Volkswagen Group Malaysia presents the Volkswagen.Das Auto.

Show 2011
Innovation, environmental-friendliness, superior technology and efficiency at forefront of brand show

Kuala Lumpur, 8 September 2011 Volkswagen Group Malaysia today introduced its Das Auto brand with the launch of the Volkswagen.Das Auto.Show 2011. The Das Auto concept encompasses anything and everything about a car. It means The Car and for Volkswagen, the car is more than just a car. It is an embodiment of German engineering, innovations, technology and environment protection. The show is aimed at introducing this Das Auto concept here to ensure Malaysians appreciate the Volkswagen brand even more. Some 10,000 people are expected to attend this show at the Bukit Jalil Stadium where a one-of-a-kind Mega Dome has been erected, complemented by 9 smaller domes. Volkswagen Group Malaysia Managing Director Mr Ricky Tay explained that a complete Volkswagen experience, from the personal touches to the interactive world, is on display for a fun and fulfilling time, with special insights into the Volkswagen brand and Das Auto and what it represents.

It will be the first time such a super structure, measuring 21 metres in height and 42 metres in diameter, is being used for a brand show in Malaysia, he said. Volkswagen, the Peoples Car, is a brand that offers choices for people. In each segment, Volkswagen offers high-end products at an affordable price; it is this choice that makes the brand very unique. The biggest car manufacturer in Europe, Volkswagen believes in introducing high-end cars in every segment that are environmentally friendly, economical and efficient, and that truly promote the fundamental values of The Car. The brand philosophy is innovation. For example, the TSI and DSG technologies mean more power and torque, more driving fun but consume the least fuel in a lower displacement engine. This brings together the TSI and DSG technologies. We produce cars of all shapes and sizes that cater to a wide cross section of society. But most importantly, we bring to you The Car, from Volkswagen the Peoples Car. Think Blue is another concept that is being communicated to Malaysians addressing the harmony between individual mobility and sustainable action. It aims to educate on sustainable action, besides powering them with eco-friendly products and technologies and resource-efficient production methods. The Show gives the audience an in-depth understanding of why the Volkswagen brand appeals to drivers in more than 150 countries. The Show explains Volkswagens vision that motivates trust amongst consumers, representing German engineering and reliability.

Ends About the Volkswagen.Das Auto.Show 2011 Domes Volkswagens challenge came in two-folds design the worlds most unique presentation space and simulation experience to present existing and new cars to Malaysians; while ensuring an event experience which would rival any corporate event in history. The 9-car Caterpillar dome The experience begins as visitors experience the 10-section dome that plays host to 9 of the most popular Volkswagen cars in Malaysia. Stretching almost 100m long and spanning across 15,000 sq ft of floor space, the structure resembles that of a caterpillar and is held up by air making it a column-free space. As visitors make their way through the dome structure to get an up close and personal view of their favourite Volkswagen models, the domes specialised material allows for accompanying visual projections to be seen from inside and out. The Mega Dome Show This gigantic single dome stretches 42m across and 21m in height. The dome covers the main attraction - an elevated steel car track. This specially built track that spans the perimeter of the

dome has 2 entrances/exit ramps which can fit up to 12 moving cars at a time. The audience is seated in the centre of the dome to view the immersive 360-degree video presentation that accompanies the cars driving above the audience. The audience is taken through a journey of Volkswagens heritage and legacy as the cars move across various international landscapes and locations projected in the background.
