Dear Mr. Ramachandran Akilandeswari, I came across you list of interesting books on Physics...

in which you have also mentioned about the list not being exhaustive. So here is my contribution towar ds this book list, again this list is not exhaustive, but i would like to mentio n a few more books 1.University Physics - Sears and Zemansky The reason I mention this book is because I would like to start with an intoduct ory book. I like this book for its detail and loads of problems. 2. Lectures in Theoretical Physics by Arnold Sommerfeld He was a very good physicists, his five books on theoretical physics are worth r eading as he is very clear with his explanation. A lot of concepts can be cleare d from these books. 3. Mechanics by K. R . Symon Wonderful explanations. Very challenging problems. A wide range of topics are di scussed in this book. 4. An Introduction to Mechanics by Kleppner and kolenkow I dont think I need to mention about how wonderfully well written this book is. Besides there are these very nice solved examples as well. A must read iof you w ish to get mechanics right in JAM. 5. Newtonian Mechanics by A. P. French Many people know A. P. French for his book called vibrations and waves, but he h as also written on mechanics. Whats nice in this book is that there are a lot of historical extracts and some original papers by famous physicist are printed in this book. I recommend this book for all those students who love mechanics. Try working yourself out through the tough problems in this book. 6. Mechanics - Berkley physics series There are various books published by Berkley physics series. All the authors are very good physicists, one of them, Charles Kittel is a nobel prize winner. 7. A course in theoretical Physics by Landau and Liftshitz Landau is a Nobel prize winner while Liftshitz is a very famous mathematician. T hese books are a bit advanced, but they are very precise in their explanation, b oth mathematical and physical. If you want to be a good student of physics, you must go through these books. 8. Vibrations and waves by A. P. French The name of the author speaks for the matter within the book. 9. Particle Physics - David Griffith 10. An Introduction to electrodynamics - David Griffith 11. Quantum Mechanics These books are wonderfully written. Book no. 9 is excellent on particle physics , a must read if you are interested in knowing about particles, and their standa rd models. You can also learn how to draw Feynman diagrams etc ... 12. Quantum Mechanics by Claude Cohen Tannoudji This scientist is a Nobel Prize winner and is french by origin. I have heard him speak about his theories and a general talk on physics when he visited India, M umbai in 2006. Very nice person to talk to. His voluminous books are worth buyin g. These books are a bit costly, so u can go to a good library for reading. 13. Quantum Mechanics by David Bohm

Take my advice read this book and you will learn a lot of Quantum Mechanics. 13. Quantum Mechanics by Ballentine This book is very nicely written on quantum Mechanics. It teaches you mathematic s as well as physics in the same book. 14. Quantum mechanics by Shankar An Indian by origin he was from IIT Madras. He is one of the leading scientist i n Quantum Mechanics. He is famous for his " Shankar Renormalization". 15. Quantum Mechanics by Schwinger Guess what he shared the nobel prize with richard feynman. Wonderful book, read the first few pages, and you wont be able to resist yourself from buying the boo k. 16. An Introduction to statistical Physics by R. C. Tolman I think it would take me a hell lot of time and space describe each and every bo ok here so i shall just go on and mention the book. 17. The set of thirteen books written by Wolfgang Pauli 18. Thermodynamics by Enrico Fermi 19. A Treatise on Electricity and Magnetism by James clerck Maxwell 20. An Introduction to Electrodynamics by J. D. Jackson 21. An Introduction to Relativity by Albert Einstein 22. Atomic Physics by Max Born 23. Dialogues concerning two new sciences by galileo galilie translated into eng lish by f. cajori 24. Einsteins Theory of relativity - by Max Born 25. classical mechanics by Goldstein 26. The science of mechanics by ernest march 27. Principles Of Quantum mechanics by paul dirac 28. An Introduction to optics by Jenkins and white 29. Optics by max born and emily wolf 30. Physics for the Inquiring mind by E. M. Rogers guys getting bored writing all these names of books .... i think i shall stop he re .... hope someone else takes charge from here.... i hope that this list is of some help to you ....
