Welcome Back to Dance!

The hallways are buzzing, classes are filling up, and an excitement fills the studio rooms at Stage Door Dance Productions. Is it time for a big event? No, it is simply time to welcome everyone back to dance! Weve hung up the swimsuits, dusted off our backpacks, and made our way back to our regular routines, and this year, the studio has grown and is bigger than ever! We are thrilled to see so many familiar faces and new faces, and we anticipate that our third season will be our best season to date! In this newsletter, well feature highlights from the summer and exciting, upcoming events. At Stage Door Dance Productions, we value our clients We know you have a lot of choices in selecting your childs location for their dance education, and we are honored and humbled that you have chosen us! We truly believe in our mission statement, Stage Door Dance Productions will make dance a meaningful and inspiring experience for each dancer through contemporary and classical dance instruction that is designed to ignite and appreciation for dance and the performing arts.

Trip to See Miss Summer in the Radio City Christmas Spectacular!

We are thrilled that Miss Summer has been cast as a Rockette in the Durham & Boston casts of Radio Citys Christmas Spectacular! Well miss her while she is on leave for a portion of September, October, November, and December, but this is a great opportunity for our students to see their teacher in action! The studio will attend the Radio City Christmas Spectacular at the DPAC on Sunday, November 20th at 6pm. Well also host a pre-show reception and a post-show dinner. If your family is interested in attending, please email the studio for more info!

2011 Summer Dance Intensive

The 2011 Summer Dance Intensive was held at the studio on August 2nd-5th, 2011. The weeklong workshop featured a spectacular array of instructors including Kent Boyd and Courtney Galiano from Foxs So You Think Can Dance, Kimberly Fitch, Richie Miller, Tori Melby, Summer Renner, Mari Newlin, Danielle Norris, Sara Soni, Hanna Wentz, and Chasta Hamilton Calhoun. The week featured classes in tap, jazz, contemporary, acrobatics, hip-hop, stretch & strengthen, improvisation, audition skills, ballet, musical theatre, and Rockette style performance techniques. Over 40 students participated in this amazing experience! We encourage to check out photos of this awesome event on facebook and our website. We are so excited to announce that the studio will be participating in the 2011 Raleigh Christmas Parade.

Raleigh Christmas Parade 2011

We are so excited to announce that the studio will be participating in the 2011 Raleigh Christmas Parade on Saturday, November 19th, 2011. The event is open to all students at the studio. Parade rehearsals begin on Saturday, September 17th. If you are interested in participating, we encourage you to email to the studio this week to secure your spot of participation. Students ages 4-6 are eligible to ride on the studio float, while studio students ages 7 & up will be dancing and performing throughout the parade route. If you have any questions about this fun and festive opportunity, please contact the studio via phone or email. And, even if you dont participate, please come out and support us on parade day!

The Stage Door Elite Competitive Team has grown, and we are looking forward to an amazing 20112012 competitive season. We would like to recognize our current members. In our Petite Elite, we have: Hayley, Karli, Will, Victoria, Caroline, Haegan, Olivia, Natalie, Kameron, Breland, and Stella. In our Pizzazz Elite, we have: Parker, Sarah, Milan, Jen, Mia, Brianna, Lia, and Dara. In our Senior Elite, we have: Trevor, Jamin, Caroline, Ashley, Ariana, Sydney, Katie, Alyxandra, Veronica, Estefania, Jasmyne, and Clara. Congrats to all!

At Stage Door Dance Productions, we pride ourselves on having a professional staff that passionately teaches in an enthusiastic and motivating environment. When not at the studio, our staff is busy doing what they love: performing! Wed like to highlight some of their current performance engagements: the Blank Slate Dance company.

With a high caliber staff, it may be necessary to have substitutions throughout the year. We thank you for your patience and understanding-a highly qualified instructor will always be teaching your children! We encourage you to familiarize yourself with all of our staffs credentials via our website.

Quotes Featured in Competition Calendar

During the spring, Ms. Chasta serves as a judge on the competitive dance circuit. StarQuest International recently published a calendar sent to dance schools nationwide, and the calendar featured two quotes from Ms. Chasta (for the months of October and June, respectively). The October quote reads, Creating a dance is a lot like writing a book in that preplanning phase contributes enormously to the final product. I believe it is imperative to cast your dancers, establish a concept, determine the style, and select a costume before setting the piece. The June quote reads, Dance is about passion. Everyone at a dance competition feels a fire to dance, and I think having respect for all of those involved in the art is critical to the success of everyone. These are great words to live by, and we were so thrilled to see them shared with studios across the country!
