Putri Kemuning (A folktale from East Java) Putri Kemuning and her mother live in a jungle. They are poor. Putri Kemuning is very sad because she does not have enough money to buy medicine. She then collects many woods and plans to sell them. She wants to spend the money to buy medicine. Camels have lived in some of the most desolate corners of our planet, and not only do they live, they thrive. Most large animals are unable to survive in these kinds of desolate places. This is because of their large requirement for resources such as food and water. Camels are able to use this to their advantage as a survival strategy. By living in deserts, mountains, and other arid places Camels are able to avoid predators, and others who would compete for resources. Camels are only able to do this because of their amazing ability to efficiently use the resources their environments provide. A camel can travel long distances which allow them to take advantage of the maximum number of resources. They can withstand a massive amount of dehydration which allow them to survive not only between watering holes, but sometimes between seasons. When at a watering hole camels are able to gorge themselves and rehydrate quickly. For food, camels are omnivorous. They can eat almost anything be it vegetation, meat, or bone,-- salty or sweet, a camels stomach knows no limits. But it is their temperament that is truly endeared the camel to man. Docile and sweet under a caring hand, but stubborn and angry if ill treated, the camel both wins your heart and your respect.

The king of a famous kingdom in Cipanas, West Java, is very wise man. He has a beautiful daughter. The king and queen love their daughter so much. But all their love is not enough for the princess. Even though they give her everything, she is not happy. All the jewelries that they have are not enough for her. She is not satisfied with her gorgeous look either. The princess then has an idea. She plans to put all the jewelries that they have in every single hair in her head. She wants to be the most beautiful girl in the world. So the princess goes to see her mother and father and tell them about her plan. She is very sure they will not say no. The king is surprised to hear about his daughter plan. He tries to convince her that her plan is not proper. "My Daughter, the beauty of a princess is not measured by her clothes or by the jewelry she is wearing, but by her attitude. It's not that we don't love you, but what will people think if you go through with your plan?" says the king. The princess is shocked to hear that. So she runs to her room to get her jewelry box. Then she returns to her parents. She screams: "You are so miserly. Here, I am returning the every single jewelry you ever gave me." She throes her jewelry box to her father. The wise king is outraged seeing his daughter did. "You are ungrateful daughter!" Suddenly, the floor of the palace erupts and water pours out from the crack. Tree is the largest of all plants. The tallest tree grows over 62 meters in height. Many trees also live longer than other plants. Some tree lives for thousands of years. They are oldest living things that man knows.

People think that trees are different from other plants. Most of other plant grow only for a short time and then die. People thing of trees as a permanent part of the landscape.

Trees continue to grow as long as they live. They grow new leaves and flowers. Leaves of a tree make food. The food keeps the tree alive and helps it grow. The flowers grow into fruits. The fruit contains seeds for making new trees.

Trees are different from other plants like herbs and shrubs. Most trees grow at least 4.6 to 6.1 meters, but herb and shrub are much shorter than trees. Trees have one woody stem, which is called trunk. Herbs have soft and juicy stem.
