OUR LADY IMMACULATE, BRYN and GARSWOOD

Liverpool R.C. Archdiocesan Trustees Reg. Charity No. 232709

The Assumption of Our Lady : Today we celebrate the feast of the Assumption of Our Lady into Heaven, which the catechism describes as a singular participation in her Sons resurrection and an anticipation of the resurrection of other Christians Pope Pius XII in declaring the Assumption as the belief of the Church wrote : The immaculate Virgin, preserved free from all stain of Original Sin, when the course of her earthly life was finished, was taken up body and soul into heavenly glory and exalted by the Lord as Queen over all things so that she might be the more fully conformed to her Son, the Lord of Lords and Conqueror of sin and death. We pray that, in following her example, we may also follow her path. Many Thanks to Fr Stephen Maloney for coming to celebrate Mass last weekend. I am sure he will have reminded us all of the need to keep Vocations to the Priesthood and Religious Life at the forefront of our prayers. My thanks, too, to Fr Ommer, to Malcolm and to all who helped keep our normal cycle of liturgies going in my absence. It should be noted that, as a parish, we all rely on a small number of people who are responsible for ensuring everything is ready for Mass, Novena, Holy Hour etc., and for tidying up afterwards. From September, that burden will have to be shared by a greater number of people. Please let me know if you are willing to help. Welcome ; This weekend we are hosting a group of nearly 100 young people from the United States who are on their way to World Youth Day in Madrid. They are led by Fr Owen Ince who is originally from Ashton but is now working in the wilds of Montana in the far North West of the USA. We hope they will enjoy their brief stay in our country and pray that their experience of the World Youth Day will be filled with many blessings for them. We remember also Jonathan Berry and Rosie Whalley from our own parish who are travelling to Madrid as part of our Archdiocesan group. Walsingham Pilgrimage : On Wednesday morning of this week, our parish pilgrimage leaves for Walsingham, returning on Friday evening. Anyone who wishes petitions to be taken should hand them into the Presbytery by Tuesday evening .Please Note there will be no Novena or Holy Hour this week. Flower Arranging: Wednesday 1.30pm in the Smith Room. Bring a box with an open lid that will hold a container. You will need foliage, a bunch of spray carnations and a bunch of roses. Any problems, see Betty. Mass in Honour of Blessed Dominic Barberi at St Annes, Sutton at 6.30pm on Thursday 25th August. Many Thanks. Last weeks Collection ; Gift Aid : 390.80 Loose Plate : 213.31 Total : 604.11
