MixingGasoline and Oil
Your Toro snowthroweris powered by a two-cycle engine that requiresa 50:1 gasoline-to-oilmixture. Use only clean, fresh, unleadedgasoline(including oxygenatedor reformulatedgasoline)with an octane purchaseonly rating of 87 or higher. To ensurefreshness, the amount of gasolineyou expect to use in 30 days. Using unleadedgasolineresultsin fewer combustion chamberdepositsand longer spark plug life. Engines certified to comply with California and U.S. EPA emission regulations for ULGE engines are certified to operateon regular unleadedgasoline/oilmix, include the following emissioncontrol system(s):EM and TWC (if equipped),and do not include any fealures. user-adjustable IMPORTANT: Do not use methanol, gasoline containing methanol, gasohol containing more than lOTo ethanol, premium gasoline, or white gas. Using these fuels can damage the engine's fuel system. IMPORTANT: Do not use an automotive oil (such as SAE 30 or 10W30), a two-cycle oil that is not NMMAor TCW-certified, or a fuel mixed at the wrong gasoline-to-oil ratio. This can cause engine damage not covered under the Toro warrantv.

POTENTIAL HAZARI) . In certain conditionsgasolineis extremely flammable and highly explosive. WHAT CAN HAPPEN . A fire or explosionfrom gasolinecan burn you and others and causepnopertydamage. HOW TO AVOID THE HAZARD . Fill the fuel tank outdoors,in an open area, and when the engineis cold. Wipe up any gasoline that spills. . Do not fill the fuel tank completelyfull. Add gasolineto the fuel tank until the level is 1/4 to 1/2 inch (6 to 13 mm) below the bottom of the filler neclc This empty spacein the tank allows the gasolineto expand. . Never smokewhen handling gasoline, and stay away fmm an open flame or where a spark may ignite gasolinefumes. . Store gasolinein an approved fuel container and keepit out ofthe reachofchildren. . Never buy more than a 30-day supply of gasoline.
Note: Use a fuel stabilizer/conditioner all Toro for gasoline-powered productsduring operationand storage. A fuel stabilizer/conditioner cleansthe engine during operationand preventsgum-like varnish depositsfrom forming in the engine during storage.A fuel stabilizerkonditioner works best when you mix it with fresh gasoline. If you use ToroHeavy Duty 50:1All Season2-Cycle Engine Oil with Fuel Stabilizer, you do not needto add a fuel stabilizer/conditioner. IMPORTANT: Do not use fuel additives except a fuel stabilizer during storage. Do not use fuel stabilizers with an alcohol base such as ethanol. methanol. or isopropanol. 1. Pour a half gallon (1.9 liters)of fresh, unleaded gasolineinto an approvedgasolinecontainer. Note: Do not mix gasolineand oil in the fuel tank. Oil at room temperaturemixes easierand more thoroughly than cold oil. Oil below 32"F (0"C) requiresadditional mixing. 2. Add the full amount of Tbro Heavy Duty 50:l All Season2-Cycle Engine Oil with Fuel Stabilizer or an equivalent high grade,NMMA- or TCW-certified two-cycle oil to the gasolineaccordingto the chart below:

POTENTIAL HAZARD . When fueling, under certain circumstances, a static chargecan develop, igniting the gasoline. WHAT CAN HAPPEN . A fire or explosionfrom gasolinecan burn you and others and causeproperty damage. HOW TO AVOID THE HAZARI) . Always place gasolinecontainerson the gnound away from your vehicle before filling. . Do not fill gasolinecontainersinside a vehicle interior or on a truck or trailer bed because carpetsor plastic truck bed liners may insulate the container and slow the lossof any static charge. . When practical, Femove gas-powered equipmentfrom the truck or trailer and refuel the equipmentwith its wheelson the ground. . Ifthis is not possible, then refuel such equipmenton a truck or trailer from a portable container, rather than from a gasoline dispensernozzle. . If you must usea gasolinedispensernozzle, keep the nozzlein contact with the rim of the fuel tank or container openingat all times until fuelingis complete.

Operation
Operating Controls
The snowthrower control panel contains a key switch, a primer, a recoil starter, and an electric start button (electric start models only). The choke is just below the control panel (Fig. 10).
POTENTIAL HAZARI) . If you leavethe snowthrowerpluggedinto a power outlet, someone can inadvertently start the snowthrower. WHAT CAN HAPPEN . Someone can becomeinjurrcdor property damagecan occur. HOW TO AVOID THE HAZARI) . Unplug the power cord wheneveryou do not usethe snowthrower.
B. Pushthe starterbutton. Run the electric starterno more than ten times at intervals offive secondson, then five seconds off. If the engine does not start after this attempt, wait at least 40 minutes to allow the starterto cool before attempting to start it again. IMPORTANT: Running the electric starter extensively can overheat and damage the starter.

POTENTIAL HAZARD . Stones, toys and other foneignobjectsmay be picked up and thrown by the rotor blades. WHAT CAN HAPPEN . Thrown objectscan causeseriouspersonal i4iury to operator or to bystanders. HOW TO AVOID THE HAZARI) . Keep the area to be cleared free ofall objects that could be picked up and thrown by rotor blades. . Keep all children and pets away from the area of operation.
Remove snow as soon as possibleafter it falls. This producesthe best snow removal results. The snowthrower clears down to the ground and propelsitself forward when you raise the handle. The snowthrower tilts slightly forward so that the rotor bladesstrike the ground. The wheels do not need to touch the ground to self-propel.The more you tilt the handle forward, the faster the snowthrower self-propels. Overlap each swath to ensurecomplete snow removal. Dischargethe snow downwind wheneverpossible. To clear snow from crushed rock or gravel, push down on the handle to raise the rotor bladesclear of the loose material and push the snowthrower forward.
