DIFFERENCES BETWEEN NEST AND NNEST

The purpose of this study is to identify the general differences between NESTs and NNESTs. There are 65 third year college students majoring in English language and literature from university in South China participate in this survey. By using two phases which are questionnaire and interview. The result is the students at the top level enjoy foreign teachers classes more than the low level students who enjoy Chinese teachers class more. The low level students reported that they felt nervous in foreign teachers classes because of their in ability to express themselves properly. It is suggested the face to face style is more appropriate.

A COMPARISON OF HIGH ACHIEVERS AND LOW ACHIEVERS ATTITUDES, PERCEPTIONS, AND MOTIVATIONS.

The purpose is to investigate a comparison of high achievers and low achievers attitudes, perceptions, and motivations. There are 942 voluntary students representing over 90% of the school population. The comparison is on the response patterns of high achieving students and low achieving students. The results is high achieving students more positive in academic perceptions, motivations, goal valuation, attitude towards teachers than low achieving students. This study sought to examine differences between high achieving and low achieving high school students academic selfperceptions, attitudes toward school, attitudes toward teachers, motivation/selfregulation, and goal valuation. It is suggested researchers should investigate whether interventions that increase students academic self-perceptions or their self-regulatory skills can also improve their school performances. 115 words

USING MICROCOMPUTERS IN TEACHING

The purpose of this study was to ascertain the effect of using micro-computer assisted instruction as compared to a lecture-discussion technique in teaching principles and methods of cost recovery and investment credit on agricultural assets to graduate students in agricultural education. The study was conducted as a 3 group controlled pre- experiment graduate students from agricultural education at the university at Missouri, Columbia following the static group comparison design by involving the use of three experiment groups. The result was no significant relationship between the amount of time utilized by the students with micro computer assisted instruction and students test scores. The findings indicated that the lecture-discussion method of teaching was more effective than the microcomputer-assisted technique in teaching the principles and concepts presented under the conditions described. The recommendation is the additional studies should compare groups using a mix of traditional instructions CAI and should require groups to spend a specific amount of task. 155 words

LEARNING TO READ IN THE WAKE OF REFORM : YOUNG CHILDRENS EXPERIENCES WITH SCIENTIFICALLY BASED READING CURRICULUM

The purpose is to study what are the official literacy practices of the mandated intervention program and how do children of the study make sense of, negotiate, and appropriate their literacy practices during the lesson?. The designed of this study is using an ethnographic case study methodology in New York City public school over the course of one academic school year and the data was collected 3 days a week for 3 hours on the three children who participated in the mandated reading program. The result told the present of convergent and divergent literacy practices that occurred during the intervention program. The children are unpredictable was the conclusion. It is suggested early childhood educators need to apply a broad range of pedagogical knowledge, including practices that support the tenets of scientifically based reading instruction. 134 words

MULTILINGUAL STUDENTS IN MONOLINGUAL SCHOOLS The purpose of this study is to investigate how educators can try to enhance the status of multilingual and/so ESL children through the promotion and open use of students first languages in a monolingual classroom setting. The study involved a grade 1 and a grade 5 class of a public elementary school located on the West side of Vancouver city and combined as Buddy in a program held for 40 minutes during each Tuesday afternoon from September to June and the data was collected during the months of February and March 2007. It is conducted through initial student survey, group interview and by identifying language use. Research has shown that instructional models conducted over longer periods with at least a partial recognition of students first/home languages, assists English learners to meet with greater success. The conclusion that can be made is the issues related to teaching ESL students are rarely addressed in teacher education programs or in professional development for mainstream teachers, the quality of support is likely to depend on the expertise that teachers have picked-up on the job. 180 words
