Case study.

High Tech Solutions Pvt Ltd is an IT company which caters to Retail and Corporate Businesses of Sri Lanka. They are one of the pioneers in the industry and creates custom made systems and websites. After 15 years of growth the company was sold to new owner in year 2011. After this change of ownership, companys valued staffs were not motivated as before. The organization structure was changed to a flat structure in order to reduce costs and some staffs were laid off. The existing staffs felt that they were not treated as valued important resource and left the organization. Due this reason the company has decided to recruit new staff and make necessary arrangements to retain these staff. The High Tech is also looking for avenues for growth since its in the growth stage of its product life cycle. Further the company is analyzing its strategies and intends to align it better to achieve a better vision and mission for the organization. In order to solve many problems the company has faced due to change, it has arranged to train its managers on how to motivate staffs to improve performance and planned on other training programs to improve performance and productivity. You have been appointed as new management consultant to solve many problem areas of the organization. Identify how following areas can be approached by you in relation to High Tech Solution Pvt Ltd. Main Tasks 1) The High Tech Solution has to fulfill following staff requirements: a. Web Designer b. Senior software developer Please prepare following documents to facilitate staff selection i. ii. Prepare a job advertisement for a Web Designer and Senior Software Developer. Plan an induction program for the new staffs. (P14.1.1)

2) Define the need and explain the theory of hierarchy of needs and as a consultant use this theory to motivate High Tech Solution staffs? (P14.1.2.)

3) Identify staff appraisal methods that can be used to monitor staff performance at High Tech Solutions.( P14.1.2.) 4) Currently High Tech Solutions do not have staff appraisal method therefore design a sample staff appraisal form that can be implemented at High Tech Solutions. ( P14.1.2.) 5) Explain the importance of organization structure and define the six elements of organization structure?( P14.2.1) 6) Design a suitable organization structure for High Tech Solution considering following job roles in the organization.( P14.2.1) a. b. c. d. e. f. g. h. President Vice President Web solutions Vice President Software Solutions Business Development Manager Web designers Senior and Junior Web developers Accountant Human Resource Manager

7) Prepare a budget according to following facts and figures High Tech Solution is planning on a training program for 10 of its own staffs on new IT technologies available for software developers and IT personals and intends to offer the program to other companies. It expects around 50 external participants. The trainer has to be paid Rs.1000 per participants. The participant should be provided refreshments as its a whole day program. They should be provided training material as well. Prepare a budget for this program including expenses which you believe to be relevant. (P14.2.1) 8) How do systems serve the various levels of management in a business? Identify some types of systems that High Tech Solutions can develop for its client and describe the functions.( P14.2.1)
