HYDRAULIC SYSTEM IN ADVANCED LIGHT HELICOPTER (ALH) o Duration: 25/02/2011 to 23/04/2011 o Place: Final assembly, HELICOPTER DIVISION, HAL, Bangalore. Aim: The modification of hydraulic routing to the wheel brake of the Advanced Light Helicopter. This aims at providing more safety and reliability to the existing system and to reduce the expense on the production of helicopters. Abstract: Major system in helicopter works with the help of hydraulic power and hence hydraulic systems form an inevitable part in helicopters. Hydraulics used for all the operations in a helicopter like Flight Control, Wheel Braking, Landing Gear etc and they are operated by the pilot with the help of pilot sticks and rudder pedals.

The wheel brake system in a helicopter works with the hydraulic systems present. The pressurized oil present in the pressure lines are tapped and provided for the braking system. The high pressure of the oil is reduced to desired extent, used for braking and supplied back to the package. Any leak in the system can cause the whole oil to leak resulting in the failure of motion by actuators and hence in crashing of the helicopter. Hence it is important to control oil flow to the wheel brake system. This project aims at the modification of hydraulic routing to the wheel brake of the Advanced Light Helicopter. This aims at providing more safety and reliability to the existing system and to reduce the expense on the production of helicopters.
