Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Degradation procedures (REDD) is a United Nations program to reduce carbon-dioxide emissions from deforestation and degradation. Wealthy nations provide financial support for developing nations to promote woodland preservation. In 2010, Indonesia was the first nation to set the framework for REDD. At that time, some international banking investors provided financial support for the program. The intention of the REDD program is to reward Indonesia for rainforest protection.
