Ministry News
ATTENTION! EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS OF HOLY COMMUNION Please stop by the Parish Office to pick up your new Certificate of Authorization effective August 1, 2011 July 31, 2013. For some 20 years, a group of Christian volunteers, including members of St. Edward the Confessor and San Felipe de Jesus, have been serving meals to the homeless and working poor in the Capistrano Beach area. In 2006 the group incorporated under the name of Welcome INN (Interfaith Needs Network), a nonprofit entity under Section 501(c)(3) of the IRS Code. If interested in serving or you want more information, you can call Madeline Wineberg, 212-3755 or go to www.welcomeinnoc.com. Spanish Classes meet every Tuesday at the Dana Point Yacht Club, 24399 Dana Drive. No Charge! Beginners classes from 11am1pm; advanced classes, 122pm. Maria Simmons 661-8827. KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS HANDI-KNIGHTS The Handi-Knights is a program to help those in our parish and the community with Household repairs that they are unable to do because of physical or financial limitations. If anyone has the need for help call Paul Prendiville 584-4149. NEW GRIEF SUPPORT GROUP A Grief support group is being formed for parents who have experienced the loss of a child (any age). We want to help you find comfort through your grief journey within a loving spiritual environment. Come join us on September 20, 2011 from 7-8:30 pm. We will be meeting on Tuesdays for 8 weeks in the Parish Room located on the second floor of the school. The group will be facilitated by professionals specializing in grief. For questions call the parish office. LEGION OF MARY Jesus said Go preach the good news to every person. You can do just that by joining our Blessed Mothers army, the Legion of Mary. Learn more on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in the church meeting room. Contact Margaret Maistro 215-9897 for more information. LADIES ROUND ROBIN BRIDGE Now is the time to sign up for the Ladies Bridge Group! We welcome all ladies of the parish to join us for monthly bridge. If you are not on our present roster and would like to join please call Lorraine @ 2480640, email, lorrainearonson@cox.net or Doris @ 240 -0138, email, dorisdeal@msn.com Our cutoff date is August 23, 2011. CHRISTIAN SERVICE NEEDS YOUR HELP The Christian Service office purchases some of our food items from Second Harvest Food Bank to serve the needy in our community, however, they are not carrying nutritious items. We are asking for donations to provide these food items, like canned meat and fish, unsweetened cereals, vegetables and canned fruits, to our clients. Once again we thank you for your help and generosity and May God Bless You! IMPORTANT PLEASE READ FOR YOUR INFORMATION Periodically, and more so of late, we have had gypsies, usually a mother with a small child, seeking money from our parishioners after the weekend Masses. While we have given them food from our Christian Service Outreach (to which they are indifferent), what they want are monetary donations. It is a racket and they prey on parishioners good will. They have been circulating among parishes and other establishments seeking money. We ask that you do not respond to their solicitation for money so as not to encourage their return. It is important to say that we are not turning our backs to the poor; rather we do not wish to condone or encourage their manipulative and sometimes aggressive behavior which is a racket for collecting money. MARRIED COUPLES PLEASE JOIN US THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 1ST All married couples are invited to join us Thursday September 1st for an evening of Living Catholic Marriage a series of topics to help husbands and wives communicate better and grow stronger in their faith. Prior to our meeting we will enjoy a potluck dinner. Come join us! For time and location, call Bob and Mary Dausch at 481-1102. CATHOLIC FAMILY LIFE WEBSITE www.familyandchurch.org

MISCARRIAGE NEEDS LOVE AND SUPPORT Natural miscarriage is a tragedy that so many people misunderstand. They are not quite sure how to console a friend or relative who has suffered this loss. While there are no magic formulas, there is one fundamental truth that needs to stay front and center: a miscarriage is the loss of a child who is just as real and has just as much value as any other child of any age. A woman who has a miscarriage is a parent who lost a child, as is the father of the child as well. www.lifenews.com
