Proposal for Aristos 2011 The Summer Training Project Contest Relevance: Corporate Recruiters flocking to B schools to induct

t the future professionals have high expectations from them. Conversely the curriculum is designed to correlate courses of study with the way industry or potential workplace operates its business using the latest technologies. Summer internships provide an opportunity to apply to the real work life situations the concepts & methods that they have learnt in the classroom. This contest is our endeavor to encourage students to achieve excellence in their first corporate sojourn. Objective: To develop the B-school students research aptitude & encourage application of imbibed management education during his/her summer internship in a corporate house. Guidelines: 1. The contest is open to students of all business schools who have done their summer training in the IInd Semester/ IIIrd Trimester, in the academic year 2011. There is no entrance fee for this contest. 2. The business project will be submitted in any one of the following areas: Human resource management/Financial

Management/Operations & Decision Sciences/Marketing & Strategy Management. 3. There is no restriction on submitting the same summer project to other B-school summer internship contests. There is also no restriction on the number of participants from any B school. 4. Requests for revaluation of synopsis or extension of deadlines will not be entertained. 5. The Organizers are not liable for any failure of the e-mail provider/network in case of non-receipt of contest entries within the deadline. 6. All participants of the event will receive participation certificates through post on their addresses as mentioned on the cover page of project synopsis. 7. The selected participants for the first round of ARISTOS will receive a certificate of merit along with the opportunity to compete for the second round. All the second round finalists will receive the certificate of being a finalist along with the opportunity to compete for the best two projects of the contest. Submission 1. A qualified entry should have a minimum of 1000-1200 words synopsis of the summer training project. The synopsis should

focus on the relevant aspects of the research metholody for the project. The entry should specify the functional category of the project. 2. Each entry must be authored by an individual. There is no limit to the number of entries from a single B-school. 3. All entries should be in the form of a Microsoft Word document in font Times New Roman (size 12) and single line spacing. The cover page of each entry should contain the name, institute name, e-mail address, postal address and phone number of the student along with the functional area in which the project should be considered for evaluation i.e. Human resource management& Corporate Social Responsibility /FinancialManagement/Operations/Marketing/Strategy/Information Technology.

4. These details should not be repeated anywhere else in the document. The cover page will not be counted against the word limit. 5. All synopsis submissions should be e-mailed to niilmaristos@gmail.com. The last date for submission of synopsis is 5th September, 2011. All selected entries will be announced on the contest website & intimated individually by e-mail on 19th September,2011 .

6. Acknowledgement receipt mails will be sent to all contesting participants once their project synopsis is received. 7. The selections are made through a blind review process carried out by our panel of faculty experts. Finals Event 1. The best five projects in each category will be presented before a faculty panel on 14th October, 2011 in the first round. 2. They will have 15 minutes (strictly maintained) to present their plans and another 5 minutes for questions from the judges. 3. The best project in each category [ six ] will qualify for the second & final round & present their projects before a distinguished panel of industry mentors for selection of the best three projects of the contest. 3. The participants will have to make their own arrangements for travel. 4. Accommodation will be provided by the organizers. 5. The decision of the judges would be final and binding. Any dispute arising out of or in relation to this contest shall be governed by the laws of India and shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Courts at Delhi.

Submission criteria For the open submission process , students will submit a Project Synopsis of summer project in 1000-1200 words .Numbers contained in financial tables or statements will not be counted in the word count, all attachments are included in the page count. Below is a suggested template for students to use when developing their Project synopsis. Focus Area A. Formulating the research problem Key Questions to Address Development of research design & working hypothesis with the limitations

B. Sample design & Data Collection C. Data Analysis & Hypothesis Testing D. Generalizations & Interpretations

Accuracy of sample design, validity & reliability of data Appropriateness of the method of analysis, level of significance Key findings & recommendations

All submissions will be evaluated in all equally weighted areas. When evaluating, judges will be asked to consider (and provide narrative feedback for the selected participants) a variety of questions associated with each area. For evaluation, following criteria will be judged: What is the study attempting to achieve? Will it provide direction for determining actionable steps? If not, is there a need for this project? Before conducting the research, has the student explored all available secondary sources? Has he thought through all possible hypotheses? Do the samples focus on the target consumers that study aims to reach? Are the questions based on sound qualitative knowledge of the market? Do the questions cover all aspects of the issues? Is the methodology logical? Do the findings & analysis appear logical and reasonable?

Are the recommendations mentioned in the report feasible for implementation in the organisation?
