The Ceres Community Center has both large and small assembly rooms, a commercial kitchen, meeting room, and classroom. These facilities are available to rent for weddings, parties, meetings, and seminars. Tables, chairs and event set-up are included in the rental cost. Located in downtown Ceres, the Ceres Community Center is an ideal location for your event.

REFUND POLICY Refunds will be given on cancellations received prior to the first class or if a doctors note is received. Failure to attend a program or no shows will not be granted a refund. If you are not satisfied with any of our programs, please do not hesitate to call 538-5628.

RECREATION SCHOLARSHIPS The Recreation Scholarship Program has been established for Ceres Residents who meet income requirements wishing to participate in a City of Ceres Recreation Program. Approved applicants are eligible for a maximum award of $50 per fiscal year, July 1 to June 30. Applicants will be required to pay any remaining fees not covered by scholarship funds at the time of registration. Applicants applying for financial assistance must live within the City of Ceres and provide proof that the family income is at or below the current HUD financial guidelines. Applications can be obtained at the Ceres Community Center. First come ~ First served

AQUATICS
SWIM LESSONS REGISTER NOW! Learn to swim with the Ceres Recreation Department! Join us at Ceres H.S. Pool this summer and take a swim class from our certified aquatic staff. Session I: June 13 to June 23, 2011 Session II: July 5 to July 14, 2011 Session III: July 25 to Aug 4, 2011 Cost: $40 per session (8 classes) Where: Ceres H.S. Pool Otter (Level IV): 7:20-7:50pm 1:35-2:05pm, 3:20-3:50pm, Goldfish (Level III): 1:00-1:30pm, 1:35-2:05pm, 2:10-2:40pm, 2:45-3:15pm, 3:20-3:50pm, 6:457:15pm Level III introduces elementary backstroke, develops rotary rhythmic breathing and continues to refine and strengthen the crawl stroke.

Level IV emphasizes increased coordination and endurance of crawl stroke, backstroke, elementary backstroke and deep-water skills.

Duckling (Parent & Me): 1:00-1:30pm & 6:106:40pm The Parent & Me course allows parents to assist in the development of their childs comfort level in and out of the water, as well as swimming skills. This program is designed to teach water safety to both parent and child.

Dolphin (Level V): 2:45-3:15pm & 7:20-7:50pm Level V promotes self-help skills and introduces advanced stroke technique and further develops endurance levels.

Adult Swim: 2:10-2:40pm & 7:20-7:50pm Frog (Preschool): 1:00-1:30pm, 1:35-2:05pm, 2:10-2:40pm, 2:45-3:15pm, 3:20-3:50pm, 6:107:00pm, 6:45-7:15pm The Preschool course develops students comfort in and out of the water, as well as swimming skills. WATER POLO CAMP REGISTER NOW! This new and exciting camp will serve as an introduction to the sport of water polo. Participants will learn a variety of skills, including: passing and shooting drills, dribbling, treading water, field and body positioning, and introduction to game play. CARTOON DRAWING FOR KIDS Students will learn the basic cartoon art form and then create their own characters. This is a fun way to be creative while learning to draw. Class taught by a Stanislaus Arts Commission Instructor. All materials and supplies are included in the class fee. YOUTH COOKING CLASSES


KIDS IN THE KITCHEN REGISTER NOW! Kinder Chefs: Ages 3 to 6 yrs ~ 5:30-6:00pm Children are more likely to try new foods if they have a hand in making them. In this class, children and their parent-partner will explore tastes, smells, and textures through a hands-on food adventure. A new dish will be created each week. TOTS GET MESSY REGISTER NOW! Tots explore color, texture, smell and more by creating art with mostly edible products. Water play, bubble games, art experiments and music make this class full of messy fun! A variety of activities designed around the game of soccer will be played each week. HOOPSTERS YOUTH BASKETBALL Join a non-competitive, coed, youth basketball league for children K - 8th grades. YOUNG AT HEART STRENGTH TRAINING CLASS Are you tired of paying high cost gym memberships and having to drive across town to get there? Does the idea of exercising as a group 2 to 3 times a week in your own community sound fun and appealing to you? This is a FREE exercise class designed specifically for the Older Adult 60+ When: Monthly, Mondays and Wednesdays Time: 8:45-9:45am Mondays 9:00-10:00am Wednesdays Where: CC Center Fitness Room Cost: FREE SENIOR LOUNGE Come on down and take a look at our state of the art Senior Lounge. This dedicated space is the perfect place to socialize with friends, watch TV, play some cards, or read a good book. The lounge is open six days per week, Monday through Saturday, all day.

SENIOR ZUMBA Zumba fun for active adults and beginning students. Gentle dance and exercise program with a Latin flavor; Salsa, Merengue. Calypso, Belly Dance, and other international rhythms. No partners necessary. Chair participants welcome (as are pillows). This program helps to improve flexibility, strength, and balance. The instructor, Donna Joseph, is certified Zumba Basic and Zumba Gold and is a ZIN member. She has taught and performed Middle Eastern Dance for 10 yrs. Ceres Youth Commission
The purpose of the Ceres Youth Commission is to provide culturally diverse youth in our city with an opportunity to make a positive impact in our community. Commissioners will be given the opportunity to advise the Recreation Department, City Council, and other groups on matters relating to youth in Ceres. CYC meets every 3rd Wednesday of each month at 3:00pm in the Ceres Community Center Teen Room. Ceres Youth Commission members will have the following responsibilities: 1. Help with community problem solving 2. Provide opportunities and activities for teens in Ceres 3. Conduct community service projects 4. Supervise and facilitate Teen Room in the Ceres Community Center.

Families can come together each Tuesday Night from June 7-July 12 at Whitmore Park from 6:30-8:00pm for live music and entertainment. BIRTHDAY PARTY PACKAGES


The Recreation Division is offering a new and exciting program for families BIRTHDAY PARTY PACKAGES Packages will include set-up, clean-up, 1.5 hours of planned crafts, games and activities, 1/2 hour of cake & gift time (cake not included), plates, napkins, & decorations. Maximum of 12 children. Parties must be reserved at least 1 month prior to event. Olympics Party- Children will participate in several games and relays based on the Olympics. An Olympics craft will also be included. Cheerleading Party Children will get to have their very own pom poms, and learn a basic cheer! Two games and a cheer craft will also be included. Chef Party Children will get to prepare a 3 course meal, plus make their very own cookbook. Chef aprons included.

Ages 2 to 5 years
Circus Party-children will use gymnastic equipment, animal costumes and carnival props to participate in their very own CIRCUS. Two games and a circus craft will also be included.

11 to 13 years
Murder Mystery (CLUE)-youth will get to dress up and solve a murder.

Chef Party-children will get to prepare a 3 course meal, plus make their very own cookbook. Chef aprons included.

Artibles & Edibles Party-children will celebrate through their senses using water, food, bubbles and other textures to create wonderful pieces of art. Two games and a craft will also be included.

Hip Hop Dance Party- youth will get learn 2 street and lyrical dance routines. We will also have a mock celebrity photo shoot for party guest!

Mini-Cheer Party-children will get to have their very own pom poms, and learn a basic cheer! Two games and a cheer craft will also be included.

Jewelry & Scrapbook Party- youth will create their own necklace, bracelet and friendship scrapbook page.

Princess Ballerina Party-children will get be princess ballerinas for the day. Tutus, princess crowns and a ballet dance included!

Spy Party-children will get to solve a mystery and create their very own foot cast.

Ceramics Party-children will get to paint and glaze 3 ceramic pieces. Prior to the party the customer will have a choice of ceramics (each child will have to do the same 3 pieces). Choices include: dinosaurs, plate, cup saucer, or ring holder and jewelry box.
