As you are aware, in terms of the Higher Education Act (Act No 101 of 1997), the HEQC performs the quality promotion and quality assurance functions of the CHE, which include the accreditation of programmes of higher education. The following process was applied with respect to your application:
The CHE is an independent statutory body established by the Higher Education Act, no. 101 of 1997. The CHE advises the Minister of Education on all higher education issues and is responsible for quality assurance and promotion through the Higher Education Quality Committee. The application was screened for completeness The application was peer reviewed and evaluated The HEQC Secretariat verified the findings reflected in the peer evaluation report Your institutions on-line application and the findings of the peer evaluation were considered by the Accreditation Committee of the HEQC at a meeting held on 01 June 2011. This Committee consists of senior academics and quality assurance managers at both public and private higher education institutions, HEQC members, and representatives of the Department of Higher Education and Training. In terms of HEQC procedure, the recommendation of the Accreditation Committee was submitted for approval to the HEQC. At its meeting of 06 July 2011, the HEQC approved the recommendation contained in the attached report. The institution is requested to take note of any provisos and due dates included in the report. Should you have any enquires with regards to the attached report, you are welcome to submit them in writing, for the attention of the Director: Programme Accreditation to Ms Rinda Smit at smit.r@che.ac.za. You are reminded that the following three requirements must at all times be satisfied. You may not recruit and enrol students until all three requirements have been satisfied. Registration of your qualifications with SAQA on the NQF; Accreditation of your learning programmes by the HEQC; and Registration as a private higher education institution by the Department of Higher Education and Training.
