ETN Photo Archive now online!
Browse through our pictorial past by visiting: http://www.flickr.com/photos/ enfieldtalkingnewspaper/ If you can identify anyone in the photos who isnt already named (or if you spot any cases of mistaken identity) please let us know! If you have any other photographs or memorabilia that we could feature on the site, do get in touch. There has been so much news at ETN during the summer that we have decided to produce a special newsletter! We celebrated our 50th Anniversary in style in May. At our AGM in June our long standing Chairman, Audrey Jenkins and our Vice Chairman, Alan Mooge (pictured centre and right with Tony Vale of the Talking Newspaper Federation) both stepped down after many years of service. It is no surprise that ETN won Enfields Finest award for best team-working charity under their stewardship. A new team of officers was elected at the committee meeting in August and we are pleased that Audrey has agreed to stay on the committee! New contact details are on the next page.

50th Anniversary Party

We celebrated our 50th Anniversary in style on 16th May. Thank you to everyone who helped to make the event so special. Congratulations to all those who received special awards for Long Service. It was amazing to meet so many ETN pioneers from the early days and wonderful that so many listeners could attend. If you missed the event and want to find out what went on, see the photographs from the evening here http://www.flickr.com/photos/ enfieldtalkingnewspaper/ and view a video of the speeches, filmed by Group Bs Malcolm Sleath, on our You Tube site : http://www. youtube.com/watch?v=EJAzoDptaeM

Recording Taster Sessions attract new techies

After an excellent response to our appeal in the Enfield Independent for Techie volunteers, Senior Recording Engineer and ETN Treasurer Robin Bester ran two induction sessions in September. We were delighted that a number of keen new recruits attended. Our trainee recordists will begin shadowing teams from 15th September. Welcome to all of them!

Some more ways you can help us !

Are you involved in a sports club, school or faith organisation in Enfield?
Recently we wrote to every school, club and faith organisation in Enfield providing information about ETN and asking them to consider making us their chosen charity for future fundraising events. Weve already received generous donations from a number of individuals and a sum from St Monicas RC Church, to whom we are most grateful. If you are involved in any organisation that might be willing to make ETN their chosen charity, please let us know (contact details below). We have a stock of posters and leaflets that we can send you to spread the word!

Please nominate ETN as Waitrose Charity of the Month

The Community Matters scheme run by Waitrose donates money to three good causes a month. 1000 a month is donated from major branches (like Enfield Town) and 500 a month from convenience stores (like Windmill Hill and Palmers Green). If you live near a branch of Waitrose, please pick up a form to nominate Enfield Talking Newspaper as a beneficiary. The forms are available from each store. The more nominations we receive, the more likely we are to be selected!

BBC Radio 4 covers the history of Talking Newspapers

Word of Mouth on BBC Radio 4 recently featured the history of the Talking Newspaper movement. The programme is still available on the BBC I-Player : http://www.bbc.co.uk/ programmes/b01322dh#synopsis
