ICT Policy Preamble In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth As Creator, God created

us in His image and thus we have the same disposition to be creators and we see this in our every day life how man has the unique ability to create wonderful aids to humanity, whether they be for medical needs, to make life simpler, to move us from place to place in minimal times, etc. Technology, a part of mans creation, thus follows the creative aspect which God has placed in our DNA. Unfortunately, the fall of man has deteriorated the goodness found in many of the things that he has created. As fallen people our creations are not perfect and provide limited help for our needs to communicate, interact and help humanity. Does our creative aspect get us closer to God? We can give God the glory in everything that we do, including technology. The fallen man has a tendency to also use the created tools for evil, since Satan has the ability to distort anything that is part of Creation. Satan does not want us to give us God the glory hence he will find any means by which to distort Gods creation. Technology also falls into this category. As much as man wishes for technology to be used for Gods glory it can also be distorted into something that it was not meant to be. Lets take a popular example. Facebook may have been created for a simple reason to communicate and share. It has turned into a very different tool. Was the creator of Facebook to be blamed for what it has turned out to be? Is Facebook to be blamed for what it has turned out to be? Unfortunately, people have turned it into what it is today. Fallen people. Technology is a tool that God has give us for goodness and thus we need to use it within the guidelines that God has given us. Adhering to the priciples left in the Word of God, we are to use it to glorify God. The question needed to beasked in this instance is: Am I using this for Gods Glory? If I do this will I cause people to fall or be upset? There are some of us that prefer to ban our children from the use of the Internet. I can only suggest that we look at this from a Biblical Point of view. Anything is permissible. Obviously, we need to apply care and observe where our children travel in this wide world of the internet and protect them from what is not edifying to them. Hence we filter and we work with them as to what is good and for good purposes. Any tool, wheter a knife, hammer, Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, the internet, email, can be used to glorify God. We have been entrusted that we will teach our children the right way to use these tools. On the other hand, if we give our children free reign over these tools without any guidance, we are doing them a disservice and we are not giving God the Glory.
