What you are about to read is the result of me being in business for myself for well over twenty years, and from being a best selling author of motivational and inspirational books. It is a blueprint a plan of action designed to inspire you into action that is built upon the foundations of knowhow and knowledge. Throughout the years I have owned businesses in the fields of domestic and commercial cleaning, publishing, musical theatre, web design, the hair salon industry and now the blogging and online coaching industry. So I could teach you a lot about business success, but from my years of experience I have realised that business success is generally an overflow of a much more vital and essential ingredient, and that being personal success. However, without the skills and commitment that come from building a business, most people never get to the point where they can experience personal success. That is why most people fail in life. And thats where I can help you. Most people lack the right mindset and the necessary mental throughput to take ownership of their own personal success. Without congruency between strategy and tactics, no amount of good advice, tips, techniques, case studies will get you there. Success principles are universal, but success means different things to different people, and I will help you to clearly define your own personal perception of what success means to you while helping you to achieve your own success, if you allow me. Its my personal goal with this Personal Success Blueprint to open your eyes and expand your mind to the wonderful possibilities to be found in your own, often untapped, potential. Prepare to be shocked, challenged, and finally energized with a new workable attitude that will lead you to your own personal success. Heres to your success.

How does one assess ones success? Is it by the size of the bank account? Is it by the number of accumulating assets that one has? Is it the level of business growth in the past quarter? Is it the quality of shares, bonds, stocks or even gold that one has been able to acquire? How is success measured? Is it the strength of relationships, the number of friends, and the state of your family? Is it the fact that you can communicate with your son or daughter on a heart to heart level? Is it that you can part with possessions and give them to others without a thought of loss? Is it the fact that you have time for the small and are not fazed by the big? Is it that when tragedy darkens your door that you can respond in a state of peace? Is it that when storms rage you can stand firm as a rock? Is it that no matter how many times you get knocked down, you always get up and go again? Is success demonstrated by the car you drive, the house you live in? Or is it more than the superficiality of what many call the trappings of success? Is it deeper than that? Is it simply the fact that you can find what you love to do and do it, while at the same time earn your living from that very thing? Or is it the fact that you have lived a life of influence? Or rather a life of obedience to the reason you have been created? Or is it to live true to yourself? Is it to hold on to your convictions or to do what is right even though it may mean that you must swim against the tide? What is this success? For when you discover the answer to that question for yourself you will live a life of complete joy and satisfaction as a fulfilled and successful individual.

I love hanging around people who are passionate. They inspire me, they refire me, and they ignite the desire within me to be the very best me that there possibly can be. And that is why I hang around visionaries and gogetters and people who are far more successful than myself in their own field of endeavour. Thats why when I read a book, that has really impacted my life, I write a letter to the author or shoot off an email to them with positive comments and at times questions so that I can learn more. And in most cases I have 5

received a personal response back and have created a brand new friendship. These are my mentors, and I aspire to be as they are. I refuse to spend a lot of time around people who are going nowhere. If I am to be led by anybody I must be following a leader who is going somewhere. They must be on a mission if I am going to submit myself to their commission and they must be passionately pursuing their vision, whatever that may be.

Passionate people dont stay long in a rut. They kick them out. And that is why passion will carry you through until the fulfilment of your vision. And how do you develop passion? You discover your strengths the things that you love doing and you do whatever it takes to use those strengths and by so doing your life will be strengthened from strength to strength.

The most correct study of mankind is man. Each individual is a mirror to us; and the more we peer into the lives of others, whether in the past or the present, we can learn more and more about ourselves. This is the power of biography and is why I encourage myself, and those I write for, to take time to peer into the lives of others. For it is there that you will learn about yourself and unveil the mystery that is called you. History, it has been said, is the essence of innumerable Biographies. It is the story of mankind; the meshing together of lives innumerable that will reveal to you the keys of success, the ways of wisdom and the path of understanding. 6
Self Development Mastermind http://www.selfdevelopmentmastermind.com

This is why we must read not only the books, but also the lives of those we come in contact with on a daily basis. Make observation your key obsession. Analyse your life participants and watch the stories of lives around you unfold. And while you watch, learn. For what you see is a mirror; a mirror of a motivated life. There is a strange power in reality. In one day many cross my path and I find that it is those who walk in reality who have the greatest impact on my life. In their life there are no facades, no hidden agendas, and no unwritten proposals. They are real. What you see is what you get. I find within these lives the greatest contribution and the greatest lessons. For these lives are lives that are walked in confidence. There is nothing hidden. There is nothing tucked away. When they speak they speak from the heart. When they listen they listen from the soul. But in a sense this is refreshing. They are not afraid of their humanity. They recognise that within their frail form of humanness is contained numerous strengths and alongside them lie a smattering of weaknesses. But they do not focus on their weaknesses. They concentrate their efforts and their energies on the use of their strengths and treat their weaknesses like one would treat a buzzing fly around ones head. Reality Is Living What You Speak There is one power though that is demonstrated in such a motivated life and it is this: to have an open loving heart and to allow that love to flow from that heart. For a loving heart is the beginning of knowledge. A heart such as that will open the whole mind and will make the intellect alert. For it has been written that the heart sees further than the head. It knows no boundaries and it refuses to be hemmed in. When the head says no, the heart says yes. A life ruled by the heart is a free spirit that follows the pathway of faith and resists the power of fear. For the heart is a powerful warrior, when at times the head can be a slinking coward. Develop the heart as well as the head and you will know victory like you have never known before. But before you speak, keep silent unless you have something to say. Spend your time in reading and learning first and foremost and then and only then, as you equip yourself, your time will come when you will speak. But whatever you do, do what you say and say what you do.

7
Self Development Mastermind http://www.selfdevelopmentmastermind.com

A True Thinker Is The One Who Thinks And Does Make it your mission to under-promise and over-deliver in all that you do. Imitate the motivated life. Reflect the mirror image of their experience. Sit at their feet. Read their books. Listen to their words. Spend time in their presence and you will learn more about yourself and your ways. And it is on this foundation that you can then begin to step-by-step build the firm foundations of a successful and a very motivated life. Be diligent in your study and your motivated life will not fail you. It will guide you. It will drive you and it will sustain you all the way to victory. A mirrored life reflects on not only what is, but on what is to become.

I was recently told that more millionaires are made in hard economic times than in good times. Theyre a little bit like a donkey I read about. They develop the ability to take a disastrous situation and turn it around into a wonderful freeing opportunity, and it only takes them less than a minute to start thinking that way. One day a farmers donkey fell down into a well. The animal cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do. Finally he decided the animal was old, that the well needed to be covered anyway, and that it just wasnt worth retrieving the donkey. So he invited all his neighbours to come over and help him.

They all grabbed a shovel and began to shovel dirt into the well. At first, the donkey realized what was happening and cried horribly. Then, to everyones 8

amazement, he quietened down. A few shovel loads later, the farmer finally looked down the well and was astonished at what he saw. With every shovel of dirt that hit his back, the donkey was doing something amazing. He would shake it off and take a step up. As the farmers neighbours continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it off and take a step up. Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and trotted off! Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt. The trick to getting out of the well is to shake it off and take a step up. Nothing can stop you from becoming a millionaire in less than a minute and from becoming successful in a second. How can you step up into the millionaire membership in less than a minute? Maybe change a few habits to start with. The average self-made millionaire reads one book a month. The average American looks at television six hours a day while the average self-made millionaire looks at less than two hours of television. Here is what we can learn from some millionaires The Griffiths family founded a famous sanctuary for animals close to where I now live here on the Gold Coast. It is now called the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary. At first the Griffiths had a little bush hut on the road frontage where they used to grow and sell flowers, particularly gladioli. When the local lorikeets discovered their flowers as a food source, they put in some beehives for honey to distract them. Eventually they were feeding so many lorikeets that they realised they were better business than the flowers, and their son, Alex, expanded the sanctuary to where it is now. It was recently reported that when Alex died he was worth in excess of fifty million dollars. Walt Disney dropped out of school, joined the army, came home to draw cartoons, started into business with a partner and failed and sold everything to purchase a one-way ticket to California. To his forty dollars, an imitation leather suitcase, one ill-matching suit and some drawing materials he added a dream. He started a new company, suffered setbacks, endured two nervous breakdowns, sold his car, mortgaged his house, borrowed more until he opened Disneyland, which became the biggest attraction in America and made him a multi-millionaire. 9

Where do you live? Scare City(scarcity) or Abundance Metropolis? In order to get there though, you are going to have to cross De Nile, better known as the river denial. But what must you deny? You must deny anything that would stop you from attaining success. Yes, the success that youre so richly entitled to experience on planet earth. You must decide once and for all that you live in the world of too much rather than always focussing on the world of not enough. Not enough is only an idea and once you learn how to replace it with the much better idea of too much, watch how your perspective will be changed in an instant. You can change your world if you only decide. Decide today to escape to abundance. There are two ideas that you have a choice to accept. The first is the idea of not enough found in Scare City (scarcity). The second is the idea of too much located in Abundance Metropolis.

Which idea are you going to concentrate your thoughts on? For years I personally fought with the idea that the world was a world of not enough. But the facts are that poor people remain poor because that is the 11
Self Development Mastermind http://www.selfdevelopmentmastermind.com

only world that they know. However, rich thoughts create for you your own world of too much. Whatever your reality is on the inside is the reality of what is on the outside. Your reality on the outside cannot and will not be changed until you change the reality on the inside. Change your reality in your mind and heart, and you can change your address once and for all. And this is where you must constantly remind yourself that there does exist a world of too much. The world of too much is a real world. It is a world for you and it is a world for me if we only choose to live in it and learn what it takes to live in it.

Choose Your World The World Of Too Much Or The World Of Not Enough !
Ask yourself these questions once more: What world am I living in? Where do you spend your dreams? Where do you focus your thoughts? What vocabulary do you speak? Do you speak words of lack that are filled with lack-lustred excuses, or do your phrases expound the abundance of supply that permeates everything you do? Do you worry or do you work with a purpose and a plan? If you spend more time in the company of Naysayers and do nothings then you will live a dismal life. However, if you choose to place yourself in an atmosphere of hope and possibility and allow yourself to be prodded and your mind stretched, then you will rise up and above whatever life you are presently living.

What You Invest Into Your Life Now Will Determine Where You Spend The Rest Of It !
So what must you invest into your life if you are to escape Scare City and find yourself in Abundance Metropolis? Time. Where you spend your time today, tomorrow and the next day will determine the future that you purchase.

12
Self Development Mastermind http://www.selfdevelopmentmastermind.com

Analyse your days. How much time do you invest in personal development? How much time do you spend in educating yourself in the art of rich living? How much time do you read or listen to material that educates you in how you can start living the too much life?

How many seminars do you attend to keep you up to speed in your career, your business, your knowledge of those things that will lead you on to a better life? How much time do you spend in the presence of mentors? How much time do you devote as a student of success? Your time is your most precious commodity, so never waste a single drop. Drink deep and live well. Great lives are the culmination of great thoughts followed by great actions.

There is an ancient proverb that says: When wisdom enters into your heart, and knowledge is pleasant to your soul; discretion will preserve you and understanding shall keep you. When you combine both wisdom and knowledge you get common sense. But then add to that formula discretion. Discretion means the quality of being discreet; circumspection; having judgment that is sound, being prudent, tactful; having the ability to make such judgment; individual freedom of decision or choice. 13
Self Development Mastermind http://www.selfdevelopmentmastermind.com

Lets take a look at the word circumspection. Circumspection simply means to examine carefully all the circumstances that may effect a determination or a decision and of being wary, vigilant, prudent and cautious. These are the necessary ingredients for a life lived long and a life lived well; a preserved life that rides through the storms, that weathers the winds of change and is kept in good shape as one pursues their dreams. The old proverb tells us that in being discreet we will be preserved. That means that we will be sustained and that we will be kept or saved from harm or destruction. In this day and age, where there is so much violence, it is something that is of major importance to those of us who have families. But what are the characteristics of a discreet life? What qualities must you develop and what habits must you adopt in order to be preserved from those things that threaten your success on a daily basis? Here are five points that I believe will assist you in your pursuit. 1. Get The Facts Never rely on hearsay. Go to the source and find out the facts. This relates to anything that you are involved in. Dont rely on the reporter. Go to the reported. Whether it is investments, motivational formulas, or anything that you are interested in, make certain that you get as many viewpoints as possible and then compare notes. Do your own research and never be reliant on the so-called expertise of another without doing your own personal investigation. The reason so many of us make bad judgements is because we have been mentally lazy. 2. Find A Mentor Mentors are available everywhere. You will be surprised how freely information and input is available. People in general are more than willing to share information with those who have a hunger and a willingness to learn. On the internet there are forums that allow you to ask questions and it certainly provides a platform for you to discover your mentor. Once you have found them, make certain that they walk the talk. By spending time with them you will soon discover the truth behind their words, and through your friendship you will discover fortunes untold. 3. The 100-1 Rule I dont know if it is a law or not, but I have come across this principle time and time again. I recently stumbled across it once again in an investment property book. The writer stated that if you look at 100 properties, put in 14
Self Development Mastermind http://www.selfdevelopmentmastermind.com

offers on 10, and try arranging financing for 3, you may end up buying 1. In another industry they recommended that if you talk to 100 people you will ultimately end up with 1 person who will shine above all the rest. Success is a numbers game. Go through the numbers and you cannot but learn and succeed. 4. Be Vigilant Dont relax in your success. Guard it wisely. I have seen so many people who have had a taste of success and then they suddenly stop doing what got them success in the first place. They think that once they have it, it will remain forever. Not true. It requires vigilance and diligence. If before you succeeded you read a book 20 minutes a day, then dont stop. If you attended seminars, then continue doing so. If you talked to a certain number of people each day, then increase it. Whatever it took to get you where you are, then dont decrease. Multiply your efforts. Work harder. Renew your dream and go for it. 5. Make Your Own Decisions If you allow others to make decisions for your life, you will wake up one day in a place that you never planned to be. Always, always, always make your own decisions for your own life. Listen to the experts, but dont let them rule your decisions. Allow them to guide you, but become educated in the area that the experts are operating so that you can then make your own qualified decisions. Again, dont have a lazy mind. Rather, have a learned mind. These five discretionary qualities will assist you in the preservation and the sustainment of a successful life. Apply them today and preserve your freedom to succeed. Discreet lives are preserved for great achievements.

I recently had the following information shared with me at a seminar on how to live a life of excellence. So let me pass it on to you 1. Build with purpose and passion. 2. Identify problems and search for answers. 3. Be original by learning from others successes, but at the same time pursue your own. 4. Help build community wherever you go. 5. Venture from your comfort zone. 6. Respect each other and yourself. 7. Think out of the box. 8. Deliver more than you promise. 15
Self Development Mastermind http://www.selfdevelopmentmastermind.com

9. Take risks and have fun. And as Earl Nightingale said, Excellence always sells.

What is motivation? Motivation is the motivating force, stimulus, or influence. It is the incentive. It is the drive. It is the petrol.

It is the spark. It is the dream. It is the idea. It is the inspiration. It is the beginning of all things. For without motivation there will never be the moti-motion that is required to achieve the improbable and overcome the impossible. And without the moti-motion therell never be the initial unveiling of motivation and the ongoing supply of energy that will maintain and sustain the motivation.

It is what helped the creator of Hotmail to start a business in 1996 and develop it, without any business background and no money, to finally sell it on to Microsoft a few years later for $400 million. It is what will take you where you want to go and have what you want to have in your life. Hop on the train at Motivation Station and defy inflation, by causing a sensation that will rock your nation Then sail across the ocean in your yacht Moti-Motion, as you show true devotion and you follow your emotion But what really comes first? The motivation or the moti-motion. Lets find out! Dont allow yourself to live your days as a lake of potential. Be a river. Live a fluid life and flow. For it is in flowing that theres the greatest growing and it is in the giving that theres the greatest living. Stop spinning your wheels, because all youll end up with is a rut. Four-wheel drive your way through each day by tapping into your motivating force, by pursuing your stimulus and by discovering your influence. This is the motivation required to live a motivated life. So where do you find your motivation? Its all around you and its within you. But in order for you to be motivated youre first going to have to act. Waiting for motivation to drop into your lap will not be enough for you to experience the life you want to live. This is where moti-motion kicks in.

Motivation Plus Action = MOTI-MOTION !

So here are a number of moti-motions that will add potion to your motivation.

1. Read I make it my habit to read on a daily basis. I read anything that will inspire me. My mind acts as a radar. I dont read rubbish. I read books or magazines or newspapers or blogs or newsletters or journals that inspire me. I skim through the no-brainer material and find stories of others who fought against all odds and succeeded. I read positive material and refuse to wallow in negative renditions. 2. Listen I listen to inspirational music. I listen to inspirational speeches. I listen to successful people. I listen to my own heart. I pay attention to the conversations of achievers. I tune in to reports on the radio or the Internet that challenge me. I tune out from anything that doesnt support or encourage a motivated life. 3. Watch I watch inspirational movies and DVDs. I watch what other successful people do. I watch winners. I watch achievers in other fields of endeavour and draw principles of success from their lives. 4. Dream I dream my own dreams. I spend time thinking of where I want to go and how Im going to get there. I tap into my imagination and see what can be and what will be. I become as a child and dream BIG dreams. To help your imagination, place yourself in the position to experience your dream. Drive it, walk through it, smell it, taste it if you can and the tactile experience will be able to be recalled in the imagination of your mind.

As You Act, You Will Become !

5. Write I write my goals and dreams down on paper. I carry these with me wherever I go in my wallet. I refer to them regularly. When you write it, then you can sight it. 6. Plan Attach a date to your dreams and formulate a step by step plan. Dont leave things to chance. Research, investigate and formulate a blueprint for your success. 18
Self Development Mastermind http://www.selfdevelopmentmastermind.com

7. Evaluate Dont just bungle along hoping that everything will be alright. I can assure you that everything will not be alright unless you evaluate along the road towards your dreams. The winds of change blow infrequently and it is the one with the plan who evaluates their progress along the way and jibes and tacks, adjusting the plan, finetuning the plan, who will win. 8. Speak What you say will determine your day. Speak your dreams. Breathe them and believe them. The more you speak them, the more they will become a part of your psyche and of your reality. Your words will create your world. 9. Do Dont stop doing. Be a man and woman of action. This is the true outworking of motivation: Moti-motion. Thats motivation in action. Moti-motion and motivation are the inseparable twins that constitute a motivated life.

It was a windy day - perfect for kite flying. All the neighbours seemed to come out to watch the event and it wasnt long before the new aeronautically engineered apparatus of flight ingenuity was launched on its maiden voyage.

As my friend, David, who was holding the kite, ran the length of the park, he let out more and more string. It seemed to take a very short time before the large kite appeared as a speck in the sky. The string and the kite were swallowed up by the wind, like a milkshake being sucked up through a straw. 19
Self Development Mastermind http://www.selfdevelopmentmastermind.com

Once he had reached the edge of the park, the entire group of onlookers stood up against someones fence, totally entranced by the majesty of height that had been achieved by such a slight structure. John, our next door neighbour, asked, Can I have a hold of the kite? He was the same age as David, so even though none of us little kids would have ever been allowed to hold the string, he was in for a chance. To this day, I cant recall what exactly happened next. All I remember is that there was a point in the exchange when the string left both of their hands simultaneously. We were all stunned as we watched the string ball, wrapped firmly around a piece of wood, dance across the park. It was dragged along at an incredibly fast speed by the kite which was now even a smaller speck in the sky than before What a site it must have been as a dozen kids were seen running , screaming and yelling across the park in pursuit of a piece of skipping wood. Not even the fastest runner in our school, and that was David, had a chance of catching it. The wind was too strong, the kite too high and the bouncing apparatus had had a clear head start before any of us could make chase. The rest of the afternoon was spent unravelling the string from tree branches, power lines, roofs of houses, up and over wooden fences and across roads. Finally, the damaged kite was recovered from someones backyard. Fortunately it hadnt been the cranky mans backyard; the one who liked collecting kids soccer balls for a hobby. I could just imagine the sneer on his face as he tried to fish a kite out of one of his trees. This event certainly took the wind out of our sails for kite flying. The next time I flew a kite, I bought a ready made one, but I was always sure that I flew it in the wide open spaces, far away from power lines and peoples backyards. So what did we learn from the flight of the kite? 1. The Height Of The Kite Determines The Sight In everything you do choose to take the eagle view. Look down on your circumstances and dont ever allow yourself to suffer under the circumstances. Circumstances were never made to be under. They were created to be above. Think of the kite when the pressure rises. Stand back from your circumstances and gain a fresh perspective. Look at it creatively by brainstorming until you come up with an answer to solve the problem. Turn your disadvantage into an advantage. Problems were created to be solved.

20
Self Development Mastermind http://www.selfdevelopmentmastermind.com

2. Dont Let Go Hang on tight to your dream. Dont let it go. Stay focussed on your goals. They are the string and the kite is your dream. Dont pass it to another, because they wont have the same vision that you have. Share the moment with them, but dont let go of your individual dream. 3. Choose Your Space Well Set yourself up for a win by positioning yourself correctly. Research is vital at this point. Dont just plunge ahead. Get the facts and stick with them. Be a detective and learn to make investigation your key weapon for success. Ask questions. Delve deep. Get input. Surround yourself with wise counsellors. Be one of the informed so that you can make successful decisions. 4. Prepare For The Unexpected Have a contingency plan in place. Develop a range of income sources. In your specialisation diversify. Those who plan for the unexpected will not be surprised. Theyll be ready. This is why we have insurance. This is why we plan in advance. This is why we are ready to adapt and swerve. This is why we dont leave things to the last moment and by doing so we are ever ready to succeed. Any Enterprise Is Built By Wise Planning Simple, yet powerful principles learnt that day when the kite got away, and as we spent the rest of the day unravelling the disaster. The secret though is to always seek to learn from the mistakes that are made along the way. They can, at times, be your greatest teacher, if you are willing to learn. Without problems there would never be a need for solutions, and without mistakes there would never be a reason for lessons learnt.

21
Self Development Mastermind http://www.selfdevelopmentmastermind.com

Safely in the air, Wilbur warped the wings. There was an instant response and Wilbur glowed with joy. But as the glider curved, he became aware of a new instability. He adjusted the controls. There was little response. True, the glider turned. Still although puzzled, he managed a safe landing. On his fifth flight that day, Wilbur became aware of increased instability. Then the left wing dipped far too deeply. Frantically he pushed the elevator control. He was too late. The tip of the wing bit into the sand and he was hurled forward against the canvas elevator.

The birds all knew the secret of turning while in flight. But their secret was so deep no one could solve it. People said it was impossible for a heavier-thanair machine to fly. But Wilbur and Orville determined to show the world that it could and would be done.

All of us are faced with impossible situations from time to time throughout our lives. But the incredible thing is that within the word impossible is found another word possible. The more you explore impossible situations you are going to discover some possible solutions that will help you to ride through, over, under or around whatever is standing between you in your present impossible situation and take you to the land of the possible. Here are four sure-fire ways to help you to turn each and every impossibility you face into a possibility.

22
Self Development Mastermind http://www.selfdevelopmentmastermind.com

1. Take The Risks - But Avoid The Risky Before the Wright brothers ever achieved the impossibility of flying, many a life was lost by those who sought to fly. In 1896 it is recorded that in the August of that year, Otto Lilienthal, the German glider enthusiast was killed during a glide. However, when the two brothers sought a place to experiment, they knew that they were going to fail and so found a very safe piece of ground to fail on. They didnt jump off bridges or cliffs. They found a large flat piece of ground with a good strong wind and practiced failing until the day that they could fly. The place was Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. Because they took risks wisely, they were able to change the world forever. I recently had a discussion with a successful property investor. His advice was that before you ever pursue any venture; first have your exit strategy in place. Calculate the risk and ensure that even if failure occurs that you will be around to pick yourself up, brush yourself off and push on once again towards success.

Yesterdays Impossibilities Are Todays Realities

2. Speak Possibility Learn the language of the achiever and the winner. Remove the phrases, I cant afford it or I cant do that, Thats impossible or Its never been done before out of your vocabulary. By constantly thinking outside of the box, you will be setting yourself up for a rich and prosperous life. 3. Control Your Reality

Financial Reality:
If you find that financially you can never seem to make ends meet, then the best thing for you to do is to have a financial check-up. Find out exactly what you are spending and where your hard earned income is really going.

23
Self Development Mastermind http://www.selfdevelopmentmastermind.com

Prepare a budget. There are many tools available on the Internet that can help you with the process of taking hold of your financial reality. Go to your favourite search engine and type in budget planner.

Health Reality:
Obviously we should check the reality of our health. I do this personally by taking a physical at least once every two years. I service my car every 10,000 km, so it is a good idea to take care of the vehicle that I live in 24 hours a day seven days a week. Some years back I had a physical that revealed I had extremely high blood cholesterol levels and by simply adjusting my diet and adding to it regular exercise, I was able to rectify that situation before it got too serious.

Spiritual Reality:
I do a spiritual reality check-up every time I read the good book. Not only does it keep my compass pointing in the right direction for my life, but I often get some great ideas for my future Motivational Memos. Obviously there are many other areas of our life that require regular reality checkups. Make a list and do your own analysis.

Possible Thinking Leads To Possible Action

4. Expand Your Reality When I took over the responsibility for my teenage sons education a number of years ago I had incredible difficulty in getting him motivated about reading. Now for someone who writes books I found it extremely difficult to understand, but thinking back to when I was his age I could more readily identify with the dilemma. I realised that it was important for him to expand his reality so that he could grow not only in knowledge but also in wisdom. But how could I find his hot button? I discovered it. I was reading a book that explained that one way a parent helped his son to expand his reality was through the reading of biographies of people who lived the lives that his son wanted to live. So from that day he read books, written at his t reading and interest level, about Albert Einstein, Christopher Columbus, Johnny Appleseed, Susanna 24
Self Development Mastermind http://www.selfdevelopmentmastermind.com

Wesley, Florence Nightingale, Abraham Lincoln, The Wright Brothers, Isaac Newton, George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King and the list went on and on. He now loves reading. This interest in reading overflowed into his writing. With his renewed confidence he went on to run my technical and customer service department for my Web Design Company for over seven years and now owns and operates his own business. Nothing is impossible to the possible thinker.

At dawn on July 4, 1934, Marie Sklodowska Curie, at the age of 66, finally died. Her death was caused by 30 years of exposure to her greatest scientific discovery radium and its dangerous radioactivity. Otherwise known as Mrs Pierre Curie, Professor at the Sorbonne in Paris, Nobel Prize Winner in Physics and Nobel Prize Winner in Chemistry, the words she had written when she was only 26 rang true in her life, We must believe that we are gifted for something, and that this thing, at whatever cost, must be attained. And as Abraham Lincoln expressed so eloquently when he was inaugurated as President of his nation for the second time, With malice toward none; with charity for all; with firmness in the right, let us strive on to finish the work that we are in Both GIANTS, one in the world of science and the other in the world of politics, impressed upon themselves and others the importance of attaining what must be attained and of striving for what needed to be striven for. What passion! What courage! And yet each and every one of us has a mission which we have been born to complete. My challenge to you is this: Is your train (life) on the tracks that will carry you towards your missions fulfilment? Maybe youve been derailed. Maybe you havent even got on board and havent really thought about it. Maybe you think that youre not important enough. Maybe you fail to recognise your own very personal giftings. Stop right now and consider this! You are special! Thats rightS-P-E-C-I-A-L! And that is why I want to stir you into action so that you can create an explosive existence.

25
Self Development Mastermind http://www.selfdevelopmentmastermind.com

Dont just cruise through another year. Dont do the slipstream thing, sliding yet through another boooooring year. EXPLODE! Get yourself packed so full of dynamite that you will literally blow-up. When tomorrow hits, the wick will be lit and you will be ignited; ready to shoot like a skyrocket whizzing off and into space. Higher than a kite, youll be leaving your own personal jet stream where you can start to write your own messages in the sky for everyone else to see. Youre not going to be the one left standing on the shore craning your neck to see what letter of the alphabet is coming as the skywriter breaks the blue background with his white graffiti. You are in charge. You are the composer of the music of your life. You are the designer of your destiny. You have the power of choice within your heart and your hands. You are the master of the masterpiece that is your life. Let me inspire you to make this next twelve months that will be remembered as your year of beginnings and your year of never endings.

Make Your Life A Life Of Beginnings And A Life Of Never Endings !

But how do you do that? Here are five simple steps to guide you in your pursuit of an explosive life that will keep exploding all the way into eternity. 1. Bury The Past There are two types of past that we all experience and must bury. One is the negative past. Now the best thing to do with that, and we all have some part of our past lying in negative soil, is to bury it. One person suggested that if you ever had anything of a negative nature coming back up to your mind haunting you, then the best thing is to write it on a piece of paper and physically tear it up. Rip it into a million pieces if you wish. Really take out your aggression on that piece of paper. Burn it if you like, but once and for all bury the old baggage.

26
Self Development Mastermind http://www.selfdevelopmentmastermind.com

Even physically dig a hole in your backyard with a shovel and toss the torn pieces of paper in there if you wish, and say a prayer or two if you like. The important thing is that you rid yourself of that negative past once and for all. Otherwise you will continue to be tripped up by your past for the rest of your days. Second is the positive past. Bury this in your heart. Call up these positive events time and again for reinforcement of the fact that you are a winner and that you are possessed with the ability to overcome, no matter the circumstances. Keep a list of these wins. Keep memorabilia in a success file if you wish. One way to keep a record of these events is to maintain a journal. I have boxes full of old journals that I have kept in exercise books. To read them from time to time is empowering. 2. Dig Up The Dream Life has a bad habit of overshadowing and burying dreams. Many of our dreams were birthed in our lives when we were very young, and for some reason have been put aside or been left to have the dust of the years settle on them. If youve lost it, go find your dream again.

Go on. Dont put it off. Go get it. Write it down. Because once youve got your dream in place, there will be no stopping you. You will explode.

27
Self Development Mastermind http://www.selfdevelopmentmastermind.com

It is the spark that will ignite your life. It will wake you in the morning. It will keep you pushing towards it throughout the day and it will keep you up late at night. The dream will add years to your life and productivity to your years. 3. Plant A New Seed With the rediscovery, or the reignition of your dream, you must start to invest in your life and in the lives of others. But the facts are that if you are hungry, then how are you ever going to feed others? Invest in yourself. Feed your dream. Read and grow in knowledge and understanding of your chosen path. Read and inwardly digest. Gorge yourself if you like, because if you are full to overflowing then you will then be more than able to feed those who come to be fed. Make learning your ambition, and listening your habit. Listen with both your eyes and your ears for there is so much to learn. A seed planted in your life will ultimately produce a crop that will feed so many more than you could, at first, have ever imagined. Seeds hold an incredible power within them that will ultimately multiply. So plant a new seed.

First The Seed And Then The Harvest !

4. Water The Crop Planting a seed is not enough. You must spend time watering the seed through constant attention. Read. Listen. Surround yourself with mentors. Keep the company of likeminded positive people. Teach. Share. Write. Finetune your dream. Readdress your daily, weekly, monthly and yearly goals from time to time and see if they still light the fire within your belly. Track your progress and evaluate often. 28
Self Development Mastermind http://www.selfdevelopmentmastermind.com

Always remain teachable and correctable. Critics can at times sting, and yet be some of our greatest tutors. Stay on track. Dont allow yourself to be distracted or pulled aside from the path you have chosen. But at the same time learn to recognize the breezes that will gently blow your sails and guide your craft (life) in a more correct route. Whatever you do, always follow after peace in your own heart. Utilise your strengths and open yourself up to new learning experiences. 5. Reap The Harvest This is your finest hour: the ultimate fulfilment of your dream.

Dont forget though that the harvest time can at times require the greatest expenditure of effort. So dont slacken off. Roll up your sleeves and pitch in. Marie Curie achieved her dream. But even though it ultimately claimed her life, her discovery has positively impacted the lives of millions throughout the world. Abraham Lincoln didnt live much longer, after his second inauguration and the restoration of peace after the Civil War, and yet he freed millions from slavery both then and in the future. Dreams are often paid with a high price, but a life lived without a dream is a life never lived.

One Christmas, amidst the opening of presents, the singing of carols and the enjoyment of Christmas lights, I found myself engrossed in a book written about the life of one of the greatest men who lived last century, Winston Churchill. As my children played with their new found presents I was traversing through the battlefields of the Boer War and the 1st and 2nd World Wars with the man who guided the free world to victory in the 1940 s with the power of his pen and the majesty of his inspiring words. He was a motivator par excellence. He too lived in a time of incredible change and so spoke with great authority when he said himself that: The only way a man can remain consistent amid changing circumstances is to change with them while preserving the same dominating purpose. Winston knew that he had been born for such an hour and when approached to lead his nation, at the time of crisis, as Hitler and his hordes marched across Europe, he was able to write.I felt as if I were walking with destiny, and that all my past life had been but a preparation for this hour and for this trial. He knew that hed been born to lead and went on to state thatPower, for the sake of lording it over fellow-creatures or adding to personal pomp, is rightly judged base. But power in a national crisis, when a man believes he knows what orders should be given, is a blessing. In any sphere of action there can be no comparison between the positions of number one and numbers two, three, or four. And it is for that reason that in his address to the House of Commons he spoke confidently, You ask, what is our aim? I can answer in one word: Victory victory at all costs, victory in spite of terror; victory, however long and hard the road may be; for without victory there is no survival. At this time I feel entitled to claim the aid of all, and I say, Come, then, let us go forward together with our united strength. Here was a man with a Dominating Purpose in life. The only way a man can remain consistent amid changing circumstances is to change with them while preserving the same dominating purpose. Wise words from a wise man who backed up his words with dynamic action. And now that we find ourselves in the 3rd Millennium B.C. we are bombarded with an ever increasing rate of change that will swallow the masses, which 30
Self Development Mastermind http://www.selfdevelopmentmastermind.com

refuse to move with it, and yet will transport those who flow with it into a world of incredible opportunity. But first lets take a look at the word consistency. This word does not mean that one has to remain firmly entrenched in the past. It speaks to me of the need to be alert and of the importance of evaluating each and every event or every circumstance that happens to pass our way. Throughout Winstons political career, which spanned a period of 60 years, he was known for changing political parties and for even contradicting his views. The reason? Because he held true to his convictions and was willing to change his views when changing circumstances called upon such change. At times, I view things so much more differently with the passing of years. Things that were of significant importance, and for which I rallied hard and long for in my twenties, are now but a distant fog that lack relevance and even the importance to even consider.

Walk With A Wise Man And Become Wise !

Unfortunately, much wisdom often only comes through the years of experience and the road far travelled. However, immersed in the wisdom of the ages, through reading and through the association with much wiser men and women will certainly speed up the process. 1. Change With The Changing Circumstances There is only one way to change and that is to change. Jump in the deep end and start swimming. And how do you do that? First you have to fix the interior and then, and only then, can you sort out the exterior. Someone once told me that when people were set free from slavery, that you can take the person out of slavery, but you cant take the slavery out of the people overnight. The interiors architecture must be changed first and foremost before the exteriors beauty can begin to shine. 31
Self Development Mastermind http://www.selfdevelopmentmastermind.com

Thats why, if I dump a million dollars on your doorstep and you have never handled a million dollars in your life before, statistics tell us that the million dollars will slip through your fingers in no time fast. So what do you do? Become, as Robert Kiyosaki so eloquently shares, financially literate. To be successful you must first think successful thoughts. To win you must first think winning thoughts. The battleground is found within your mind, and it is there that the battle must be waged. Positive thoughts injected into your life on a consistent basis, backed by positive action, will lead to positive results. That is one reason why I soak myself in the biographies of great men and women who have lived and are still living. That is why I am always reading half a dozen books all at once and a few extra on the side.

Walk With A Changed Man And Become Changed !

That is why I read with pencil in hand and notebook at the ready waiting to capture that thought that will leap from the page and be imbedded in my mind. This is so that not only I am benefited, but that those who read my writings receive the best of the best. Read as a student, always at the ready to pluck a nugget of gold from within the dusty pages of a volume you have uncovered. Riches untold will not stay away from your door. 2. Preserve The Same Dominating Purpose What births passion? What produces drive? What steers creative workmanship? What forces courage to rise from within?

32
Self Development Mastermind http://www.selfdevelopmentmastermind.com

Winston Churchill was a man driven by destiny. He had an insatiable appetite for hard work and for learning. Whether it was politics, painting, writing, journalism, bricklaying or any other pursuit, he was gleaning from others, reading and studying, and with that fill of information he would forge his way ahead into the unknown with the confidence that nothing was impossible to him. Did he always get it right? Was he infallible? No. His life was filled with flaws and he committed reprehensible errors that not only impacted his life but even destroyed the lives of many others along the way. And yet, he would rise up and above the black dog that often overwhelmed him, left the errors committed behind him and pushed on ahead. And that is what it takes if you are going to preserve the same dominating purpose throughout your lifetime. Winston never forgot this, even when he was in the political wilderness that lasted ten years before being called upon to lead his nation against Hitler. With this example as our guide, each of us needs to ask ourselves: What is my dominating purpose? Thats right. If I was to ask you to give me in one sentence what is your dominating purpose is, could you answer me?

It is an important question, that any human being, who wants to not only exist on planet earth, but rather to contribute something of significance

33
Self Development Mastermind http://www.selfdevelopmentmastermind.com

during their lifetime, needs to ask themself until they find a satisfactory answer? Some other ways of asking yourself the same question are: What What What What is your passion? is your dream? is your burning desire? gets you more excited than anything else in this world?

Find the answer to these questions and you will be at the starting gates for the fulfilment of your dominating purpose. Dont waste another minute on planet earth without having this question settled in your mind once and for all. You have been born for a purpose; a dominating purpose, for a dominating purpose is the pulsating heart of a successful life.

If you want to change the way you live in the next twelve months, there are a few vital ingredients that will be necessary if that desired change will actually take place. Resolutions are useless unless you back up your resolve with a plan of action. You must also acquire the correct knowledge and then put yourself within an environment whereby you can access ongoing wise counsel. I recently heard about a multi-millionaire who had a dream. It may surprise you, but his first dream was not to own a condominium or a hotel resort beside the ocean. His very first dream was to have at his disposal a team of wise lawyers, accountants, financial advisors and mentors. He knew that they in turn would be able to provide him with the necessary information and guidance that would supply him with the knowledge to acquire those very things. In addition to pursuing great deals, he spent much of his time seeking out the right people to guide him in those purchases. In doing so he set himself up to procure wealth that secured both his and his families future beyond his wildest dreams. That also included the condominiums and hotels.

He was an aggressive progressive and you too can be one. Here are four qualities of an aggressive progressive? 1. Invest In An Ongoing Education One of the greatest investments you can make is in yourself. This was once again reinforced in my own life recently when I watched a teenager I know spend $2000, of their hard earned money which they had been earning at $6 an hour in a part-time job, on a course that would expand their financial education. There were many other things that they could have spent their money on, but they realised that if they invested this money now, that they would in turn learn how to make so much more money in a far shorter period of time.

It always amazes me how many adults wince at paying $3000 -$5000 for a three day seminar and yet are willing to struggle for twenty years of their life and never change the way they think or act. 2. Gain Access To Wise Counsel Henry Ford was once accused of being ignorant. But the fact was that even though he didnt know the answers to TRIVIA-type questions, he knew people who could get him the information, because he surrounded himself with experts in their own specific fields of endeavour. To be successful, you dont have to be good at everything. You need to surround yourself with people who know more than you, and as you associate with them more and more it wont be long before that knowledge will overflow into your life. 35
Self Development Mastermind http://www.selfdevelopmentmastermind.com

3. Acquire Knowledge An aggressive progressive is hungry for the acquisition of knowledge. They listen to recordings, they attend seminars, they read book after book after book. They ask questions. They join forums on the Internet. They take online courses. They seek out opportunities to learn from every circumstance and continue at all times to have the attitude of a student. 4. Act I have written a book entitled Good Things Dont Come To Those Who Wait. If youre waiting for your ship to come in it wont be long before youll find yourself shipwrecked. Aggressive progressives dont wait. They take action. The Aggressive Progressive Challenge If you havent experienced significant positive change in the last five years then you need to do something drastic. Now! Change will only happen if you enforce change on your life. If you want a different life then do something different to what you did last year and the year before last. Dont remain in a state of digressive regressive. Move ahead now by becoming an aggressive progressive once and for all. Nothing will happen until you make it happen. Purchase that book. Buy that recording. Enrol in that seminar. Do Something! Apply the four qualities of an aggressive progressive to your life and watch powerful and exciting changes start to occur. An Aggressive Progressive makes progress through fearless action.

Some years ago, my family were the recipients of a special award that was specially created and handed to us by one of our close friends. One of the facets of the award was for believing. We had just pushed through two years of drought in a new business we had started, and at times it didnt make much sense to push on. During that period we had two choices. One was to push ahead and remain true to our dream; the other was to go back to doing what we had successfully done before. We chose to press on. With our bridges burnt we were going to make certain that our actions backed up what we believed. Believing or belief is a multi-faceted word that can portray a number of varied meanings. On one side it has very much to do with underlying faith, but at the same time we need to believe in our ability to achieve our goals. One of the things that make believing a powerful force within ones life is when it is backed up with consistency. If you say that youre one thing or another, or that you are going to do something, then it is important to make sure that your actions are consistent with your words. Back up what you say with what you do, because belief is more than just words. It is living out a lifestyle that clearly represents what you believe. In fact, belief is lifestyle. It is the backbone of any dream.

Yells of encouragement echoed throughout the still, cool air of the forest as the four-wheel drive vehicle thundered its way up the steep and badly eroded 37
Self Development Mastermind http://www.selfdevelopmentmastermind.com

dirt track. Small boulders were dislodged and spat out down the hill as the vehicles wheels slipped and slid on the muddy earth. The engine revved higher and higher as the driver endeavoured to conquer the obstacle that lay in his path. But again and again, there was one part of the steep gradient that resisted the power of both man and machine. There were half a dozen other vehicles lined up at the bottom of the hill and the determination of all involved created an air of expectancy. One six cylinder vehicle had already conquered the hill, but this four-cylinder was making hard work of it. We had come upon the scene at the top of the steep hill and after parking our three vehicles, we joined the crowd which had gathered, both young and old, to watch the spectacle. A much smaller vehicle than the first was about to tackle the seemingly impossible. Quitting Isnt An Option Quitting wasnt an option. This mountainous track had to yield and so, yet again, the smaller vehicles engine cut through the bush silence as it once again sought to traverse over rock, dirt and gravel. Like a surf ski that cuts through the surf, the vehicle cut through the dirt as if it was gliding over the very rocks that had resisted its path time and time again. Before we could catch our breath it finally conquered the hill. Cheers erupted both at the bottom and the top of the steep gradient. Yet another victory in Chichester Forest on a long weekends camping trip.

Belief Must Be Backed By Action !

This event demonstrated to me that belief is a multi-faceted word that requires the additional ingredients of visualisation, action and support in order for a result to be successfully arrived at. The drivers of the vehicles showed their belief by: 1. Believing that the mountainous track could be conquered. Inherent in each of the drivers that chose to conquer this seemingly impossible track was that they never considered not conquering it. They just simply sought the way to reach the top. It was never a question of will we? It was rather 'when' will we? 2. Surrounding themselves with a cheer squad of fellow believers. 38
Self Development Mastermind http://www.selfdevelopmentmastermind.com

It is so important to surround yourself with a support group of fellow believers. Choose them wisely. You dont need opposition. You require encouragement all the way. They in turn add power to your belief. 3. Visualising themselves at the top of the mountainous track. Each of the drivers saw them and their vehicle at the top. They even visualised how they were to overcome any hindrances along the way. Their mental picture was always one of complete and utter victory. 4. Driving their vehicle to the top. There came a point when they had to hop in their vehicle and drive. They had to drive it hard, fast and smart. This action supported by their belief got the job done. Be as the drivers of these four-wheel drive vehicles. Your vehicle is your life and you are worthy of great success. Believe that you can and you will.

I love my mind. Why you may ask? Because no matter how much I put into it, it never explodes. It is a reservoir that is always thirsty for fresh revelation and new insight. It is hungrier than a lion and more voracious than a tiger. How hungry, you might say, can that be? Well here are the pile of books next to my bed that Im currently reading or will be reading in the very near future. Ive included the titles as well as the authors: The Bible God in collaboration with a few well known authors. Marie Curie and the Discovery of Radium Ann E. In addition I have a notepad and a pen beside my bed to jot down those thoughts that fly into my head and wake me up at 2.00 am in the morning. My most precious possession you might ask? My personal library.so lets explore how you too can magnify or expand your mind. How many books do I read at once? I generally have three or four going all at once in order to magnify my mind. I have met many people in my lifetime who declare that Im not a reader. Well, I have a son who tried to convince me of that fact. And if you would have taken a look at his previous reading track record, all of us, including his teachers, would have agreed that he was not a reader. But it wasnt until I hit his hot button and found out that he had a keen interest in reading autobiographies and biographies, that overnight he was transformed from a non-reader into a reader. Every night, before he went to sleep, I found him reading. Did he like every book that he picked up to read? No. The fact is that Im the same. You dont have to read every book you pick up. If it doesnt hit the spot or the writer is atrocious, or for whatever reason, toss it. But dont stop there. Search out another book. Find another subject that inspires you and interests you.

Read Books And You Will Rewrite Your Life !

As a motivational writer I can tell you this, that at times the last book I want to read is a motivational book. I live motivation, dream motivation, eat motivation, write motivation 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. So there are times when I need a sabbatical in my reading habits. So where do I head? I read books on gardening, others on artists, particularly the Impressionist breed, but even of late have branched out into more modern areas. I read autobiographies and biographies. I tend to find myself wanting to know the author behind the book, or the artist behind the art, the musician behind the music or rather the architect behind the architecture.

40
Self Development Mastermind http://www.selfdevelopmentmastermind.com

In fact, there is one famous author, who I personally dont like his style of writing, but when it came to his autobiography, I loved that. I still havent read any of his books, but I learnt an immense amount from reading about his interesting life.

The Secret To Mind Magnification: Turn Off The TV And Turn On To A Book !
Here are some guidelines to get you back on track, if you are presently a non reader. What should I read? Define your personal interests and start there. I personally found in the early days that motivational books inspired me, but since then my tastes have further developed. For every motivational book I read, I probably read four or five other books. Its amazing that from those non-motivational books I always seem to find motivational material that is of benefit to me and others. How often should I read? Every day. How long should I read? If it has not been your habit to read in the past, then start with a page a day. Or if the chapters are short, a chapter a day. Develop the success habit of reading daily and the quantity of what you read will gradually increase. Your reading ability will also improve.

Where should I read? Everywhere. When I have an appointment, I always take a book with me. Some people like to read before they sleep of a night

41
Self Development Mastermind http://www.selfdevelopmentmastermind.com

while others like the morning vigil. Find what suits your personality and personal habits through experimentation. I dont have money to spend on books? Join your local library. It is there that you will find a tremendous resource. I have of late started to purchase investment books once a month, but always at a discounted price. Just one other suggestion: If you still have difficulty reading, there are so many audio programs available where you can listen to books being read to you. There are also a range of services that will provide you with book summaries. Search the Internet for these services, and whatever you do, you owe it to yourself, and to your ongoing education, to make reading a daily habit as you build your successful life. I once attended a seminar and in the middle of the session they played a portion of the video Chicken Run. Heres the section that they played. To put it in context, Ginger the chicken has time and time again endeavoured to organise a mass escape from the chicken farm without any success. One of the chickens, who had failed to produce eggs, has just been executed by the farmer, and so a meeting has been called by Ginger with all the chickens in attendance. Here is part of their conversation

Then laying eggs all your life and then getting plucked, stuffed and roasted is good enough for you, is it? Its a living. You know what the problem is? The fences arent just around the farm; theyre up here in your heads. Theres a better place out there. Somewhere beyond that hill has wide open spaces with lots of trees and grass. Can you imagine that? Cool green grass. Who feeds us? We feed ourselves.
42
Self Development Mastermind http://www.selfdevelopmentmastermind.com

Wheres the farm? There is no farm. Then where does the farmer live? There is no farmer Babs. Is he on holiday? He isnt anywhere. Dont you get it? Theres no morning head count, no farmers, no dogs and coups and keys and no fences. In all my life Ive never heard such a fantastic LOAD OF TRIPE. Oh face the facts ducks, the chances of us getting out of here is a million to one. Then theres still a chance.
How do you know that youre wealthy? When youre able to do what you want, when you want, with whom you want, wherever you want and as much as you want as soon as you want. How do you really know that youre wealthy? When youre able to choose whether you work or not. When youre able to pursue work that excites you. When youre able to spend quality time with your family and friends. When you have an affluent lifestyle that includes a wonderful home, cars, clothes, travel and furniture. When youre able to live a life with no limits and to basically live an extraordinary life.

43
Self Development Mastermind http://www.selfdevelopmentmastermind.com

However, for the vast majority of us, our conventional school education never prepared us for such a lifestyle. In school we are told to work hard to get good grades so that we can get a good job and work hard the rest of our life and pay taxes. Does school ever teach you how to make money? Does school teach you how to pay less taxes? Does school teach you to copy successful people? No it teaches us to be on time, take work home, dont talk back, keep working and dont question what youre doing. However, just like the chicken farm, this type of education is setting up most people for a life of failure and misery.

Youll Never Know The How Until You Have Worked Out The Why !
So how do you break out of this cycle of despair? Well first lets look at some statistics. Even though these are the Australian statistics, they are transferrable to other countries around the world. Most Australians at the age of 65 end up either dead or broke. What does broke mean? They rely on others support, handouts, pensions, donations, family and friends and/or superannuation. 81% of Australians, who make it to 65 years of age, live on less than $450 a week. They are dependent on the pension. Only 1.2% of Australians, that make it to 65, earn $1000 a week or more. Why do 95% of Australians aged 65 retire broke? Poor wealth psychology, never started to invest, too much money spent on bad debt, too lazy or too busy to invest or too afraid to invest in their own education. The First And Best Investment Is In Your Own Education So how do most people make decisions? Advice from others. But how do professionals make decisions? They get an education and they follow a system. 44
Self Development Mastermind http://www.selfdevelopmentmastermind.com

What is a system? It is a set of rules that you abide by and never break. Successful people invest both time and money on their own education and never rely on anyone else to invest their money. They make all the decisions. And when it comes to a system, there are two ways to do this. You can spend hours and hours trying to make one, or else find someone who is successful and copy them. So what is my challenge to you? Attend investment seminars. Every Saturday in our local newspaper there are always an abundance of free introductory seminars that one can attend. I attended three just this past week. From those choose the ones that will benefit you most and then spend the money and invest in your ongoing education. Once you learn it, then apply it. There is power in applied knowledge. And if there is a million to one chance that you could take your life and suddenly transform it, then I dare you to take it. The best form of real estate to invest in is found between your ears.

Its great to win, but beware of satisfaction. The tendency for many humans is to begin to cruise or settle back when they experience a few wins. But the fact is that if youre not moving forward, youre probably going backwards. So what are some ways to ensure that youre not overtaken by a satisfaction relapse?

Have a fresh goal in place that will keep your motivation fires burning. Place yourself in an environment of growth, because growth demands change. Make yourself accountable to someone who wants you to win. Pronounce your new goal out loud for others to hear, and then you will have to keep moving forward. Surround yourself with people who are more successful than you. Embrace problems and chase challenges until you see victory. Think creatively.

So I suppose my point is this: Live in a constant state of dissatisfied satisfaction and always choose to break out of your comfort zone.

45

In order to continue on a pathway of growth, it is so important to stay alive to fresh ideas and fresh inspiration. That way, every day will become an exciting adventure, and youll never find yourself stuck in the boggy waters of satisfaction.

A number of years ago I sent my 16 year old daughter on a mission. The mission was this: to purchase a new vehicle for our family at auction. Now after our research, we had discovered that we were able to purchase a top of the range vehicle with all the latest gadgets and gizmos, for thousands of dollars less than the current market value if we were simply willing to step outside the norm and do something different. So for a whole month before the event we researched. We scanned the papers, we contacted dealers, we checked out some auction websites and the websites of companies and government departments that auctioned vehicles. Then we turned up at an auction with no intention of bidding, but to simply get a feel for the auction, to gather information and to get an idea as to what people were paying.

We then outlined the exact make and colour of the vehicle that we would purchase. The following week we decided which auction we would attend and then got a hold of the current catalogue. We then narrowed down our list of possible vehicles, based on features and mileage, and we came up with four. The week previous we had established contact with a local mechanic who lived near the auction site. And the day before the auction we met with him on site and through his inspection we were able to narrow the four vehicles down to just one. 46
Self Development Mastermind http://www.selfdevelopmentmastermind.com

Then came the day of the auction, and lo and behold I had double booked myself and neither my wife nor I could be there. What would we do? So here we were with every bit of research done and the vehicle chosen and we couldnt be at the event. Thats when my 16 year old daughter piped up and said, Ill go. So at 7.00am on Friday morning I delivered my eldest daughter with her younger sister on a train that would take over an hour and a half trip to get to the auction site. The plan was this. Armed with a mobile phone, she would contact me on my mobile phone and I would guide her through the bidding process until we won. Was there ever a doubt that we wouldnt get the vehicle? Never. Why? Because we had done all the necessary research, had gained expert insight into the product we were purchasing by hiring a mechanic, had settled on a price that we would pay and were walking into the auction with a plan in place. Add to all those ingredients the 110% factor enthusiasm, and we knew that we would win. And so the time finally came. It just so happened that the vehicle we were to bid for was the very first vehicle of the morning session. So from the very beginning it was go, go, go. From within the crowd of over fifty people at the auction there was only one other bidder and as I guided Sarah with her bids I could sense the excitement and the enthusiasm in her voice. I could imagine her jumping up and into the face of the auctioneer to make sure that she was noticed as she held the mobile phone firmly to her ear. The event was short, swift and before we knew it we had placed our last and final bid to hear Going once, going twice and then the auctioneers hammer hit hard as he yelled, Sold. The vehicle was ours. The work had paid off. The research had won. The mechanic had revealed to us some inside information, and we were now the owners of a new vehicle at a bargain price. But what was the major ingredient behind such a successful venture? Enthusiasm.

Enthusiasm Is The Fire That Ignites Success !

Yes, enthusiasm always makes the difference. It is the 110% that gets results time and time again. Henry Ford had a burning enthusiasm for the motor vehicle and the object of his enthusiasm took shape and reshaped history. Thomas Edison was enthusiastic about electric light and the machine that talked and many other inventions and it was because of his enthusiasm that they became a reality. The Wright brothers were enthusiastic about creating a machine that could fly and they flew. And all throughout the ages it is enthusiasm that has time and time again been the driving force that has created the world as we know it today. It is the 110%. It is the factor that separates winners from losers and overachievers from underachievers. It enables individuals to face risk and conquer it. It turns the ordinary into the extraordinary. It transforms the impossible into the possible.

Commitment To A Goal Brings Excitement !

So what did Norman Vincent Peale say about how to get enthusiasm and keep it? He said this: Set yourself a goal that youve just got to reach. Then build under it the fire of anticipation and keep it burning you will acquire enthusiasm and never lose it..New goals, fresh objectives these are the self-perpetuating motivators of enthusiasm. Enthusiasm is the essential ingredient if greatness is ever to be achieved.

When I stayed at one of the Marriott Hotels I came across Bill Marriotts Twelve Rules Of Success. He wrote: My father often said, Success is never final. After hearing the stories of our Marriott associates, its easy to see why this is a great company. Their spirit to serve and passionate pursuit of excellence are the reasons were successful. Twelve Rules of Success. These management philosophies are a simple but powerful part of our culture and create a living tradition of values and beliefs that we share with our associates all around the world. 1. Continually challenge your team to do better. 2. Take good care of your employees, and theyll take good care of your customers, and the customers will come back. 3. Celebrate your peoples success, not your own. 4. Know what youre good at and mine those competencies for all youre worth. 5. Do it and do it now. Err on the side of taking action. 6. Communicate. Listen to your customers, associates and competitors. 7. See and be seen. Get out of your office, walk around, and make yourself visible and accessible. 8. Success is in the details. 9. Its more important to hire people with the right qualities than with specific experience. 10. Customer needs may vary, but their bias for quality never does. 11. Eliminate the cause of a mistake. Dont just clean it up. 12. View the problem as an opportunity to grow.

Albert Schweitzer once wrote, The purpose of human life is to serve and to show compassion and the will to help others. Schweitzer was one of the worlds greatest interpreters of Bach and often gave recitals in cathedrals all over Europe. His philosophical speeches and writings made him famous throughout his lifetime. Yet he chose to become an accomplished doctor and research scientist, in order to spend most of his long life as a missionary doctor in the tiny village of Lambarene, in the Gabon province of French Equatorial Africa.

49
Self Development Mastermind http://www.selfdevelopmentmastermind.com

With the world at his feet, Dr Schweitzer chose to turn his back on both fame and fortune in order to build a hospital for the forgotten people on the banks of the Ogowe River. The world now remembers him not for his achievements in music, nor for his books or even the Nobel Peace Prize he won. He is remembered because he chose to share his life generously with those in need. Albert Schweitzer backed up his compassion, which is a sympathetic emotion created by the misfortunes of another, and then accompanied that desire to help with compulsion. And what is compulsion? Compulsion is the act of compelling or the state of being compelled; a strong, irresistible impulse to carry out an act. The good book states very clearly that faith without works is dead. In the same way, compassion without compulsion is powerless. It is in the doing that things get done. It is in the pushing out from the shore of comfort that you and I can reach the heights of our greatest potential. Compassion is the feeling and the empathy, whereas compulsion is the action that will meet the need. Apart they are impotent. Together they can transform the world within which you and I live.

Etty Hillesum, a Jewish young woman, was 29 years old when she died in Auschwitz on November 1943. Both her diaries and her letters were published more than 40 years after her death, and what was revealed from all her writings was that she had a heart full of compassion for her fellow prisoners as they suffered at the hands of the Nazi regime during the Second World War. 50
Self Development Mastermind http://www.selfdevelopmentmastermind.com

Here is one portion of a letter that Etty wrote whilst knowing that her life could be taken at any time: The few big things that matter in life are what we have to keep in mind; the rest can be quietly abandoned. And you can find those few big things anywhere; you have to keep rediscovering them in yourself so that you can be renewed. And in spite of everything you always end up with the same conviction: life is good after all And to me, two of the few big things that matter more than most is the ability to find compassion in our heart, and then the compulsion to then take what is in our heart and to translate it into positive action. So my question to you is this Do you have a cause? Do you have within you a driving ambition? Do you spend more time thinking of ways that you can add to another life rather than positioning yourself to be always on the take?

Compassion Is Empowered When Enjoined By Compulsion !

That is why we must pursue a vision for our life. There must be more than having a 9 to 5 mentality where we work for money to pay the bills all our life. We have been planted on planet earth for a purpose and to have an impact on both this and future generations. Make it your determination to leave a legacy and not a debt. Find within your being the compassion to reach out to another and invest in their lives. Dont live the moment for yourself. Divide the moment with another. If you have joy, then share joy. If you have a gift, give it away. If you have knowledge, find a pupil to whom you can teach. Dont keep all the money to yourself. Tithe and make financial giving a pattern for your life. Its not surprising that within the word compassion is found the word compass. Our true north will only be found if we choose to live a compassionate life.

Compassion Is The Compass That Will Guide You To A Rich Life !

For as you transform your compassion into continual and repeated acts of compulsion, you will find that the meaning of your life will be unveiled in ways that you would never have imagined.

51
Self Development Mastermind http://www.selfdevelopmentmastermind.com

Succeed so that you can pass that success onto others. Pursue financial independence so that you can give back time and money to your community. Follow your entrepreneurial passion by answering these questions: How could I make more money and feel more secure? What kind of work would make me feel better about myself? What have I always dreamed of doing and why dont I do it? Would starting my own business help me to resolve these questions? If so, what kind of business would I like to start, to own and to build? Or maybe youre an intrapreneur who is happy working for others. Ask yourself these questions: What can I do in my current position to use my talents more effectively so that I am more satisfied? How can I help my boss to make a bigger profit? How can I help the business I work for become more efficient? How can I help to improve the safety and comfort of our workplace? What needs to be corrected? How could we achieve a greater level of excellence?

By answering these questions openly and honestly you can start to demonstrate the winning qualities of a compassionate compulsive. Compassions compulsion will pave the way to a wonderful life for not only you, but for your family, friends, associates and the world that is touched by your lifes work. Encompass your life with compassion and you will be surrounded by good things.

I have often heard the statement that it takes twenty years to become an overnight success. Having lived for more than twenty years myself, and as I 52
Self Development Mastermind http://www.selfdevelopmentmastermind.com

look at the lives of those who are successful around about me, I have come to believe this statement more and more and more. Most successful men dont hit their straps until their fifties. I know for certain that that was the case for the famous French artist Monet. I know it from the example of my friends who own one of the fastest growing coffee franchises on the planet. And there are many other examples that I could cite. That doesnt mean that you cant experience success at an earlier age, but it does seem to me, that those whom I know, who have developed long lasting success; that is both sustained and exponential, have spent many years being developed in the darkroom of their lives. They have spent that time being prepared for future outstanding success, and throughout that preparation they have been expanded greatly on the inside. Because of that process they can handle the expansion of their lives that is now openly visible for all to see. This is why I spent many years reading and studying. I knew for a fact that if I was going to do anything of great significance in this life, I was going to have to prepare myself. I recall spending many hours locked away in the basement of the Newcastle University, many years ago, reading the original works of Ralph Waldo Emerson. The books were so old that the pages were beginning to crumble in my hands. But all I knew was this my mind was being expanded by the power of the thoughts that Emerson had written onto the page, and even though I didnt understand much of what he wrote in the English language of the 19th century, I knew for one thing that I was eating liquid gold that was expanding me on the inside.

And that is why I mostly read books written by some of the greatest philosophers who have ever lived. I also love to read the biographies of great men and women where I can get inside their minds and study them.

I recently acquired the complete works of Winston Churchills The Second World War. My most treasured volume though is still the Bible. By reading these classics I continue to associate with great men and women, while at the same time expanding my mind, and in doing so expanding my capacity. I know that I can now step forward into the future with confidence that I will be able to fulfil the dreams that have been in my heart for decades. You too can do the same.

What our world needs now, more than ever, are positive role models and the continued dispersion of the positivity philosophy. Too many live their lives in a constant and unending cycle of despair and regret. This does not have to be so. By simply changing our perspective we can gain a whole new slant on the world in which we live and on the future that lies before each and every one of us. The world is as you see it. Just like the person who looks at a glass of water that they declare is half full or half empty. It just depends on which way you perceive it and how you respond with your mind and your mouth. I personally believe in the longevity of positivity. Why? Because I have made it my lifes purpose to study mankind, and in finetuning my study I have also become a student of success. Through all the suffering that mankind has been subjected to, throughout the thousands of years that man has inhabited the earth, the light of positivity has continued to always shine through. It is a fact: that which is positive ultimately outlives and outlasts that which is negative. Good conquers evil. Love destroys hate. Peace reigns supreme over war. Positivity nullifies the power of negativity. Oh there will still be those who will seek to destroy. But we must not be moved by this. We must stand firm and strong on the foundations of our positive belief. History confirms that there is a law of sowing and reaping in place. This law cannot be broken. Those who seek to sow destruction will be destroyed.

54
Self Development Mastermind http://www.selfdevelopmentmastermind.com

However, those who sow positivity will ultimately reap a positive life that will have a positive impact on the entire world. When you consider the 2nd World War, when the free world faced one of its most harrowing hours, there was one man who stood out amongst them all. His name? Sir Winston Churchill. For all his fine qualities, he was not a faultless man. He had, throughout his career, made some terrible errors of judgment. And the empire that he represented had committed some horrific blunders when dealing with the vastness of the empire that they had created.

But that aside, when the darkness of despotic government sought to snare Europe and all its surrounds, there was one man who stood firm as he gave resounding speeches that stirred the hearts of the oppressed multitudes. He made it very clear that he would never give up until freedom was won for all. Where there was darkness he saw light. Where there was negativity he could only visualise positivity. Where there was fear there was demonstrated faith. Where there was doubt there was supplied hope. It was that spirit of determination that gripped the hearts of men and women, both in his own homeland and amongst the allies that eventually, after many years of struggle, brought about the crushing defeat of the enemy. We too can make the longevity of positivity a reality in our lives by simply determining in our hearts that it will be so. Here are five keys to help you: 1. Be Positive

55
Self Development Mastermind http://www.selfdevelopmentmastermind.com

To be positive is not to ignore the presence of negativity in our world, but rather to believe in the power of the positive and in the knowledge that that positive power has the greatest and long-lasting energy to override any negative power in the final hour. Peter G. James Sinclair Its a fact. There is an abundance of negativity that fills our world. Turn on the television, read the newspaper or simply listen to some of the conversations in your local supermarket and you will find little positive being discussed. But the great news is that you and I do not have to partake of the morsels of negativity that are passed our way. There is another menu available and if you eat of that, you will develop into a far healthier and wealthier individual. Feed on positive materials. Surround yourself with positive friends. Submit your ears to the wisdom of positive mentors, and allow only positive statements to flow from your mouth. By all means deal with the negative, but always keep your major focus on the positive. Do it all your life and you will live well and you will live long. 2. Be Positive About Who You Are What I must do, is all that concerns me, not what the people think. It is easy in the world to live after the worlds opinion; it is easy in solitude to live after our own; but the great man is he who in the midst of the crowd keeps in perfect sweetness the independence of solitude. Ralph Waldo Emerson Never allow another to rain on your parade. Be confident in who you are. Know this, that there is only one you and that you have been created for a purpose. What other people think is totally irrelevant. You must always be true to yourself and to your conscience, for it is you that you must live with for the rest of your days. Be grateful for your peculiar gifts that make you different to everyone else around you. You are a unique and that means simply one thing: you are extremely special. 3. Be Positive About What You Do Let every man be occupied, and occupied in the highest employment of which his nature is capable, and die with the consciousness that he has done his best. Sydney Smith

56
Self Development Mastermind http://www.selfdevelopmentmastermind.com

There are no small tasks. There are only those who do tasks with small minds and because of that have created small tasks. Approach every task you undertake with a BIG attitude and that is the attitude that you should always carry with you as you continue to discover the gift that lies within you. Not all of us can arrive at our point of self-discovery immediately, but we can make the journey a worthy training ground by performing every task that we undertake with the spirit of excellence. The development of that habit will definitely prepare you for your greatest hour when it does finally arrive. 4. Be Positive About Where Youre Going Who shoots at the midday sun, though he be sure he shall never hit the mark, yet as sure he is he shall shoot higher than who he aims but at a bush. Sir Philip Sidney Live your life with purpose. Have a goal. Write it down. At least if you have a target in place you will be more likely to hit the bullseye. Develop the ability to dream on a regular basis. Make it a pattern of your personal path. Dream BIG, live BIG, believe BIG.

The BIGGER you dream, the BIGGER you will become. Those who choose to expand their mind with a dream will ultimately expand their lives. First the dream, then the goal, then the plan plus applied action - and finally the reality. 5. Be Positive About How Youre Going To Get There 57
Self Development Mastermind http://www.selfdevelopmentmastermind.com

Every citizen of our state ought to apply himself to that one thing to which his genius most inclines him. Plato When you have discovered the what, it is then time to plan the how. How do you do that? Start asking yourself some questions:

What do I want to do? How can I do it? Who can help me get it done? What do I need to help me get it done? Where can I do it best? How much will it cost to do it? Where will I get the money? How long before I can earn it back?

Set goals. Put in place the tasks that you must perform to achieve those goals. Put a date on it. Spend time talking to a mentor about your plan. And while youre at it shout, Long live positivity! Im positive that those who live positively will far outlive and outlast those who live negatively.

There have been times in the past when potential clients have put my sales team on the spot by demanding, Convince me that I need. whatever product they require. They then lean back in their chair as if they are waiting for some performance to be performed. Now at times this can prove to be rather threatening, especially for a novice. But someone who has posture will not be fazed by such a statement, and in this article I want to present to you a strategy that will help you to rise above any condescending approach that is thrust upon you. Respond in your mind by stating, Excuse me. Convince me that you are worthy to become my client. Now to some, that may smack of arrogance but the fact is that if you dont ooze belief, out of every particle of your being, you will find yourself being used as a doormat. When it comes to business, to friendship and to any other relationship, I am selective. Why? Because my life depends upon it. I dont do business with everybody. Over the years I have become extremely selective as to whom I do business with and qualify people before I even get 58

to sit down with them. I dont beg. I dont grovel. As a professional I am confident in the delivery of what I do, and therefore have created clear directives that clients must follow if they do business with me. The end result is that I have no bad debt, am never chasing money and can sleep soundly at night. I have positioned myself for success by being in total control. I have even had potential clients say to me after I have clearly outlined the terms of us doing business, But that means you are in total control. My response? Exactly. And as a result, because I have taken leadership, the greater percentage of those people end up doing business with me and we are then both positioned to create a long term relationship that benefits both their business and mine. People in our world are looking for leadership. So dont be pushed around. Stand up filled with the power of posture and you will find others following you. They will respect you for your integrity, the clarity of the boundaries you have created and for your strength of character. But at the same time be willing to walk away from those who are unwilling to yield to your directives. I can assure you that if you do, you will be saved from a lot of future heartache and at the same time open yourself up to reap bountiful results in all that you do.

There is one particular aspect of the American way of life that I really enjoy, and that is the fact that it is expected, by those who serve you, that you not only pay them for their service, but that you always add some extra money to the bill in the form of a tip. Now for those of us who live in Australia, this is not a normal practice. However, at the end of my trip to L.A., I needed to spend an hour in the lobby of my hotel as I waited for the shuttle bus that was booked to take me to the airport. It was then that I noticed the bellman for the first time. He had a great attitude and seemed to make everybody he served laugh. At one point he even did a little jig on the hotel floor. I appreciated that, and I know that the rest of his customers did too.

59
Self Development Mastermind http://www.selfdevelopmentmastermind.com

He was somewhat surprised though as I thrust some dollars into his hand before leaving the hotel foyer. He asked me, What was that for? I responded, For making me happy. In my books this fellow was not just receiving a tip for having a great attitude. He was TIP-TOP. It might seem crazy to those of you who do not have tipping as part of your culture, that I am excited about giving money away to others. Lets face it. Whats so great about giving more money away than you think you should? But if that is what you are thinking, then think again. When you have the opportunity to give more than what is expected, then you are actually administering a flow that can ultimately result in a flood. A nation that gives is a nation that lives. The spirit of generosity will only create one thing: a generous spirit. It is more than just about money. It is more about having a prosperous attitude. Tipping to me encourages those who serve to serve even better. Reward is an important part of motivation and should always be engendered in every family, organisation or nation. Tipping is one such reward for expended effort.

To be motivated, we either need a whip from behind or the enticement of a carrot from in front. I dont know about you, but Id choose the carrot time and time again. Here are some carrots that will guide you in your pursuit of the tip-top life. 1. Make Excellence Your Trademark Dont ever be satisfied with second best. Choose to do everything to the best of your ability. If your goal is to always be excellent, then you will find the means and the skills to achieve excellence in everything you do. 2. Always Provide First-Class Service When you serve, serve well. And in your serving provide first-class service. And what is first-class service? It is the service that you would expect if you were served. Do unto others as you would wish to be done. 3. Do More Than Expected Those who always go the extra mile will always generate a smile. I love the companies that put in a lolly when my order has been returned. I enjoy the kind email or note that is sent to me that I never expected. 4. Find Ways To Add The WOW Factor Make it your mission to really impress whomever you are dealing with. Give something away for free. Do what others dont do. I love going to my favourite coffee shop that has a loyalty program in place. Every five coffees I get a free one. They get my business time and time again. Heres My Tip To Get To The Top: Do Everything Tip-Top So in summary, if you make it your mission to put your all into all that you do, you will have all that you ever need to live a successful life. Do your best and youll be blessed. Treat others with respect and never forget to say thankyou.

Self Development Mastermind http://www.selfdevelopmentmastermind.com

A new seven-star hotel was built in Dubai. Now being a lover of the Sheraton Hotel chain for many years, it was a surprise when the Versace Hotel was built directly across the road from the Sheraton here on the Gold Coast, and especially when it was heralded as the first six-star hotel to be built in Australia. So when it comes to living, dont settle for three-star, four-star, five-star or even six-star. Lets aim for seven-star living! So how do you achieve this? Well here are seven tips to consider and apply immediately to your life. Star 1 Develop A Great Attitude Every day you live, you and I have a choice to make. What attitude are you going to carry with you? Always choose a great attitude.

Star 2 Develop a Vision For Your Life Your vision will come from within and can be drawn from your natural gifts and desires. And if thats not enough tune into another leaders vision and throw your weight behind it. Star 3 Write Your Goals Written goals add power to your life. Having written goals now for over twenty years, I have seen too many things that Ive written down come to pass, to think otherwise. Star 4 Believe That Success Is Yours If you dont believe it, then who will? Think Success! Reject failure thoughts. Remind yourself consistently that you are a success and expect great things to happen in your life. Star 5 Destroy Fear Through Action By simply choosing to act, even while the butterflies are still getting into formation in your stomach, fear will run from you. Star 6 Think Creative Thoughts Immerse yourself constantly in an environment of creativity. One way to do this is to keep a journal and to take at least thirty minutes a day to record your thoughts. It is often in solitude that your greatest ideas will be birthed. Star 7 Help Others You actually learn more when you teach others. The more you give away the more you will receive. Find someone who needs mentoring and start teaching. And as youre mentoring seek your own mentor to teach you. Its as simple as offering to meet over a cup of coffee and make sure that you pay for them.

So dont settle even for five star or six star living. Go to the top immediately and choose to live a quality seven-star life.

If there is one word of wisdom I can offer you today its this: stop comparing yourself to those around you. The days of keeping up with the Jones or the Smiths are dead and gone. Stop looking at the other guys car, because if you knew the truth of it all, youd probably be glad to know that you dont have to pay his monthly lease bill. I have seen it time and time again especially in tough economic times the shedding of top end vehicles and multi-million dollar mansions because the vehicles and properties were never owned by the occupants in the first place. They were owned by the bank. So stop comparing yourself with others and their stuff. The only person you should be comparing yourself with is you and your last week, month or years performance. Here are some questions to prime your personal comparison pump

How far have you come? What skills have you added to your resource in that time frame? How much more money have you saved? How much bad debt have you reduced? How many credit cards have you cut up? What have you produced in the past twelve months? What new mentors have you added to your circle of influence? What new friends have you added to your circle of peers? 64

Self Development Mastermind http://www.selfdevelopmentmastermind.com

How many people have you positively influenced? How much money have you given to your church or charity? How much time or effort have you volunteered for no charge? Have you grown as a person? Are you more in love with your spouse and your children than last year?

But dont spend one minute on a comparison analysis with someone else. Its a total waste of time. And as someone once told me, If we all put our problems into a hat and then picked out of it someone elses problems, wed all ask for our own back. Learn to live in a state of dissatisfied satisfaction. Enjoy today, but continue to dream and hope for a better tomorrow. But whatever you do, dont waste today worrying about what you could have done yesterday. Learn from yesterday, but dont stay there. Do better today than you did then, and you will be assured of a better tomorrow. Make it your focus to only compare your todays efforts with yesterdays with a constant mission to improve. This will set you up for some hugely successful tomorrows. And remember this, that to compare yourself with others will only create one thing despair. Dont go there!

Some time ago I was embroiled in an ugly legal threat devised by men who had nothing better to do than to lure their prey into a net, and even before both myself and two other parties knew it, we were the victims of some vicious personal attacks aimed at destroying both ourselves and our businesses, and even some dear relationships that had been reforged between the time I first met these men until when the attacks began. The sad thing is that these men were not what I would call stupid men. They were seemingly gifted with great talent, but had allowed themselves, because of past challenges faced, to seek devious ways to get ahead. And one of their greatest ploys seemed to be that if their dreams were seemingly unachievable, that they would seek to steal or destroy the dreams of others in the process. How childish! So how do you guard yourself against these dream stealers? Here are just a few ways that I have, through experience, not only kept my dream in tact, but at the same time ever-expanded my dreams.

65
Self Development Mastermind http://www.selfdevelopmentmastermind.com

1. Find Your Dream The first thing is to have a dream. This can only be acquired if you ask yourself some serious questions. Have a conversation with yourself and ask yourself this question: If time and money were not restricted in any way, what would I do, have or be? Answer that and you will begin to unwrap not only your past, but your future and your present. 2. Hold On To Your Dream Never ever let another human being take away your dream. They may take your house, your car, your business, your bank account but as long as you hold onto your dream all those things are replaceable. 3. Share Your Dream Be selective in your sharing. For no matter what happens in your life, you need to surround yourself with a company of people who will cheer you on. By sharing your dream openly you are crystallizing it in your own mind while at the same time positioning yourself as one who is held accountable while in pursuit of your dream. 4. Secure Your Dream Unfortunately the world is full of doubters who question anyone who calls themselves a dreamer. You will hear the following: How dare you think that you can do that? What right have you to think that you can have that? Youre not qualified. You dont have the ability. Youre not sufficiently skilled or educated, and on it goes. 5. Pursue Your Dream The great thing about being in business for myself is that I dont have to ask anyones permission to succeed. I simply get an idea and then follow it. Now there have been times that I have hit roadblocks. But some of those stoppages have taught me the best lessons. So I simply get up, dust myself off and go again on the highway of successful dream fulfilment. So be alert. There are dream stealers all around you and I. They may even be in your family. But do not allow them to steal the dream that, once achieved, will even bless the thieves who endeavoured to rob you of your lifes destiny.

So many people sacrifice their dreams by giving into their small excuses. Small people make small excuses like: I dont have enough money. I dont have sufficient talent. I dont have the right connections. Im too old. Im too young. STOP! Excuses are the nooses upon which many a dying dream is hung. So the first thing you need to do is to bury your excuses. They can destroy you, 66
Self Development Mastermind http://www.selfdevelopmentmastermind.com

especially in the midst of your small beginnings, when your dream is most vulnerable. Throughout my life I have had so many reasons to stop trying, to settle for a mediocre life and to yield to the millions of excuses that bombarded my brain. For one thing, I was told time and time again that my books werent worth publishing. But as my habit is, I chose to ignore that and set about to learn how to self-publish, and have since successfully sold thousands of books internationally.

And then for someone who hasnt a clue of how to create a website, how could he own a successful web design company for well over 7 years? Heres a glimpse of just one of my small beginnings that became a reality

Amidst all his other writings in his journal, Peter G. James Sinclair, on the 29th June, 2000, for some reason, wrote this following random statement as if it appeared out of thin air: I believe that there is opportunity waiting for me in the area of websites and then underneath it he drew a square and within that square he wrote the word Website and under that a large dollar sign. It was some time later that he attended an Internet Marketing Seminar in Sydney that changed his life, and then a little later on when he was approached to write the content for a friends new business and new website. Both those events consolidated the thought of owning his own web design company. At that seminar there were three points that impacted Peters life. Those points were: sell a high ticket item, learn the language of the Internet html

67
Self Development Mastermind http://www.selfdevelopmentmastermind.com

and finally the first day you hire someone else will be the first day you will commence upon the road to becoming wealthy. So Peter came home from the seminar, having emptied his bank account to pay for both it and the resources he needed to learn more, and presented the challenge of learning html to his two eldest children. It was Ben, twelve at the time, who enthusiastically learnt html and studied the free tutorials on the Internet that had been suggested by the seminar speaker. Before Peter knew it, he had an Internet guru living under his roof. But it wasnt until October, 2003 that Peter, armed with some printed leaflets, stepped out to promote his new web design business. And on that first day he drove to Leda Drive, West Burleigh and walked from factory to factory promoting the new business. He sold five websites on that first day and returned home then to work out how he was going to fulfil what he had just promised to his new Clients, and to also find a web designer. Many of those Clients were still his web design Clients to the day seven years later when he sold that successful business.
So let me declare to you today. There is no excuse big enough to stop you from pursuing your small beginning. I challenge you to take your first tiny step forward today, and before you know it you will be half way there.

You have almost finished the Personal Success Blueprint and I hope you have learnt a lot and possibly feel slightly amazed that I was willing to give away this report for free. Then again, there is already an abundant supply of great personal success information out there, so maybe it doesnt surprise you to see a report like this for free, and you probably have read at least some of the ideas I present before. As you consume all the free information about personal success, you have to ask yourself: am I actually moving closer to my goals? This Personal Success Blueprint contains the core strategies and tactics necessary to become successful, yet most people who read this document will never realize that success. Worse still, people will continue to browse other blogs and read more and more about what it takes to be successful from blogs, and end up feeling overwhelmed, confused, frustrated and dissatisfied.

68
Self Development Mastermind http://www.selfdevelopmentmastermind.com

Why is that? Why is there so much free information online about being successful from blogs, blogging tips, advice, techniques and resources, yet only a vey small percentage can make it work? Is it because some people are just smarter than others? Is it because some people are harder workers? Maybe its just plain luck that decides who makes good money and who doesnt. Or maybe you believe only people with technical skills, or people who have the right contacts or lots of money to spend on marketing can succeed, and the rest of us are facing a constant struggle.

All the above things are contributing factors to being successful, but I believe that the real problem is a case of information overload and a lack of direction. Most people consume so much information that they become paralysed and end up doing nothing, or apply things so haphazardly that the results they get are equally random. This fuels their dissatisfaction and their sense of hopelessness. Information overload is a plague online and I know first hand how bad it is. There is a never-ending supply of information coming from the millions of blogs and information marketers pumping out content. It is just impossible to know who to trust or what to read, but there is a relatively simple solution. To deal with information overload Ive studied the advice of my mentors and then applied what I learnt to my own life. Heres what works for me

!"#$%"$=:"+?$7,@"*B06+",$F:)*1"0?$
Focus on the one problem/task you have to complete today (or even better, during the next hour), consume only the information necessary to complete that task and then test it to see if it works. Repeat this process until the problem is solved. Note what sources of information tend to be more reliable and helpful for future reference. Do not consume content just because you feel you ought to, to procrastinate or because of a sense of needing to keep up to date or to be entertained.

For most of us an hour a week reading other blogs is enough to keep abreast of the major events and even that may be wasted time, filtering through content that does nothing to help you meet your goals. 69
Self Development Mastermind http://www.selfdevelopmentmastermind.com

You must focus and screen out excess information. 99% of what you consume every day; television, radio, magazines, conversations with people, blogs and websites you read etc. is either entertainment or a distraction from what you should be doing if you want to meet goals. In other words, its all procrastination fodder.

We act like this because of a lack of direction and purpose. Information overload contributes to this feeling. Information claims to solve our problems, so we consume it only to find more compelling information referenced within. The cycle only ends when you stop consuming and start focusing on action and output. Education alone is not enough. There is a time and a place for entertainment, and certainly reading blogs for this purpose is fine, but dont let it stop you from working towards your goals. If all you do is read about other peoples success, advice or experiences, you will never create your own success, or have experiences to generate advice from to give to others. This may sound counter-intuitive, but you have to start creating your own ideas instead of consuming other peoples ideas. This doesnt mean you block out the entire world, but determine your vision. Sort out the steps necessary to get you there, and focus your energy on the immediate next step.
