Case Analysis: Donner Company

The Donner Company manufactured printed circuit boards to the specifications of a variety of Electronic manufacturers. The simple technology boards or the small quantities of fast turnaround prototype boards required by these Electronic manufacturers were the contracts for the Donner Company. The contracts given to Donner Company were technologically less complex. It started in 1985 and has specialized in making circuit boards for experimental devices and for Pilot production runs. It was believed to be more adept than its competitors at anticipating and resolving the problems inherent in new designs and prototype production techniques. There are several cases where in a dearth in the number of employees has been found. The operators need to interrupt their work from 6 to 12 times per day for either work from upstream process or to seek an advice which reduces the effective work of that employee. An additional employee can be hired or from the available employees one of them can be allotted specifically for resolving the issues relating to seeking advice. A training program has to be given periodically by Mr. Arthur Dief on achieving 100% success as he was the only person who was meeting the deadlines with proper quality. The manual work involved with Plater in moving the plating tanks can be substituted by a trolley which can carry the plates automatically.
