The Spiritual Laws of Modern Wizardry Section 1: The Spiritual Laws of Modern Wizardry

Section 1 contain seven lessons that cover the four main Spiritual Laws and introduce the fundamental concepts of spiritual growth, such as who we are , why we are here and what to do about it. We hope that this section helps to make sure people are on the right path in life, and facing the right direction. As you work through the laws, note each one down on a piece of A5 card. so you can see it each day, to help keep the laws fresh in your mind.

Lesson 1: One + One = One

This is the first Spiritual law of Modern Wizardry. What do you think it means? This law is stating that although we are many (many Ones), we are all in fact One.

How could this be? The first step to understanding this, and at the root of personal spiritual development, is to know the One within. Within Modern Wizardry, we use different terms to express the same thing: The One, the Divine, the creator, God / Goddess, Universal Energy, Source, the light of unconditional love etc. Any term that you feel comfortable with is fine. You probably already have some awareness of the One within: What was it that prompted you to do this course, for example? We can all find the One within, because it is a natural part of who we are: At our core, in our soul, resides a shard of the Divine, It is part of who we are and is therefore always there. All you need to do to find it, is to: Decide you are finding it you can use a positive affirmation such as, I am finding the One within / my Higher Self/ my soul Then just relax and observe what you experience. You may find it useful to put your attention on your heart, since it is through the heart that we can connect most strongly with the unconditional love of the One, Unconditional love simply means love without conditions this love is constant, always there, always available, regardless of anything you think, say or do. It means that the One will do whatever it can to help us grow spiritually, into our true selves. Our experiences of the One within can vary from moment to moment, depending on who we are and what we need at that particular moment. Sometimes they may be very powerful. A lot of the time, it may be like a gentle presence within, that is always there, always guiding, supporting and loving us, If you can recognise, pay attention to and follow this, then it will aid immensely in your spiritual development. Being One with the One can occur instantaneously, as soon as you bring your mind to it. You can then keep your focus on that state for as long or as short a period as you like. over time, as you keep coming back to being One with the One, your connection with the One within will grow stronger and stronger. Youll naturally he more aware of it more of the time, and even when youre not consciously aware of it, the connection will still he there, guiding you and supporting you in all you do. Like all relationships, your relationship with the One within will grow and prosper with love, care and attention and a sense of fun! Practice Put this lesson into practice by being One with the One / finding the One within in the following situations: When you are on your own in a calm, relaxed and private place.

When you are out in nature. When you are with a group of friends / family. When you are at work or in some other public setting, such as a cafe.

Lesson 2: One + One = One

The second step in understanding this law is to recognize that because the One is in each and every one of us, in all living things, we are therefore all connected: we are One. This doesnt mean that we are all identical. Each of us is unique, with our subtly different vibrations and forms. However, we all share in the same energy of the Creator, that resides in our core, and in this spiritual sense we are One. It is therefore possible to connect not only with the One within yourself, but also with the One in all that is. All you need to do is to: Decide to find the One in other people or in nature. You can use a positive affirmation such as, am finding the One in this friend. Relax and observe what happens. You may find it useful to connect with the One within yourself first, so you are tuned-in, before focusing on finding the One in the world around you. When you connect with the One in others, you may recognize and experience the same sort of unconditional love, joy and peace that you experience with the One within. Through connecting with the One in others, we therefore vastly increase our connection with the One, which is positive for us, and helps us to grow spiritually. This connection with the One in others also lays the foundation for helping other people grow spiritually. When you connect with the One in others, you may feel unconditional love for that person, for their spiritual journey, for their true self, regardless of things they may have said or done. All of us are on spiritual journeys, to find, follow and be one with the One, and each persons spiritual journey is as important as any other. We all have the One within, and we are equal, we are all One, in that sense. Our paths are unique, but each persons path matters equally. In recognition of this, and out of love for each persons spiritual journey, it is natural to want to help others to grow spiritually; to do whatever you can to help others on their path, whilst keeping this in balance with progressing along your path at the same time. Through this process, we help others, and we help ourselves too. We can learn through their experiences; the lessons they learn may he relevant to us too; the One may speak to us through others. This is discussed in more detail in The Natural Mirror section of the course how events that we experience in the world around us reflect ourselves back at us, to show us things that we need to be aware of to grow spiritually.

Practice Put this lesson into practice by connecting with the One in: Someone close to you Nature (when you are out on a walk for example). Someone you havent met before or dont know well perhaps the person behind the till in a shop. Someone you dont get on so well with. Observe any experiences you have and what you and others gain from the connection.

Lesson 3: One + One = One

The third step to really understanding this law is in focusing on the One itself and what the One means to us. The previous lesson discussed how the One is in all that is. This lesson expands on that: the One is in all that is, and therefore knows all that there is to know. In addition, the One has always been a part of all that is, and therefore has knowledge and experience of all that has ever happened. The One is therefore the ultimate source of knowledge and truth. If this aspect of the One is combined with the unconditional love aspect of the One the desire to help all that is to grow spiritually then wisdom is created. The One wants to help us all grow spiritually because of the love it has for us; the One is able to help us all grow spiritually because of its complete knowledge and experience. The One is therefore the ultimate source of wisdom, and can always be turned to and trusted absolutely. The One always knows what the best thing to do is in any situation. It knows what the best path is that will help us and all that is to grow spiritually. In Modern Wizardry this path, of the One, is called the Wyrd. The word Wrrd is an Old English word meaning fate, destiny. It derives from the Proto-Indo-European base (a language around 5,500 years old) wert- which means, to turn, wind. In Modern Wizardry it is used to reflect how the One will guide us, like a wind blowing you in the right direction,

but it is our choice whether to follow this guidance or not whether or not to follow the will of the One, to walk the Wyrd. Each of us has a Wyrd to follow, one that will help us and all that is to grow spiritually, but it is our choice whether to follow it. The Wyrd is always available to us even if we havent followed it in the past, the One in its wisdom will always have a path for us to follow. Our lives are therefore not predetermined. Although they may be planned out, free will means that there are always options, alternatives. The events in our lives dont just depend on our own choices the choices of others also affects what happens to us. Therefore our Wyrds are constantly updated, modified, redirected. However, they always offer us the best possible route for spiritual growth for ourselves and all that is. Perhaps in your own life you have wished for something, thinking that you really needed it, even though something inside wasnt so sure. Maybe you ended up getting that thing you wished for, perhaps a job, relationship, appliance, to only realise its not everything you expected it to be, its not what you actually needed. This is the danger of wishing for things yourself: the One knows what you really need, so it is wise to trust in the One rather than wishing for things yourself. Learning to listen to and know what the will of the One is, what the Wyrd is, takes time and experience. On the one hand, it is very simple: all we need to do is to find and follow the will of the One. The One is within each of us, so we need to listen to what the One within is guiding us to do to what feels totally right and wise within. The One is also within all that is, so the One can also guide us through all that is through all that happens in the world around us. Whatever situation you find yourself in, it is always possible to find the One in that situation, offering everyone involved the opportunity to grow spiritually. All we need to do is to find the One within every situation that happens, and find what the One is trying to teach us through the situation. As before, the One within will guide us to find this. Although the principles of following the Wyrd are very simple, in practice it takes time and effort. The baggage we carry around with us can make it hard to hear what the One is trying to teach us. For example, we may have been brought up to believe that youre meant to do this or that with your life, that relationships are meant to work like this or that, and these social conditionings can make it hard to hear the One on these topics. One by one, each topic needs to be handed up to the One: I accept thy will, whatever that may be. Practice Apply this lesson by listening to the One within in all areas of your life. If there are areas of your life which you are worrying about and which are challenging you, you can just offer them up to the One, and accept the Ones will for it, whatever that may be. Always trust what you feel to be right within, whilst at the same time listening and watching for messages from the One in the world around you.

Lesson 4: Stop Seeking, Start Finding!

This is the second Spiritual Law of Modern Wizardry. It helps you progress on your spiritual journey by helping you find things that you decide you need perhaps a lost item, a solution to a problem, a job, a relationship, what the One is trying to teach you through something that happened in your life, what to do next in life, your Wyrd. We advise you only use it in conjunction with the last lesson: following the will of the One. If you feel you are meant to find something, that the One wills it, then this law can be very effective in helping you find it. The law distinguishes between seeking and finding. If you decide you are seeking something, then thats what youll be doing: seeking it, as opposed to finding it! Even if you do find it, if you think you are a seeker rather than a finder, you may not realize you have found it, or you may have difficulty holding on to it. If you want to find something decide to find it for This positive outlook helps brings whatever you decide to find to you, you can use positive affirmations such as, I am finding All you need to do then is to wait and see what happens. The thing you have decided to find may just appear, or you may receive guidance from the One that helps you find it. Implementing this law can really help accelerate your spiritual progression, bringing the things you need to grow into the now. Practice Apply this lesson to help you find things you feel the One wills you to find.

Lesson 5: Doubt Nothing, Question Everything

This is the third Spiritual Law of Modern Wizardry. It helps you on your spiritual journey by helping you avoid getting trapped in doubt, and by encouraging you to find answers to things you need to know to develop spiritually. The law tells you to doubt nothing. This is because when you doubt something, youre not actually asking whether something is true; you are just doubting whether something is true. Doubting is like saying, Im not sure about this, whereas questioning is like saying, Im not sure about this and therefore Im going to find out the truth. If you just remain in doubt, you may never get out of it! You may always never be sure about something, and if you dont start questioning it, you may never find out the truth. This could well lead to worrying about the issue, and to feeling bad about yourself since you havent made progress on the issue.

We therefore need to watch out for doubt, since it can really hold us back on our spiritual Path: it doesnt help us find the truth about something were not sure about, it can spiral into worry and negativity, it can stop us growing. Questioning, on the other hand, is a positive process that helps us learn new things, grow, and move forward on out spiritual path. Questioning signifies that you have decided you are going to find the answer to something you are not sure about. Its entirely natural to not know the truth about everything and to be not sure about whether something is true or not. If youre not sure about something, all you need to do is to: Identify the question you have. Ask it, to the One within or to whomever it seems right to ask it to. Decide you are finding the answer. Wait and see what happens, what answers come to you from the world around you or from within. Therefore, whenever youre not sure of anything, make sure you question it rather than allowing yourself to start doubting. This will help you keep progressing on your spiritual journey, rather than getting bogged down in doubt! Sometimes we have to wait lot the answer; it may not be given immediately. There is always a reason for this, and the plan of tile One can always be trusted in. The One will wait till the best possible time to give the answer: perhaps the answer will be given in such a powerful way that you will really remember it; perhaps the One is waiting till you are with someone else who also needs to hear the same information, so that you both learn something useful. When youre waiting for an answer to your question, it may help to remember that we may find the answer through any route the One is in all things and so can speak to us through all things. we may experience something internally that leads us to the answer perhaps a thought, feeling, vision or dream will bring something to our attention and help us find the answer, It may be something external something someone says, some event we see in the world around us, even something we smell or touch that kicks off a series of thoughts, feelings and realizations that helps us find the answer. All we need to do is to be aware that we may find the answer at any time and in any format; and then wait and watch. If we do receive what we think is an answer from the world around us, then we just need to check with the One within if our interpretation of the information is correct. Practice Apply this law to any areas of your life where youre not sure what the truth is or what the right thing to do is, such as: Where to go out for a meal. Where to go on holiday. What to do about a problem you are encountering in a friendship or at work,

Whether some spiritual experience you thought you had was real or not. What you should be doing next in life.

Lesson 6: Not Guilty by Reason of Innocence

This law is stating that you are not guilty by reason of innocence. You are not guilty of anything you have thought said or done, because at the time it happened, you were innocent you didnt know any better. If you had known better, you simply would not have done what you did! Since we are all One, this law applies equally to other people as well: others are not guilty by reason of innocence too. We normally feel guilty when we think we have done something wrong, made a mistake, hurt someone. Although it is very useful to recognise the mistakes you have made and learn from them, it is not useful to wallow in guilt. Making mistakes is a normal and useful part of life. Learning from our mistakes helps us to grow spiritually. A mistake is something that you think or feel inside, that isnt quite right, and that expresses itself in the world around you. When this happens, it encourages you, gives you a stronger motivation, to look at what it was inside you that created the mistake. Your mistake may have hurt someone, and you dont want to hurt them again, so making the mistake encourages you to look at something within, which you may have ignored for longer had you not made the mistake. We are all here to learn, to grow spiritually, so we all make mistakes; it is a natural part of our growth, and its nothing to feel guilty about. The best thing to do once you realise you have made a mistake is to understand and learn from it, so that you dont keep repeating the mistake, but learn the lesson and free yourself from hurting others in the future. It may help to think of the word mistake in this way: miss + take. You missed the mark the first time, so you need to take another turn at doing it right. If you allow yourself to feel guilty, you can end up having negative thoughts and feelings about yourself or other people. Negative thoughts and feelings are ones that arent a part of our true self: of love, joy, peace and happiness. Its easy to identify them because they feel out of place, they feel like they are jarring with our true inner selves. They take our attention away from the One, and thereby stop us growing. Guilt is one such negative thing, it doesnt help us to grow positively. We can therefore say no to guilt, but yes to recognising and learning from our mistakes in a positive way. The Time Mastery section of this course deals in more detail with resolving negative emotions such as guilt which is to be found in the Time Workshop Book. If you realise you have made a mistake, it may be that there is some action you need to take, that will help all involved to heal and to grow spiritually. For example, it may be that it is right to apologise for your mistake. Apologising, saying sorry for what you did and that it hurt them, may help all involved to heal, It may or may not also be useful for you and/or the other person to discuss what happened, so that all involved have a better understanding of what happened and why. Through this improved understanding, all involved may learn new

lessons which will be of benefit later in life, and it can aid the healing process. However, it may be that you have to wait for a certain amount of time until the time is right to apologise until the other parties involved are able to discuss what happened. It may be that its not appropriate or possible to ever discuss it with them. You could mentally send them an apology, especially if they are in the past. Your only responsibility is to listen to and follow the will of the One, and to be prepared to take whatever action is necessary to help all involved to grow in a balanced and positive way. An apology, whether said in person or mentally, could take the form of something like, I am sorry for what I did. I didnt know any better at the time. I now realise that what I did was wrong. This is what I have learnt from it (if saying this will help them). This is the action I will take (if any). I will do my best to do better in the future. The action you take could also include other ways of contributing toward healing and spiritual growth perhaps a gift, a thoughtful note, a kind act etc. Whatever action you do take, remember that it should be out of love, to help all involved grow spiritually, not out of guilt theres no need to feel guilty in the first place! Even after all this, it is still possible to worry about the other parties involved that you may have hurt; worry about whether they are OK. All we can do is trust in the will of the One, The One knows far better than anyone else what each of us needs to grow spiritually, and will do the best it can to help each of us to grow spiritually. It may even he that the other person needed to have the experience they had, to learn something that will be of immense value to them in the future. The One may work through you to help the person realise what their lesson is, but the One may not. You dont have a responsibility for fixing the mistakes you made you were innocent at the time. Your only responsibility is to follow the Wyrd. If you feel the need to, you can always ask the One to help that person (out of love for them, not guilt), but there may be no need for you to do any more than that. The one will already be doing all it can to help them anyway, but asking doesnt hurt, and may help release a hurt. Practice Apply all aspects of this lesson as needed: Recognise some mistakes you have made and identify the lessons within them. Through learning those lessons, you can free yourself from repeating them, and help yourself and others to grow. If appropriate, take some action such as apologizing to help all involved to heal and grow spiritually.

Lesson 7:

Not guilty by Reason of Innocence

As mentioned in the previous lesson, in the same way as we are not guilty by reason of innocence, the same law applies to other people that hurt you in the past did so out of innocence: they did not truly know any better at the time, if they had done, they wouldnt have acted in the way they did. Of course this doesnt mean that what they did at the time was right. However, they were innocent at the time, and it is of your benefit to do whatever you can to release any negative thoughts or feelings you may have toward them, if any. For as long as you carry them with you, they will have a negative effect on you. You can aid this process by mentally saying words such as: I am releasing any negative thoughts and feelings I have toward this person. I recognise that this person was doing their best at the time, and is innocent of the hurt they caused. I accept healing and unconditional love for myself, and wish the other person well on their journey. The Time Mastery section of this course discusses in more detail ways to deal with troubling emotions such as pain or anger. It can also help the healing process to identify something positive from whatever happened. Although there was hurt involved, remember that the One always offers each of us a wonderful path to follow, and therefore there is always something positive to be gained from every situation. Perhaps there is some very useful lesson you learnt from the event. Perhaps it is just that the event has helped make you stronger, more resilient this may be of immense value in the future! By identifying something positive from the event, it helps keep the overall event in balance the negative is balanced with the positive and this can help create healing and peace about the issue. Practice Check to see if you are holding on to any negative feelings or thoughts about situations in the past where you have been hurt. if you choose to, do your best to release that negative energy the Time Mastery section of this course may also help in this process. Try to identify something positive that you have gained out of situations where you have been hurt in the past.

Conclusion for Section 1 Congratulations on completing Section 1 Section 1 covered the main Spiritual Laws of Modern Wizardry. We hope that these guiding principles will help point you in the right direction in life, that you may rediscover your Wyrd and step forwardly more confidently in your journey. Section 2, Time Mastery, offers advice on how to keep growing all the time. It discusses ways to help you stay in natural time time when you are one with the One for as much of your time as possible. Through doing this, combined with the lessons in the later sections

of the course, you learn how to manage as well as possible, how to master your time, read the The Time workshops book by Abrielle Jones for more on this section.
