American Legion Post 15, Dan Diefenderfer, Commander, 744-8903, http://post15.coamlegion.org

This month we start having our Legion Awareness Tables, Ill need some help manning the tables. When we do these tables, its a chance to hear from the Vets in the community and a time for the public to get to know us and what we do in a no-pressure environment. If you have as little as 30 min to an hour, I could use your help. Please see calendar for locations and times, Ill be updating the posts online calendar with updates as they come in. Thank you to all Legionnaires for your time and help with events so far this year! This months dinner social will be meatloaf, mashed potatoes with gravy, and seasoned veggies @ 6pm for $5 a plate. Come hungry and ready to tell stories. Awareness tables Oct 8-9: Wal-Mart on Hwy287 N - 10a-2p Oct 16: King Soopers in Orchards Shopping Center - 10a-3p Nov5-6: King Soopers on 14th St SW - 10a-3p

American Legion Auxiliary Unit 15, Nancy Diefenderfer, President, 744-8102, http://post15.coamlegion.org
It is time to pay your 2012 dues, so help us get to 100% membership this year. We are now paying Department $16 instead of $14 out of your yearly membership dues of $20 a year, so we may need to raise our yearly dues next year. Vet's day is coming up on Friday, November 11th and we will need volunteers to help at the breakfast, and with manning an Auxiliary awareness table in the main hall. Please contact Nancy Diefenderfer if you can help. The Legion has an Awareness table at some of the stores in town each fall, and we will be joining them this year to promote all that we do in our Auxiliary Unit. If you would like to volunteer for a Saturday or Sunday for just an hour or two, please contact Nancy D. Please come to our meetings and express your views on this and other Auxiliary business. Our next meeting will be on Tuesday, October 11th, at 7:00 pm, dinner at 6 pm.

Sons of the American Legion Sqdn 15, Dave Kingery, Commander, 303-882-5829
We have another busy month in store for the Sons. On Saturday Oct 1st, we will be hosting a small breakfast at 8am for some vets and local citizens who graduated from high school in 1944. They would like to see some of what the Associated Vets has to offer. Our meeting falls on Saturday the 15th at 10 am, and our SAL Bingo Kitchen is Friday, October 21st. Our monthly SAL Breakfast is Sunday, October 23rd. Finally, I would ask for some members to dedicate a little time to joining the American Legion's recruiting drive at tables set up in parking lots around the area. Looking forward to seeing you - come spend a little time with us.

Don't forget that October 22nd is the dinner for cancer research, so please come eat and bring your friends. It is $7.00 a plate. We also need pies donated for this dinner. We need to get our dues in, so please pay your dues to Lynn. It is the same people that help out all the time, so we could really use some new faces on Fridays and also at our meetings. Please help out when you can. If you can help with Bingo, call Colleen, 669-1832, and if you have anything for the Vets Hospital, please call Maria at 461-0080.

Three ladies from the DAVA, and one from the VFWA went to All Patient's Day in Pueblo on September 17. The Veterans were very pleased with the clothing items that were donated. The next meeting will be on Sunday, December 11 at 1:00 p.m. There will not be an October or November meeting. Please come to our meetings, we need you and your ideas!

Associated Veterans of Loveland, Ed Aitkin, President, 669-6327

The Associated Veterans met on Monday the 19th and business was conducted as usual. The disappointing part was the lack of members in attendance. And that is YOU - this is your organization and you are entitled and have the right to voice your opinions and make suggestions. We have a suggestion box in the hallway, give us your proactive suggestion and help us grow a prosperous and fun association for us, and for the Veterans that come after us.

Associated Vets Club, Sherry Woods, Manager, 667-4722

I would like to thank all that helped with our garage sale in Sept., and all that donated items - THANK YOU ALL! We could not have done it without each of you! We are now into Bronco season and will have potluck for all 2pm games. This year we have a new 55" flat screen with High Definition for your viewing pleasure, so be sure to stop down and watch the game and bring a dish for potluck, the food is always wonderful. Notice on your calendar Oct 15 is our 7th Annual Rocky Mtn. Oyster Fry, (Chicken strips will also be served) cole slaw, french fries, and Dick and Pats famous Charro Beans. Mark the date on your calendar - OCTOBER 15, 5PM START TIME. ALL YOU CAN EAT $10.00.

The cost for the meal is $8.00 ($4.00 for small children) and if your birthday is in October you eat free. AVL Honor Guard, Art Terrones, Commander, 593-2251

So far this month (Sept) we have done six Military Honors for veterans at their funerals. In the month of Aug. we did seven. At this rate we will match or exceed the eighty-one funerals that we did in 2009. A few of us were at the funeral in Fort Collins where the Army performed the Honors for the helicopter pilot killed recently in Afghanistan. It was touching to see the flag draped casket in a glass enclosed horse drawn hearse. We continue to struggle sometimes to get a full compliment of H.G. members to help at the ones that we do, so if you think you can help, please give me a call or see me at the club.
