Number of Meeting : 12 Pre-Requisite Brief Description : Writing I : This course is designed to enable students to develop different types of paragraphs. The topics start with the elements of good writing, types of sentences in paragraph; and the methods of paragraph development most commonly used in expository writing (illustration, narration, description, process analysis, comparison and contrast, cause and effect, definition, and classification. : Parlindungan Pardede

Course Requirements: 1. This course is conducted in both real and cyber (on-line) classes. Thus, in addition to the weekly meeting in the real class, it is compulsory for every student to respond or post his/her comments in the provided space in the blog (cyber class). 2. Attendance: Not less than 80% attendance is required in this course. Participation is 25% of the overall grade for this course. This includes being in classes on time with all the necessary materials, participating in class discussion, and completing all in-class and out-of-class assignments (including the ones conducted in the class blog). 3. Individual response to questions or cases related to recently discussed topic should be posted to http://myreadwritebooster.wordpress.com/writing-3/2-paragraph-writing/ not later than three days after the class presenting the topic. 4. Evaluation: Evaluation is based on three items: (a) weekly responses posted to the blog (20%); (b) Mid-Term Test (30; and (c) Final-Semester Assignment (50%). 5. Grading Scale: 100-80 A; 79.9-75 A-; 74.9-70.0 B+; 69.9-65 B; 64.9-60 B-; 59.9-55 C; 50-54.9 C-; 45-49.9 D; below 45 E.

6. Grading and Revisions: a. When I return a paper to you, it will either have a grade or I will have written revise for a grade. If I have written revise for a grade, it will be recorded as a D until it is revised. Papers that receive a C+ or lower can be revised, as well. To revise a paper, make sure you make a more complete revision. b. For the individual responses and discussions carried out in the blog, any time I comment please elaborate your argument/answer you are expected to post a more complete answer.
