Design an AuDi for the indian Metro of 2015


India is where the future of automobile design will be for two reasons: First, urbanisation in India will be very rapid and it has its own unique challenges. Personal and family transportation will see significant transformation in India. Second, innovation will come from young and fresh minds. And India is home to the worlds largest young population. Contest Categories Category I Students (below 35 years) Category II Professionals (below 35 years) Proposed Jury Panel 2 Indian domain experts 1 Representative from Knowledge Partner 2 Representatives from Audi 1 Media Person

Prizes Category I Students (below 35 years) 2nd Prize - ` 50,000 1st Prize - 6 month traineeship at Audi design studio Ingolstadt, Germany with traineeship salary Category II Professionals (below 35 years) - 1 Day Audi Driving Experience in Dubai - Flight & Hotel Costs covered Rules of Participation Eligibility Category I Students (below 35 years) Entry to the contest is open to all students. The participant must be an enrolled student in any school/college/institute and be under 35 years of age as on 31 December 2011. The participant must be an enrolled student in any school/college/institute at the time of traineeship with the Audi Design Studio Participation is open to teams and individuals. In the case of team participation, team size must not exceed 4 members. In the case of team participation, a team leader will need to be appointed. In the case of team participation, the prize money will be shared amongst members Submitted projects must be original and not currently in mass production. Projects entered previously in other competitions will not be considered eligible for entry and will face immediate disqualification. Design ideas that have previously been awarded in other competitions will not be considered eligible for entry and will face immediate disqualification. Category II Professionals (below 35 years) Entry to the contest is open to all working professionals under 35 years of age as on 31 December 2011. Professionals should be alumni of the participating institute. Participation is open to teams and individuals. In the case of team participation, team size must not exceed 4 members. Registration for Participation in the Contest All contestants intending to participate must register online on any of the below portals www.indiafutureofchange.com, www.audi.in, facebook.com/audiindia

Process of Submission All submissions must be made online through www.indiafutureofchange.com. Hard copies will not be accepted. The design idea must be accompanied by a concise concept note in a language of your choice, not exceeding 500 words. The note must explain the thought behind the work, its practical implementation and relevance to the context. The design will need to be submitted in a pre-designed template which could be downloaded upon registration. The design template will be in the form of: a. Adobe Indesign file b. Coreldraw file c. Powerpoint file The participant can use the submission template in any of the softwares, convert the template into a PDF document and submit the entry. The format of the submission document will comprise of: a. Problem definition/need finding/background b. Analysis/insights/design opportunities and redefined design goals c. Design solution d. Detailed drawing/rendering of the product or schematic map of the process/system Each entry (inclusive of all files submitted) should not exceed 10 MB. The designs entered may not be marked with any form of identification (name, logo, etc.). Entries will be disqualified if they are marked. All submissions must carry an accompanying Letter of Acknowledgement, giving credit to information sources, image resources etc., wherever applicable. The designs should be submitted electronically to audidesign@indiafutureofchange.com by 15 October 2011, by 1700 hrs IST.

Technical Criteria The design idea must be innovative in its form and concept. All submissions must be relevant in the Indian context. Feasibility of the idea will be of primary importance in the judging process. All submissions must be environment and resource-friendly and sustainable. Each contestant can submit multiple entries.

Rights and Reproduction Any moral and paternity right regarding the project sent in for the contest is the designers property. However, by submitting a design in the competition, the participant agrees to give the Organisers the first right of refusal to the exclusive use of the design. This option is valid until the end of 2012. All participants agree to allow their entries to be published or showcased by the Organisers. The Organisers retain the right to publish the submissions and permissable information associated with them and the participants in all communication exercises for the INDIA Future of Change campaign and Audi. The Organisers or any employee or agent of the Organisers will NOT be liable for: (a) any costs incurred or loss or liability suffered by the participants in relation to the programme (b) any lost expectation of profits by participant (c) any failure by participants to understand their rights in relation to Intellectual Property, or the rights of the Organisers in relation to Intellectual Property (d) any other benefit applicants may expect to gain by participating in the programme.

INDIA Future of Change may change the Terms and Conditions of participation at any time without specific notice. The amended Terms and Conditions will be effective immediately upon being posted on www.indiafutureofchange.com. Important changes to the Terms and Conditions will be highlighted on www.indiafutureofchange.com for the participants convenience; however, the participants acknowledge that it is their sole responsibility to regularly visit www.indiafutureofchange.com to read any changes to the Terms and Conditions of participation. Disputes, if any, are subject to the jurisdiction in the courts of Delhi, India only. Selection Criteria The entries will be judged on the relevance and the quality of perspective presented within the context of the contest theme. Entries will be short-listed based on adherence to clauses mentioned under Eligibility and Technical Criteria. Also, there will be weightage for overall merit of the idea. Each entry will be evaluated on criteria pertinent to the design contest themes, viz. ~ Is it a creative and innovative solution? ~ Does it address and solve an existing essential problem? ~ Is the product/service/system appropriate in its functions? ~ Does it create a satisfying user experience while using the product or service or system? ~ Does the solution follow a design process? ~ Does the solution show respect for the environment and address sustainablity issues? Emphasis will be laid on the participants conviction in the idea and the thoroughness of research and understanding of the design and its context. INDIA Future of Change may at any time and for any reason: (a) disqualify a participant from the programme if the evaluation panel or the Grand Jury in their absolute discretion, determine that such disqualification is warranted (b) discontinue the programme by posting a notice to that effect on www.indiafutureofchange.com Selection Procedure All entries will be reviewed by a panel of renowned Indian and international professionals, academicians and domain experts. There is no fixed matrix of judging criteria.
