A Step by Step Introduction

Section 1 Getting Started


When you receive your Linksys PAP2 it should contains the following items: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Linksys PAP2 Power supply Phone cable Network cable Quickstart guide

Setting up the hardware: Step 1: Connect the power cable to your PAP2 Step 2: Connect the network cable from your PAP2 to your DHCP enabled modem/router Step 3: Connect an analogue phone to the Phone 1 port in the PAP2. Step 4: Turn the power on Step 5: Pick up the phone and dial **** (You should hear a voice saying Sipura Configuration Menu) Step 6: Dial 110# (Write down the IP address that is returned)

Section 2 Configuring the Linksys PAP2 via the Web Interface


Once you have the IP address of your PAP2 you can access the web interface by opening a web browser and typing the following in the Address : http://<IP Address of PAP2> For example: http://192.168.1.10

You should now see the Linksys PAP2 Phone Adapter Configuration screen. Now you will need to log into the unit as Administrator and change the view to advanced. See images below.

Click on Admin Login

Click on switch to advanced view

Note: You can also go directly to the admin/advanced section by typing http://192.168.1.10/admin/advanced

Section 3 Regional Settings

Click on the Regional tab.

The following changes are optional, however they will make your Linksys PAP2 sound more Australian. Under the Call Progress Tones change: Dial tone: Busy Tone: Reorder Tone: Ring Back Tone: MWI Dial Tone: 400@-19,425@-19,450@-19;10(*/0/1+2+3) 425@-19;10(.375/.375/1) 425@-19, 425@-29;60(.375/.375/1,.375/.375/2) 400@-19,425@-19,450@-19;*(.4/.2/1+2+3,.4/2/1+2+3) 400@-19,425@-19,450@-19;2(.1/.1/1+2);10(*/0/1+2)

Under the Distinctive Ring Patterns change: Ring1 Cadence: 60(.4/.2,.4/2)

Under Miscellaneous change : FXS Port Impedance: 220+820||115nF

Section 4 Line 1 Settings

Click on the Line 1 tab. Under the Proxy and Registration heading, you will be required to enter one of the two SIP proxy addresses that can be used with BBPGlobal. Proxy: sip1.bbpglobal.com:5190 Proxy: sip2.bbpglobal.com OR

Under the Subscriber Information heading, you will be required to enter your BBPGlobal Extension number and your password that were supplied to you by BBPGlobal when you signed up.

Display Name: User ID: Password: Use Auth ID: Auth ID:

Change to your name or your BBPGlobal extension BBPGlobal extension number BBPGlobal password yes BBPGlobal extension number

Under the Audio Configuration heading. The following change is required. Preferred Codec: G729a

Under the Dial Plan heading. Dial Plan: (*xx|<0:061>[23478]xxxxxxxxS0|<:**6>1800xxxxxx|<:0612>13xx.|xx.)

What does it mean? Dial Plan *xx <0:061>[23478]xxxxxxxxS0 Description This is used for Vertical Service Activation Codes on the PAP2 Used to make dialling Australian national and mobile numbers easier. Now instead of dialling 0 61 2 9123 4567, you just dial 02 9123 4567. This is the same for 03, 07 and 08 numbers as well as 04 mobile numbers. Used to make dialling 1800 numbers easier. Instead of dialling **6 1800 xxxxxx, you can now just dial the 1800 number. Used to make dialling 13/1300 numbers easier. Instead of dialling 0 61 2 13 xx, you can now just dial the 13/1300 number. Dial all other numbers as usual.

Section 5 Setting up STUN server


If you are behind a NAT modem/router, you may have to use a STUN server. The following section describes what you need to do to accomplish this.

Click on the SIP tab. Under the NAT Support Parameters heading you will need to enable STUN and enter one of the two STUN server addresses provided by BBPGlobal. STUN Enable: STUN Server yes stun1.bbpglobal.com OR stun2.bbpglobal.com

Then you have to enable NAT. To do this click on the Line 1 tab again.

Under the NAT Settings heading, enable NAT. NAT Mapping Enabled: Yes

Section 6 Submitting Changes and Checking Registration State


Now that all the required changes have been made you can click on the Save Settings button.

After you hit the save button, the PAP2 will save the configuration and perform a reboot. This should only take about 5-10 seconds. Once it has finished rebooting, the screen displayed will be the Info tab.

On the Info tab you will find various information relating to the current state of your connection. Of particular importance is the Registration State, which is under the Line 1 Status heading. If you have successfully registered with the BBPGlobal servers this should read Online.
