THE SMITHS

Missionaries to Orphanage Emmanuel in Guaimaca, Honduras AUGUST 2011

Booked Solid
Im sure any hotel would love to have the occupancy rate we are having at Emmanuels Team House this year! It is rare to have a week go by without a visiting team. And while it is helpful, they do more than play with kids all day. Some have been building barns and painting houses. Some teach in our am/pm Bible studies, and some lead the worship during church. Others prepare special meals for the kids or organize activities. One pastor even led a marriage seminar for the staff. We have been very blessed to have so much help from so many people.

Corbin Turns Two

Our rst child was born on August 13, 2009 in San Antonio, TX and had his rst birthday in La Ceiba, Honduras. This month he celebrated his second birthday here at Orphanage Emmanuel. He already speaks more Spanish than English, and loves to be outside as much as possible on his foot-powered ride-on red motorcycle. When indoors, he likes to play with interactive books on the iPad and watch the Chipmunks movies. Tools, blocks, and cars are his favorite toys. He is also a proud big brother who will sit with baby sister in his lap. Happy birthday, Corbin!

Welcome, Ruth Ann Smith

Born July 21, 2011 after less than two hours of real labor, Ruth Ann weighed in at 8 lbs 13 oz and 19.5 inches in length. Charlie, his mom, and his two sisters were witnesses to the highly anticipated event. After spending less than 24 hours in the hospital, the whole gang stayed a couple of nights in a local hotel for some much needed rest and bonding time with the new baby. Abby appreciates the patience and help of Charlies mom and sisters while they were here. The rst few weeks were lled with eating, diaper changing, and of course sleeping (for Ruth that is). Now at one month of age, Mommy is grateful that Ruth has decided to spend most nights sleeping at least 4-5 hours a stretch, providing much needed rest for her parents. Charlie and Abby wish to express thanks to everyone who spent time in prayer for Ruth and her arrival, as well as those who sent gifts and words of encouragement.
