Understanding Iraq contains an overview of the history of Iraq, from ancient to present day Iraq. It includes a history of the U.S. involvement of Iraq and what we can expect the future of Iraq to look like. This source gives a brief description of events that helped shape present day Iraq but does not go into much detail. This author does a good job at being unbiased and not heavily opinionated.

Fattah, Hala. A Brief History of Iraq. New York City: Checkmark Books, 2009. A Brief History of Iraq contains information about the different forces, religions, and sects that have had an influence on helping shape present day Iraq. This book talks about the struggles Iraq faced from ancient Mesopotamia to current events such as the fall of Saddam Hussein. This book contains mostly facts and very little opinion. The author goes into a lot of detail about the foreign powers who controlled Iraq for centuries.

Ellis, Deborah. Children of War : Voices of Iraqi Refugees. Toronto: Groundwood Books, 2009. The Children of War contains interviews of children that were affected in some way by the war in Iraq. This book contains interviews and stories of many children, some are refuges, homeless, orphans, or have lost a family member because of the war in Iraq. This source is unique because it contains information on the Iraq war from a childs perspective. This source is very reliable because the children tell it how it is and the stories are realistic.

Minear, Larry. Through Veterans Eyes : The Iraq and Afghanistan Experience. Dulles: Potomac Books, Inc., 2010. Through Veterans Eyes is a book that contains war stories from veterans that fought in the Iraq or Afghanistan wars. The stories tell how the events in these wars affected the veterans

personal lives. This source contains personal views on the war in Iraq. This book is easy to understand and a lot of information about the reality of war can be gathered from it.

Inside the Iraq War, is a documentary about the past six years in Iraq and the events that have happened in Iraq. This documentary contains information about battles, American kidnappings, Abu Ghraib, insurgency, and the reasons why we went to war. This film is interesting and gives details about the everyday lives of soldiers in Iraq. It contains real footage and behind the scenes information about what the war is really like.

Interrogating Saddam, is a documentary about a CIA agent interrogating Saddam during the two months before his death. This CIA agent gets information out of Saddam that shows his true intentions and the capability of his nuclear programs and relations with Al Qaeda. This film contains unbiased information about Saddam and information that he didnt reveal until the last few months of his life. This source goes into detail about the mistakes the U.S. president make in his assumptions about Saddams capability to be a threat to our country.

It recognizes the reasons why the British attempts to control Iraq failed. This source is written by a graduate of the University of London and Queen Marys college. This article is opinionated and only talks about the failures the British had trying to control Iraq and not any of Britians success.

It is a source that gives simple facts to help understand the layout of the war.

The amount of information the veterans remember is amazing and the stories are sad, honest, and realistic.

In this interview topics were discussed such as personal experiences with civilians in Iraq, views on the war, and culture in Iraq. I heard stories about Saddam and his two sons and how they tortured civilians. This interview taught me about personal experiences veterans have in Iraq. It made the topic I was researching more realistic and clear.

This article talks about the Persian Gulf War and the stages and time line of the war. This source talks about allies between countries and a debate between an American citizen and an Iraqi citizen. This source gives dates for when specific events happened which is helpful to know. This article is basic and easy to understand while giving an adequate amount of information.

A group of Marines get ambushed in a marketplace by Iraqi insurgents. This source relives different encounters veterans had while fighting in the Iraq war and contains personal stories and experiences. The stories are told between scenes by combat veterans who experienced the situation first hand.

Inside Saddam's Reign of Terror. Prod. Tresha Mabile. Towers Productions Inc., 2006. This documentary gives an overview of Saddam Husseins presidency and how he controlled his country. Footage is shown of Baath Party members torturing and inflicting Husseins laws on civilians. This documentary provides a basic overview of how Hussein treated the civilians of Iraq. This documentary is eye-opening and gives an insight into what civilians experienced during Husseins regime.
