T11 - Designing for Authenticity: Creating Emotional, Cultural and Physical Spaces that Resonate with Users In the design industry, space usually refers to the physical space that surrounds us: our buildings, landscapes and overall environment. But to achieve resonant designs, designers need to look at space in a broader sense. Emotional space is where our individual needs, desires and aspirations exist. Cultural space is where individuals act and interact within a community of shared attitudes, values, goals and practices. Physical space is where emotional and cultural spaces exist and flourish. By understanding these three spaces, the roles they play and how they work together, designers can design toward authentic experiences that truly connect with users.
