CAREER SUMMARY
My interpersonal skills, attention to detail and ability to work effectively within diverse
environments, particularly those requiring strong communication skills and responding to
needs of customers, are among my highest attributes. The variety of tasks and sectors in
which I have worked has meant that I have become a quick learner, capable of
prioritising and working effectively in a multi-task environment.
The £40M Skynet 5 Management Segment software application has been designed to
provide a Web Browser platform, from where it is possible to operate up to ten
communication satellites. Working to a strict timeline due to the implications of missing a
planned satellite launch, I am responsible for ensuring the deployment roll out is
undertaken in a controlled phased approach, I manage sub-systems, track issues and
where necessary approve Change Requests and Requests For Deviations.
I report on a regular basis to an External customer, regularly chairing Project Review
Boards, the Project team I lead comprises a QA Manager, Test team Leader and a
Configuration Control specialist.
I meet periodically with Stakeholders and am responsible for providing RAG status
reports and End of Stage reports, I receive metrics from the Testing team using this and
budgetary performance stats to form an opinion on project progress and act accordingly.
I am responsible for ensuring that all project costs are monitored to ensure that the
£40M budget at no point exceeds it tolerance targets, I also approve or reject Change
Requests up to £3M
I continually seek to improve communication and eradicate workstream duplication.
The Skynet5 Satellite system will provide the UK MOD with improved coverage,
availability, functionality, flexibility and monitoring capabilities. All software and hardware
is subject to stringent security requirements, this Project provides the level of
professional challenge and opportunities that I seek.
Organisation: DHL
Period: May 2004 – Mar 2005
Position: Product Release-Gold Copy Project manager
The Product Release department is responsible for ensuring items released into the “Live
Environment” have been subjected to the appropriate levels of quality control. The
documents reviewed during this process include Implementation Plan, Risk and Impact
Analysis, Back out Plan, Schedule, Unit Test Results, User Acceptance Test Results, and
Implementation Work Orders.
To ensure the smooth transition of the DHL IT Organisation to Prague, it has been
necessary to ensure the continued rollout of Enhancements, Bug Fixes and new Programs
into the “Live Environment” have been subjected to the appropriate levels of quality
control and technical testing.
As part of this transition, my role primarily focuses on managing work streams of
consolidated periodical changes to the IT infrastructure, ensuring the appropriate
resources have been assigned and work packages designed to ensure all changes are
“Released to Production” in a controlled and manageable environment.
I was responsible for the establishment of detailed processes which have been adopted
by the Business globally, this has allowed the “Release To Production” process to be
standardized, streamlined and highly effective at implementing major changes that
adhere to stringent quality criteria. Working within a truly global organisation, which is
undergoing vast changes, has provided the challenges and variety, which I enjoy from
Project Management.

ITNET provide the on-site technical management resource for the IT Infrastructure
Upgrade, currently underway at the London National Air Traffic Centre, based at Swanick,
Hampshire.
My key responsibilities were to devise, record, plan and monitor all the Integration Test
activities required to achieve client confidence in the supplied services. I utilized Prince 2,
RUP and Best Practice Management tools to Plan and Disseminate Project Information in
a timely and targeted approach, ensuring stakeholder buy in and transparent project
reporting.
Responsible for setting up a phased enterprise upgrade project, creating work packages
and reporting structures for the Installers and Test Teams, ensuring lessons learned
during each project phase were implemented. Leading from the front my transparent
reporting methods led to improved Project reporting techniques being applied throughout
the organisation as Directors and key stakeholders bought into the Process Changes I
was responsible for implementing.
Using scoping skills I was able to prepare an £8M bid to replace Network Rail’s legacy
Fault Managemet System, with the bid successful I was then given responsibility for
managing on a day to day basis the software development phase through the entire
lifecycle. I was responsible for garnishing requirements from the client, converting them
into work packages to form discrete Projects with identifiable objectives and targets, I
hosted inter-departmental Project Workshops to ensure co-operation and unified
approaches throughout the life-cycle of each project was achieved.
I reported directly to the Technical and Managing Directors, maintaining the budget, an
issue and risk assessment log, I was responsible for undertaking contingency planning for
all unforeseen eventualities.
I also issued periodical Highlight reports and escalated issues via Exception reports where
no tangible solutions were apparent; Next Stage reports were also an artefact of my role
ensuring ongoing visibility of planned activities and deadlines.
