During the weekend of September 24-25, Fr. Greg Serwa will make a mission appeal at all the masses on behalf of the Pallottines Missionaries. Pallottines (The Society of the Catholic Apostolate) is a religious community spread over several countries in the five continents. It was founded in Rome in 1835 by St. Vincent Pallotti. He is considered the pioneer of the Lay Apostolate. He is recognized as having profoundly influenced the teaching of Vatican Council II on the laity. In India, besides carrying out the founders vision by inspiring the laity to take an active role in the Church, the Pallottines run mission stations in the remotest villages. They do the same in Zambia, Africa. The Pallottines work among the poorest, least educated and most oppressed. In traditional Catholic areas, they concentrate on re-evangelization and the training of the laity to become more active apostles. A second collection will be taken to help the work of the Pallottines at all the Masses the weekend of September 24-25. Please be generous.
"Thank you to the volunteers who cleaned the Rachel Muha center last Saturday. The mini-racers will be excited to start their program in a clean and organized room!"
Childrens Liturgy of the Word (or CLOW for short) will begin again on Sunday, October 2nd at 11:00 Mass. We are sorry for the delay in beginning this fall, but we are looking forward to meeting with your children in kindergarten through 5th grade once Victory Hall is again ready for use. This is a very worthwhile ministry which helps the children of OLV understand each weeks Liturgy of the Word on their own level. During the Childrens Liturgy, each weeks Gospel is read to the children and the homilist explains its meaning in a way that children can understand. The children take an active part as they ask and answer questions during the homily, profess their faith, read the prayers of the faithful, offer up their own petitions and carry up the offertory gifts when they return to the congregation upstairs. If you havent had an opportunity to witness Childrens Liturgy, please join us downstairs to observe the experience. Its great to see the children participate in a meaningful way in the Mass. In addition to your childs participation, were looking for new parents to participate. Each week we need 6 to 7 volunteers to act as pied pipers, musicians, leaders and homilists, as well as to help with clean up and set up. No prior knowledge is necessary, and the time commitment is generally for only one or two Sundays a month during the 11:00 Mass. We are happy to train you for a position that meets your talents, but we NEED your help. CLOW has been a strong ministry for the children of OLV for over 25 years, but we need new members to continue so were asking for your help. If you are interested, please contact Beth Davin at 486-3875 or ead@netset1.com to discuss how you can get involved.
Please join Our Lady of Victory Parish as we embrace our newest ministry, Run The Race. Run the Race is a wonderful ministry on the west side of Columbusjust 3.6 miles from OLV. It was developed by Rachel Muha in loving memory of her son, Brian Muha, who was killed 10 years ago. This center especially fosters health and happiness through spiritual and emotional development for kids ages 3-18 years olds. Pantry items that are ALWAYS needed: Granola Bars, Fruit Bars, Fruit-Cups, Cans of Protein: Tuna, Chicken meals. Please place these items in the boxes in the lower level of the Parish Life Center where Sunday school takes place.
