You may take this copy of OOo-dev and inst all it on as many computers as you like, and use it for any purpose you like (in cluding commercial, government, public administration and educational use). Everyone has a contribution to make. ---------------------------------------------------------------------Notes on Installation ---------------------------------------------------------------------OOo-dev requires a recent version of JAVA for full functionality which is part o f the OOo-dev installation package. System Requirements ---------------------------------------------------------------------* * * * * Microsoft Windows 2000 (Service Pack 4 or higher), XP, Vista, or Windows 7 Pentium compatible PC (Pentium III or Athlon recommended) 256 MB RAM (512 MB RAM recommended) Up to 1.5 GB available hard disk space 1024x768 resolution (higher resolution recommended), at least 256 colors

Registration of OOo-dev as default application for Microsoft Office formats can be forced or suppressed by using the following command line switches with the in staller: * /msoreg=1 will force registration of OOo-dev as default application for Micros oft Office formats. * /msoreg=0 will suppress registration of OOo-dev as default application for Mic rosoft Office formats. If you perform an administrative installation using setup /a, you need to make s ure that the file msvc90.dll is installed on the system. This file is required f or OOo-dev to start after an administrative installation. You can get the file f rom http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=9B2DA534-3E03-43918A4D-074B9F2BC1BF Please be aware that administrator rights are needed for the installation proces s. Please make sure you have enough free memory in the temporary directory on your system and that read, write and run access rights have been granted. Close all o ther programs before starting the installation. ---------------------------------------------------------------------Extension Database Incompatibility ---------------------------------------------------------------------The Berkeley database engine has been upgraded in this version of OOo-dev. The d atabase engine upgrade introduces an incompatibility with user data for installe d extensions for OOo-dev versions prior to 3.2 that may require your action if y ou downgrade your version of OOo-dev. This version of OOo-dev will convert database format when extensions are , the database can no longer be read to an earlier version may result in your extension database to the new Berkeley installed or removed. If you downgrade to an earlier version of OOo-dev, you must remove the user data directory {user data}/uno_packages, for example ~/.openoffice.org/3/user/uno_pa ckages, and reinstall all extensions. ---------------------------------------------------------------------Problems During Program Startup ---------------------------------------------------------------------Difficulties starting OOo-dev (e.g. applications hang) as well as problems with the screen display are often caused by the graphics card driver. If these proble ms occur, please update your graphics card driver or try using the graphics driv er delivered with your operating system. Difficulties displaying 3D objects can often be solved by deactivating the option "Use OpenGL" under 'Tools - Options OOo-dev - View - 3D view'. ---------------------------------------------------------------------ALPS/Synaptics notebook touchpads in Windows ---------------------------------------------------------------------Due to a Windows driver issue, you cannot scroll through OOo-dev documents when you slide your finger across an ALPS/Synaptics touchpad. To enable touchpad scrolling, add the following lines to the "C:\Program Files\S ynaptics\SynTP\SynTPEnh.ini" configuration file, and restart your computer:

[OOo-dev] FC = "SALFRAME" SF = 0x10000000 SF = 0x00004000 The location of the configuration file might vary on different versions of Windo ws. ---------------------------------------------------------------------Shortcut Keys ---------------------------------------------------------------------Only shortcut keys (key combinations) not used by the operating system can be us ed in OOo-dev. If a key combination in OOo-dev does not work as described in the OOo-dev Help, check if that shortcut is already used by the operating system. T o rectify such conflicts, you can change the keys assigned by your operating sys tem. Alternatively, you can change almost any key assignment in OOo-dev. For mor e information on this topic, refer to the OOo-dev Help or the Help documention o f your operating system. ---------------------------------------------------------------------Problems When Sending Documents as E-mails From OOo-dev ---------------------------------------------------------------------When sending a document via 'File - Send - Document as E-mail' or 'Document as P DF Attachment' problems might occur (program crashes or hangs). This is due to t he Windows system file "Mapi" (Messaging Application Programming Interface) whic h causes problems in some file versions. Unfortunately, the problem cannot be na rrowed down to a certain version number. While registration is optional, we encourage you t o register, since the information enables the community to make an even better s oftware suite and address user needs directly.
