According to its own UK website, Marie Stopes International is the UK's leading provider of sexual and reproductive healthcare services. During the three years from 2007 to 2009 inclusive, Marie Stopes clinics performed an average of 5,066 abortions per month in England alone. According to its own figures, it carried out 920,000 abortions across 43 countries in 2009. A former employee of MSI had this to say: Maria Georgiou, former abortion clinic employee, Marie Stopes in the UK Mail on Sunday (London), Abortion nurses 'are paid incentive bonuses': 9-4-2005 Quote: "Everything is geared to getting as many people in for terminations as possible." Quote: "The bonuses acted as a sales incentive, as if you were working on a perfume counter in a department store. The more people you got booked in for terminations, the better your bonus would be." Is it surprising that an organisation that kills so many unborn children has no shame in being associated with such a woman as Marie Stopes?

Marie Stopes idea of female reproductive rights was clearly that they had no right to reproduce unless they were of good racial and genetic stock. As is so often the case with people who hold such views, Stopes was supremely and perniciously confidant that she was able to judge exactly what the ideal human being is, and therefore who can marry, to whom, and how many children they may have. Stopes saw no problem in the idea of tyrannically imposing her standards on the world: this Utopia could be achieved in my lifetime, had I the power to issue inviolable edicts. Alas! That the age of beneficent autocracy has never been and is not here today!

T HE C ASE A GAINST M ARIE S TOPES

Marie Stopes is widely regarded as a pioneer for womens reproductive rights. However, it is not generally known that her work was motivated by her strongly held belief that the poor and Stopes sent Hitler a those racially and book of love poems. genetically inferior ought to be prevented from having children at all. Stopes bemoaned that society allows the diseased, the racially negligent, the thriftless, the careless, the feeble-minded, the very lowest and worst members of the community, to produce innumerable tens of thousands of stunted, warped, and inferior infants. She recommended that the power of parenthood ought no longer to be exercised by all, however inferior, as an individual right. In her 1920 work Radiant Motherhood: A Book for Those Who are Creating the Future, she advocates nothing less than the sterilisation of those totally unfit for parenthood [to] be made an immediate possibility, indeed made compulsory.

M ARIE S TOPES AND H ITLER

Stopes was a decided racist and anti-Semite. She was also an ardent fan of Adolf Hitler. As late as August 1939, just one month before we were at war with Germany, Stopes was writing to Hitler with these words: Dear Herr Hitler, Love is the greatest thing in the world: so will you accept from me these (poems) that you may allow the young people of your nation to have them? Havelock Ellis, (another pioneer of the birth control movement), noted her anti-Semitism, and she also drew critical fire for attending the Nazi-sponsored International Congress for Population Science in Berlin in 1935. During the war she wrote a poem containing the lines: Catholics and Prussians, The Jews and the Russians, All are a curse, or something worse

she cut her own son out of her will, because he insisted on marrying Mary Eyre Wallis who was myopic and therefore wore glasses. Stopes cried out that it would be a crime against his country which increasingly needs fine and perfect people. . . Mary has an inherited physical defect and morally should never bear children . . . both his father's line and mine are free from all defect. It is awful to both my husband and me that he should contaminate his splendid inheritance and make a mock of our life's work for eugenic breeding and the race . . . it is cruel to burden children with defective sight and the handicap of goggles . . . I will not in any way take part in or condone the planning of these crimes.

Stopes also practised what she preached. She once again became notorious when
Royal Mail honoured Marie Stopes by featuring her in their Women of Distinction set of stamps .
