Registered Nurse- Medical/Surgical/Orthopedic Floor 2000 to Present Empire Center Hospital, Delray Beach, FL Career Progression: Registered Nurse 2005- Present Patient Care Associate 2000-2005 Recruited to provide top notch medical care to those in need including, but not limited to post op patients, orthopedic (CPM Machine/Buck Traction), OBGYN, sickle cell, SWAT/wound care/V.A.C., and thyroid. Monitor vital signs, assess change in status, assist with central line placement, incisions and drainage, pass medications, provide personal care and change nonsterile dressings. Utilize assessment skills to identify changes in patient's status and
communicate observations to medical personnel. Apply direct skilled nursing procedures, including tube feedings, peripheral intravenous therapy, and venipunctures. Interact daily with a variety of personnel including physicians, radiology technologists, other medical staff and patients; directly assisted physicians in performing invasive and non-invasive procedures. Assist with all post-op exams. Provide direct nursing care to acutely ill patients on the medical-surgical unit. Recognized for exceptional level of care to critically ill medical and trauma patients. Play an integral role in reporting patient changes in condition and symptoms to physicians. Mentor up to six nursing students per year. Provided direct patient care for the Gyn-Oncology Unit serving women with cancer and related illnesses, assisted in chemotherapy care, performed catheterizations and wound care, administered medications, and monitored IV fluids.
