2. EVER LEARNER MAHENDRA MODI

I have always been a learner with original curiosity and an intense desire to learn as much as I can and as much as god permits. At a very early age in life when I had to switch over from primary

Burmese medium school to Hindi-English medium school,

my mother told me two things: Always keep your curiosity alive to learn whatever comes your way in life and secondly, never lose confidence to learn it. At a very later age when I was reading swami Vivekananda I came across an incident in his writing where an American student asked him that can there be anything worse than losing a girlfriend? Vivekananda said yes, it is worse to lose confidence to gain another girlfriend. So, I applied it in a different way, the question we frequently ask is can there be anything worse than losing happiness? And my answer is Yes, it is worse to lose confidence to regain happiness. My learning takes place in two areas. One, external and another internal. As far as external learning goes, my journey in life began with learning Burmese language and then English, Hindi, all

other academic subjects, especially mathematics and science .I graduated in chemistry and also in education to
become a qualified teacher. As far as extra subjects of interest are concern, they vary from astrology, numerology, mind power

training to yoga and meditation.

I received phone calls from many of my ex-students communicating on various subjects and one of my ex-student of

1984 batch, Ketan Mehta who is in Mumbai working with stock market told me that he was very much upset and
concerned with the situation that is the depression and frustration that his students coming to his chartered accountancy firm were facing during their academic life and also their working. He wanted me to suggest few things that can help generally all students or youth of India who form a majority of our population. As such, there are no shortcuts to success but in making effort to strive for glorious performance, one needs to work intelligently rather than work very hard. Secondly, whatever a youth is supposed to learn at different levels, he or she should genuinely learn and not resort to cosmetic learning. By cosmetic learning, I wish to draw attention to all those types of learning which have no application value and which do not add anything in terms of skill and knowledge. During my working as a teacher in Fatima convent high school,

Bhavnagar in 1986, we introduced computer as a subject of

extra learning. Those were the days of the beginning of computer evolution in India. The hardware that I began with was an HCL

busybee with two floppy drives and a green phosphor monitor

and keyboard, there were no mouse. The operating system that we use was DOS 3.2 version and basic programming language. From then onwards, I was fortunate to work with all types of hardware like PC/XT, PC/AT, PC 286, PC 386 and right up to

the present mega configuration of enormous hard disks, super high memory and all other forms of connectivity. On the software side, the journey started with dos and basic right up to

windows7 and dot net and VB.

During this all type of learning, I thoroughly enjoyed all movements of success and failure. Failures taught me what the computer hardware and software would not support and successes taught me what result can be acquired in this field. Even in this area I very keenly follow what is happening since

information technology and information system. I am

absolutely thrilled and charmed by all developments in these

areas, especially cloud computing, embedded processor technology and image processing. With profound humility I thank god, my parents, my teachers and all sources of
learning who has kept me alive as an ever learner.

3. NETWORKING OF ISOLATED HB
World today is a super network of isolated HB i.e. human being.
Networking and isolation sometimes indicate quite contradictory meaning. I wish to indicate that most of the human beings connected by high network feel quite isolated within. The communication on such networks is sometimes quite formal or hypocritical or in some cases antisocial and criminal. Most of the time whatever happens in this world is comprehended at mental level and its effect at emotional and sentimental level go unnoticed for a long time. Sometimes we fail to realize that everything happening in this world is just adding more and more problems, bigger and bigger problems and inventing new problems that never existed before. This may sound little shocking and funny but if somebody can make a formal study of any one of the problem in the world then I would be proved statistically correct. The industry on the whole and the profession, the politicians and the governing machinery are only interested in creating new problems by providing socalled solutions to the old problems and thus try and grow on problems of this world. For example a boom in the auto industry can give rise to innumerable problems which you require solutions which in turn will generate many new problems. This is just one example likewise ,starting from food which is mostly

adulterated, contaminated and junk to medicines, healthcare, finance, security, weather all are unstable and

unpredictable. For example never before had we heard any country going bankrupt. Thus at a macro level or at a micro level life is very unstable and unpredictable. A common man today has totally lost freedom weather in a democratic country or autocratic monarchy rule. This again may sound little strange but it is true because only the type of governing machinery is changed but the ruler and the ruled phenomenon in a different way still remains. He is bombarded with so many irrelevant news, information, events that he has lost relevance with himself. This generates a dual identity than and the battle between this dual identity goes on forever. According to me, there are not only disease viruses like h1n1 but there are viruses like n1m1 (news virus) e1m1 (entertainment

virus) and s1m1 (sports virus). Everywhere in the world those

people born around 1980s are in their thirties and those born around 1990s are in their youth. In 1980s the computers and the internet and then all the hi-tech revolutions began and people in this age group have grown up with this h1m1 virus (hi-tech

virus). The above mentioned situations thus indicate a very grim

and a horrifying image of the present world. In fact, I have not touched terrorism, corruption, and many more vices which this world is facing. All this are the outcomes of our gross inability to understand, monitor and control all the systems that we have generated. But amidst all these grim, horrifying, terrifying situations of the world a person or an individual can still live very very happily and in fact enjoy enormously in this world by knowing how to manage his system. I strongly believe that there are very simple

solutions to living a full-fledged life without creating any nuisance in this world. My next few chapters will stride an attempt to provide simple solutions to stay happy and sustain happiness.

4. Problem In Understanding Problem

Let me begin with a small humor. Once, a patient went to a doctor and complained that he has terrible pain all over his body. He indicated it by pointing with his first finger, pressing his finger on his head. He said, This is painful. Then with the same finger he pressed on his chest and said the same thing. Then pressed the same finger on his stomach and said this is very painful. The doctor laughed and said Gentleman, you dont have pain allover your body but only your fingers with which you are pressing allover is injured and painful. The patient never realized that using a painful finger he was having an illusive pain all over the body. Of course, this is just a humor. Something very similar happens to us in life when we try to understand or express our problem. Our existence is an integrated form of physical, mental, emotional, intellectual

and spiritual entities. It is possible that at a given moment all

the above mentioned entities may not be very stable or normal. We mostly understand or analyze and seek solution to problems using our mental and intellectual faculties. In doing so it is very likely that we are not able to justify the situation or the event which is creating problems.

Our happiness is an undefined term but we can get an idea or experience of it when physically, mentally, emotionally we feel good or excited or enjoy a sense of harmony. This can be due to innumerable reasons for internal and external. These experience whereas from individual to individual and the extent to which he/she enjoys happiness whereas in time and intensities. But this experience is interrupted by problem at any physical or mental or emotional or financial or relational or work environment or many other factors and the list is endless. This does not mean that if the endless factors can interrupt our happiness then the sum total of our experience would be unhappiness. The reason being that our system management knowledge of designing, regulating, monitoring, controlling our system are so well developed that we can remain Happy for a long time.

I feel very sad when people go to all sorts of seminars, shibir or to many other places which blame to provide solution and spend thousands of rupees to get temporary solutions and then again they are advised to go for advanced seminars, training, healing camps, again spending thousands of rupees and get caught in such spirals. Humorously speaking it is like DO THIS, DO THAT AND JGTH (just go

to hell). By GODs blessing we shall try to break this spiral and independently manage our own HAPPINESS SYSTEM.

5. Transformation to everlasting happinesss

Generally speaking, in a civilized human society, we as human being undergo different phases of life which can be broken up roughly as life under the age of 18 to 20, life between 20 to 40 which we usually recognize as middle age, life between 40 and 60, and life after 60 where we usually call people as senior citizens. During this different phases of life our growth and development, our joys and sorrows, our successes and failures, our relational framework differ. So, at every stage our requirements to achieve happiness differs and actually it differs from person to person depending upon his/ her life, destiny and his/ her belief. Thus there is never a universal solution for everyone and at every stage to remain happy but the sources through which an individual acquire happiness may differ but the system through which he/ she can manage and sustain happiness can be universal except that it will differ for the age group. Mostly everyone in human society devise their own system to live life and remain happy. But, the real problem starts when they are inefficient and ineffective in managing their system and most of the time they live life without transforming

themselves into a stable confident happy person and thus they keep on making changes which are sometimes effective and sometimes ineffective. So, the real key or the master key or the golden key, whatever one may call lies in transformation. Of course it is not very easy for everyone to be knowledgeable enough to transform themselves so initial help from any external source is required to train them so that they learn how to manage their system than stay happy. When i mention system, one must understand that i am pointing towards physical, mental, emotional, intellectual, spiritual system. One more significant aspect involves our proper understanding of the concept of system. the concept of system acquired wonderful clarity during computer evolution. Previously, people thought of system as something that works either naturally or manually. The INPUT- PROCESS- OUTPUT view of system gain momentum during computer age. This basic concept of system applied to all different system gives us a unique way of looking at things and helping us to make changes which are effective. Thus my approach an attempt is very scientific and i have used mathematical concepts to develop a system which will transform a person into a stable, confident, happy person.

6. YOU HAVE MADE IT

I wish to express my confidence in all the readers of this book in their ability to gain everlasting happiness. I am not making an overstatement when I say this because my curiosity to watch the achievement of human spirit has shown me that the sky is the limit for achievement and these days I dont have any hesitation in saying that it is beyond skys limit. Human spirit is gifted with the ability to achieve whatever it determines to achieve. There are absolutely great examples of achievements of human spirit whether it is in space or medicine or any other field that we take. Our spirit to entertain ourself has been manifestous in so many various aspects of music, sports, and races and games that it has become a major part of human existence. Sometimes, I think that glamorous marriages will happen on moon and mars and tourism professional would invite people to enjoy tsunami from a very comfortable length from it happening and other entertainment Medias would invite people to enjoy and participate in a mock terrorist attack or enjoy a titanic experience. These ideas and many more exhibit the undaunted and adventurous spirit of human being and I do not think there will ever be an end to it. Some of the adventure sports that are devised today were never there and people have not imagined it or people had no idea about it. Thus, to

convert every advert situation into a comfort and enjoyable situation is the spirit of human species. I have tremendous confidence in this ability of human species and this gives me an opportunity to express my ideas and methods and of course my experience of everlasting happiness. I agree that some readers may get immediate benefit, some may have to try again and again but ultimately if there is a desire to be happy then there is nothing that can stop a person from becoming happy. I would suggest and offer many optionssome of them very simple and easier ones, some may be a bit difficult or others may require a repeated attempt. There are no prescribed solutions but each and every method has definite result and everyone has free choice to make. Once again with all due respect to every reader I love to express my confidence in their ability to achieve whatever they desire and remain happy. I am only simplifying certain complex situations, re- organizing thought processes, and restoring confidence in every individual to succeed. GOD BLESS EVERYONE.

7. COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS

My assumption is if you are reading this book then you are comfortably conversion with English language and you belong to good literate class which should be considered as a blessing. I am again reminded of a very well-known story where a teacher asks the students to make a line shorter without touching it. He drew a line on the black board and invited anyone who can make it shorter without touching it. A student came forward, took a chalk from the chalk box and drew a line longer than the previous line next to it. The previous line drawn by the teacher automatically became shorter without being touched. The teacher congratulated the student and told him to always remember this in life and he will never be unhappy. The practical problems that we have in our life is that the problems that we have are blown out of proportion by us and so under the pressure of the self-created magnitude of our problem, we become unhappy and helpless. The impact of this problem can be reduced if we think simultaneously of the comfort or the happiness that we have which is larger than the problem. So, the underlying principle is that reduce the impact and significance of your problem by thinking about the comfort or the happiness that you have which is larger and more significant.

In my conversation and experiences in life, I find that happiness is related to sensitivity either mental or emotional of a person. As we grow up, we develop certain likes and dislikes and later on we become very sensitive and sometimes over responses to different aspects of our life. This sensitivity needs to be tailored in such a way that it does not push us towards unhappiness. When I talk about the same problem to five different people, I have five different types of concerns, fears and unhappiness about it. When I analyze it, it boils down to different sensitivities of the people. Some take it on the face value, some go little further and connect it to some more aspects, and some brave people go even further to connect it to imaginary fears and make a horror movie out of it. So, in our effort to find solutions and reduce our unhappiness, we must check what our sensitivity to the problem is and try to understand in right perspective. Thus, my basic suggestion to solve problems and reduce unhappiness so that we can be more happy for a longer time, is that make a conscious effort to reduce the impact and significance of the problem by appreciating the greater comforts and happiness that you have and check ones sensitivity towards the problem with a view to reduce the over sensitivities so that the problem is understood and seen in correct perspective.
