TH 27TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

OCTOBER 2ND, 2011

PRAYERS FOR THE DECEASED: We pray for our loved ones who have died recently especially Margaret Leclaire and Elizabeth Pozobut. PRAYERS FOR THE SICK AND SHUT-IN: Let us raise up in prayer those who seek Gods healing love, those at the hospital, hospice and at home especially Pat Preen, John Albert, Joan Faye Prince and Gladys McNulty. May your struggle be consoled by Christs love.

INTRODUCTION OF NEW SUNG MASS SETTING - REVISED ROMAN MISSAL With the implementation of the new translation of the Roman Missal comes the need for new sung Mass settings used during the celebration of the Eucharist (Gloria, Holy, Holy, Memorial Acclamations). To assist with a smooth transition to these new sung texts, Bishop Mulhall has granted permission for parishes in the diocese to begin using the new sung Mass texts in advance of the full implementation on November 26th. Over time we will learn various sung Mass settings, but to begin the Diocese of Pembroke has asked parishes to introduce a common setting called The Mass of St. Ralph Sherwin. Those involved in music ministry at St. Francis Xavier Parish are currently working with this music and we will begin using it at our Masses on the weekend of October 15th/16th. One of the creative ways that we as a congregation can become more familiar with this musical setting in advance is by listening to it on the internet! The Mass of St. Ralph Sherwin can be heard on Youtube and can be accessed at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RCqyIdtTFmg.
LITURGICAL MINISTERS:
CANTORS: The parish needs a few good voices!!!. If you love to sing, this is an opportunity for you to help your parish enrich our liturgies. Jennifer Slight will work with new cantors to ensure they are comfortable in the role. If you wish to simply inquire about what this entails please contact the office. Dont be shy! HOSPITALITY & EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS: We are desperately short of volunteers for the 5:00 p.m. Saturday Mass. If you are able to assist please present yourself to Fr. Proulx. Thanks...Anne Smith 613-646-2058.

EVA OLSSON Eva Olsson will be in Renfrew in November to speak to the school children. The Parish will host Eva for an evening presentation. It will be a privilege to welcome her to our community and to join with you in welcoming many invited guests at your invitation and ours as well. Please follow our plans for Evas presentation in upcoming bulletins. A STORY OF COURAGE AND HOPE Eva Olsson is a Holocaust survivor. But to the thousands of schoolchildren she speaks to every year, shes a hero. To watch Eva in action is an inspiration beyond imaging, and the lessons she teaches go far beyond history. She talks of bullying. And being a bystander. Of respect and forgiveness. And never giving up no matter what. In a dozen years shes driven more than a quarter of a million miles to touch the lives of the young, and in their words and faces you can see the change in an instant.
