Submitted to : Dr. Prasanna Mohan Raj (Faculty Guide) Faculty Email: prasanna.mr@alliance.edu.in Organisation: TVS MOTOR COMPANY LIMITED INDUSTRY GUIDE: PV Shyam Mrithyunjayan (MKT/Hosur/TVS Motor) Title of Dissertation Work : Study of the consumer buying behavior for the economy segment in the domestic market. Summary of Previous Fortnight(s) report The previous report that was submitted was the IIP proposal (dated 04 05 - 2011) . The report had complete information about the organisation in which I am interning, information related to industry guide, the topic of the research and the internship duration. It also had a small write up on the scope of the work . This is the first fortnight report being submitted as part of the industry internship progamme.

Work carried out during the fortnight under report :

Designing of a questionnaire and administered:

Prepared a Questionnaire keeping into consideration the Primary Objective i.e. To Understand the Consumer Buying Behaviour for economy segement motocycles.

Under the esteemed guidance of the industry guide Mr. P.V. Shyam Mrithyunjayan and Mr. Vikas Sikka chalked down an action plan to go about the project with exploratory research first.

Conducting the Survey and Meeting the Target Group: Carried an Exploratory Survey on the basis of convenient sampling at two desiginated TVS showrooms i.e. Tristar Auto, Domalur and Meghdoot Auto, M.G. Road . Followed by random sampling at Cambridge layout and Anekal. The Survey was conducted keeping the Target Group(TG) in mind i.e. consumers who already own a motorcycle and also the consumers who are intending to own one. An absolute mix of 60 responses was recorded and administered under the guidance of the industry guides. Analysis of Data collected :

The data collected from the exploratory research was analyized and mapped with a prime focus on the attributes described by the respondents. Since, it was an exploratory research, the respondent was involved into a lot of thought process, and all those reactions were recorded, which apparently collided with the need of this reseach i.e. to know and understand the consumer buying behaviour. The outputs of the exploratory survey would now be feeded as the inputs for the primary questionnaire and would also help me understand the consumers preferrences and behaviour while responding to the final questionnaire. A lot of emphasis has been laid on the medias influence in the final questionnaire as it was found during the exploratory research that almost 95% of the respondents are influenced by the advertisments and promotions carried out by the companies to promote there products.

Problems encountered, if any :

The problem faced was in finding the exact target group and encouraging them to answer our questions. Often people are in a hurry and do not feel motivated to answer to any such random surveys. The length of the questionnaire must be short and precise so that the respondent doesnt gets irritated. All measures have been taken care to encounter this problem in future. Proposed steps during the next fortnight : The steps during the next fortnight report will be on a detailed analysis on the primary research that would proceed in a day or so. Also i would mention the reseach methodologies to be implemented so as to reach a desired conclusion.
