Essential tips for Improving milk Standards and quality 1: Select well body conditioned and healthy animal for milking. Mastitic animal should be milked separately and expel out their milk.

2: Diseased/abnormal animals can transmit disease to you and your customers. Therefore, call for a veterinarian to treat the animal.

3: Dont consume and sell the milk of animal during the treatment unless you get permission from your vet doctor.

4: Look for a place free from dust, dung and other contaminated substances. Choose a shade place.

5: Clean up the udder with clean clothes.

6: A milker should use water and soap to clean their hands and clean clothe should be used to dry their hands.

7: A milker should fulfill the following conditions: He should be free from any abnormal/disease including: Typhoid, Cholera and Coughing Had a little nails He should avoid sneezing, coughing and smoking during the milking. 8: Always try to use clean metallic milk containers. Dont use plastic container like Jerrycans. 9: After milking, please use a filter to prevent any solid and contaminated particles from getting into the container.

10: Try to transfer milk into the metallic containers at once rather than using cup for milk transfer.

11: Keep milk covered in a clean cool area.

12: Milk should be made available at milk collection points.

13: If you are far from the villages or milk collection areas, try to cool milk by using one of the following methods: Put the milk in a cool water Use cooling methods made from charcoals Cover the milk with coverage then wet it thoroughly 14: Initially, Milk quality should be inspected at milk collection sites. Milk containers should be open and the presence of any contaminated substance should be observed from the milk.

Secondly, the odor and the appearance should be examined whether there is a change from normal or not.

15: If the milk has a good quality and appearance, the following experiments should be carried out if its available: Milk heating method: Take a little amount of milk into the spoonful then heat it up by using a fire. If milk coagulates it displays that milk acidity is high, therefore, all milk should be heated. Use Alcohol: Mix small amount of milk and 68% of Spiirte, then shake it. If milk coagulates it proves that the experiment is unperfected.
