(Saint Augustine Church, Barberton, OH) (August 14, 2011)

TWENTIETH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

Everyone tried to dismiss her, but the woman in todays gospel would not go away. Her persistence resulted in her daughters cure. Persistence is a virtue of parenting. We must persist in teaching our children, advocating for them, being models for them and loving them. Parenting is a lifetime career. (Insert graphic 1106-0086) 364 Holy Hours were kept before the Blessed Sacrament this past week. You can pray anywhere, it is true, but the personal relationship with Jesus Christ that grows with time in prayer before the Blessed Sacrament is a unique source of encouragement and peace. It is only by drawing closer to Jesus Christ that we can truly draw closer to each other, in our families and in our worlds. For any relationship to grow in love there must be time spent in the presence of the one we love. Do you know that 85% of the adorers make more than one holy hour a week? If you have any questions, just ask an adorer, and they will tell you how easy it really is. Please call Judy at 330212-0926. Attention Holy Hour captains: there will be a meeting on Saturday, August 20 at 10:15am in the rectory, please plan on attending.
My Dear Parishioners: As you know, Pope John Paul II called for a new English translation of the Roman Missal. We are now preparing in earnest to welcome the new translation of the Roman Missal when we begin the upcoming season of Advent. It is an exciting time in the life of our church as we look to grow in our understanding of the great mystery that is the source and summit of our faith. Today, every family will receive a booklet at Mass explaining these changes. Over the next several weeks, until the Season of Advent, there will be a catechetical moment at the beginning of the Celebration of the Mass explaining the changes and inserts in the bulletin. I know change is not easy, but this is an opportunity to immerse ourselves in the greatest treasure given to us by God through Jesus Christ, the Celebration of the Eucharist. Christs Peace Fr. David (Insert Graphic 2404-0106.tif)
