
one length of pool front crawl with rotary breathing and
back crawl without stopping or using assistance.
Pre-Requisite 11-18 group: Knowledge of all 4

Preschool Program:
3-5 years old Lessons are 30 min
The preschool classes follow the American Red Cross
Level Program, but further divide the skills to provide
a learning environment better suited for preschoolers.
Preschool lessons are 30 min.
Turtle: Water Introduction
Students with no or limited water experience and who are
uncomfortable putting their face in the water.
Alligator: Skill Introduction
Students comfortable in the water will learn to float
independently on front and back for 5 seconds.
Seal: Stroke Introduction
Students who float independently will learn to swim 10 yds
without stopping and become comfortable in deep water.
Dolphin: Skill Improvement
Students who swim 10 yds and are comfortable in
deep water will learn proper breathing techniques and
elementary backstroke.
Whale: Stroke Development
Students with proper breathing will work on increasing
endurance and be introduced to sidestroke and survival float.
Parent/Child: 6 months to 3 years old
Aquababy: 6-18 month
Aquatot: 18 month - 3 yrs

Parent and child will be coached using a variety of games
and techniques individualized to maximize success in
water comfort and skills. Sessions can and should be
repeated. A drop-in option is offered during Saturday

Water explorers
2 - 3 years old Classes are 30 min
Not yet old enough for learn-to-swim lessons? Ready to be in
the water without mom or dad? Your preschooler will explore
the water through songs, games, and toys with an instructor,
and at the same time learn how to be part of a group,
understand water safety rules, and how to follow directions.
blAST! Accelerated Swim lessons
Technique-based lessons focused on developing the 4
competitive swim strokes. For those with swim team in mind.
Beginning BLAST: 5 yrs & up 40 min
Students who can glide 15 ft on front and back, swim 15
ft crawl stroke with face in the water and are comfortable
in deep water will learn freestyle with side breathing,
backstroke and breaststroke kick.
BLAST 1: 6 yrs & up 1 hr
Students who can swim 25 yards freestyle non-stop
with proper side breathing will work on endurance
and improving freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke
technique.
BLAST 2: 6 yrs & up 1 hr For advanced swimmers who
want to further improve their stroke; add butterfly, starts, and
turns, and learn to use a pace clock. Please call Centennial

American Red Cross level Program
6 yrs & up -Level 1 & 2 are 30 min Levels 3-6 are 40 min
Level 1: Water Introduction

This class is for older youth looking to build confidence
in their swimming skills while working with people around
their same age. Group work, enhanced by individualized
instruction, will assure you get what you need to become
a confident swimmer.
Special needs Swim lessons
6 yrs & up Lessons are 30 min
We welcome kids of all physical and intellectual abilities
in our learn-to-swim programs, as well as offering these
adapted swim lessons for individuals with special needs
not ready or comfortable participating in larger group
lessons. Geared for higher functioning individuals, or
individuals with a self-provided caregiver.

nFl Punt Pass & Kick Competition FRee!
Plan now for the exciting 2011 NFL Punt, Pass & Kick
Competition, co-sponsored in Colorado by the Colorado
Parks and Recreation Association and hosted by the
City of Longmont Recreation Services. Participants will
compete with boys or girls their age in three football skills
(punt, pass & kick) in four age groups: 6-7, 8-9, 10-11, 12-
13 and 14-15 (age as of December 31, 2011). Winners
in each age and gender advance through sectional and
team (Broncos) competition with six winners selected for
the national competition held at an AFC Playoff game.
The local competition will be held at Sandstone Ranch
Community Park, 3001 E. Hwy 119.

The Longmont Recreation Center, St Vrain Memorial
Building and Centennial Pool are City of Longmont operated
and insured facilities. Therefore, only City employees can
perform Personal Training within City facilities.
Personal Training
Training can include core and balance training, basic weight
training, nutrition advice and muscle building. Individual
workout programs can be designed to ft all your ftness
needs. Sport specifc and rehab programs also available.

Designed for those who already know their ftness levels but
want to monitor their body composition. Includes: height,
weight, BMI, body fat %, waist-to-hip ratio and circumferences

Body Analysis: Muscular Balance Assessment
Determine your relative muscular balance between the major
muscle groups and right to left. Receive a consultation on
what injuries and chronic pains imbalance can cause and how
to adapt your workout to rebalance your body. Includes: all
major muscle groups of the upper and lower body, shoulder
and hip rotators, muscular strength and muscular endurance
testing as well as independent right and left side analysis

Diet Analysis
Record your food intake for 5 days and receive a detailed
printout of individual meal analysis as well as average
daily calories, vitamin and mineral intake, and grams of
carbohydrates, fats and proteins consumed. Results are
compared to the RDA for each category.

Elder Abuse Awareness Awards
On June 9, Boulder County District Attorney
Stan Garnett assisted the Boulder County
Adult Protection Review Team in honoring
a number of individuals for their eforts
on behalf of elders in Boulder County who
have been victims of elder abuse. Those
recognized from Longmont were:
Detective Steven Desmond for his incredible
work on several cases involving fraud and
scams against older adults.
Master Police Ofcer Chris Merkle for
his commitment of time and skill as a
trainer providing education to other law
enforcement staf on how to recognize and
respond to elder abuse situations.
Senior Services staf member Kari Grotting
and Senior Services Bill Payer Volunteer
Audrey Rowe for their work in supporting a
crime victim and their signifcant assistance
to Longmont police.

Sandstone Visitor Center

The Sandstone Visitor Center includes hands-on displays on environmental features of the area,
as well as history of the Coffn family who homesteaded the site, and other early Longmont
history. The 1880s era homestead includes historical and environmental hands-on displays in

There is no admission fee to the Visitor Center.
