To transfer the client installation package and install via a desktop computer
1. 2.
Create a mobile-device based deployment folder. Transfer the mobile device client deployment folder with its contents to a computer that synchronizes with a mobile device. The deployment folder will contain- DeviceClient_WinCE5.0_arm.cab, DMInstaller_CE5.0_arm.exe, DMClientSetup_CE5.0_arm.exe, Enroll_WinCE5.0_arm.exe and DMCommonInstaller.ini.
The above files can be found under the path: <Installation Folder> \ DeviceClientDeployment \ Client Transfer \ <Language Code>.
3.
To set certain parameters in the DMCommonInstaller.ini file we need to enable and configure FSPServer in SCCM.
4. 5.
Connect the mobile device to the computer, and verify that they are synchronized. Navigate to the mobile device client deployment folder on the computer, and run DMClientXfer.exe. The Configuration Manager 2007 mobile device client is installed on the mobile device.
6.
Verify the mobile device client is installed on the mobile device. We can verify the installation of the mobile device client by:
Verifying the generation of the installation log files in the mobile device- As mobile device client installation progresses on the mobile device, log files are generated on the mobile device. The log files can be used to confirm that the installation was completed (but I was not able to find the log files generated in the device).
Verify mobile device client installation on mobile devices- On the mobile device, click Start and navigate Settings. The settings pane opens. In the settings pane, click the System tab. Open Device Management (but I am not able to see this).
We can also use one more method of installation, which is to transfer the files in the deployment folder in the mobile device and execute DMInstaller_CE5.0_arm.exe and then we can verify it as mentioned above.
1.
Created Document signing Certificate, Web Server Certificate and Client Certificate.
2.
Keep these certificates in Deployment folder along with ClientSettings.ini, deviceclient_wince5.0_arm.cab, DmClientSetup.exe, dminstaller_wince5.0_arm.exe and enroll_arm.exe.
3.
CertEnrollServer=MS Web Server FSPServerName=\\IDMSCCM EnrolledCertRenewPeriod=10 (can be any value by default it takes 7)
4.
5.
Transfer the deployment folder to the emulator and there execute dminstaller_wince5.0_arm.exe. Then go to Settings->System, there we can find the icon Device Management as expected.
