Earthfall - making waves from Brecon to Poland, with two performances in two different countries on one night.
After The Birds, an Earthfall collaboration with Theatr Association Chorea, opens in Ludz, Poland on the same night as At Swim Two Boys, Earthfalls current successful dance production on October 13th. Members of the EU parliament will be attending an exclusive performance of After the Birds in Poland whilst At Swim Two Boys will open in Brecons Theatr Brycheiniog. Earthfall return once more to Poland, to collaborate with Theatr Association Chorea to perform After the Birds on 13th October. Originally presented at Wales Millennium Centre in 2006 and based on Aristophanes comedy The Birds, this is the story of a group of rebels who attempts to create a new, pure and uncorrupted society halfway between humans and the gods. The aim of the Theatre Association Chorea is to recreate the principles of ancient chorea- a trinity of music, word and physical gesture within contemporary theatre practice. This combined with Earthfalls policy based on forging radical choreography with live music and strong visual imagery, have created a pioneering theatre performance with 12 artists that combines urban choreography, ancient Greek choral song and a uniquely physical choir with contemporary music and film. Poland currently holds the EU Presidency and as part of the EU Presidential Conference members of the EU parliament will be attending a special performance of After The Birds at Theatr Nowy, in Lodz at 6:00pm before another performance for the general public at 8:15pm. The show has then been invited to Moscow to perform at the Meyerhold Centre for two nights on the 19th and 20th December. After more than 20 years of Earthfall touring through 3 continents, I didnt expect to have yet more to be excited about. I am thrilled to have 2 of our productions opening in Poland and Wales on the same night. Jess Cohen, Artistic Director On the same night, 13th October, Earthfall will be opening their Autumn 2011 tour of At Swim Two Boys at Theatr Brycheiniog in Brecon at 7:45pm. The award winning 2005 production, At Swim Two Boys is based on the novel of the same name by Jamie ONeil that reflects the boys developing love against the turmoil of political revolution during the 1916 Easter Risings. Tender and visually beautiful, the story unfolds against a cascading wall of water that slowly fills the stage. Earthfall is revenue funded by the Arts Council of Wales and supported by the Arts Council of England.
