NATURE, CREATION OF GOD. 10
God is creator.
God has made the universe arise, with the force that moves it and the laws
that govern it.
God has created all living beings: plants, animals, men...
Create means:
"get something out of nothing."

Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be your name, your

trespasses as we also forgive those
who trespass against us; Do not lead
us into temptation and deliver us

THE COVENANT THAT GOD AND ABRAHAM MADE
9

God thought to choose a people for the work of saving men.
This people is: the People of God.
Abraham will be the father of that people.
For a people to become the People of God, two things are needed:
THE PROMISE. On God's part.
FAITH. On the man's side.
This is what the story of Abraham tells us.
The people of Israel were waiting for God to fulfill his promise to save men.
a silent way without hardly anyone
noticing.

THE PASSAGE OF THE RED SEA
Seeing that the people had left Egypt, the king and his
courtiers became angry.
They followed the children of Israel and overtook
them.
They were camped by the sea, the people of Israel
were filled with fear.
The Egyptians followed them and entered behind them but God said:
Write things that enslave us
Write things that free us
WE SANG: Christ gives us freedom Christ gives us salvation Christ gives us hope
Christ gives us love.

WRITES: What does Easter
mean?
Jesus also celebrates Easter every year. It is on this feast, (Easter) when he dies and is
resurrected. That's why we now call it New Easter .
The people who made the pact with God are now the Church .

Jesus.

species of bread and wine.

A prophet wrote to encourage those who were
banished.
He told them that their suffering was going to save
them.
Because they suffer now, one day they will be
comforted.
If they are dead they will rise again.
He promises them salvation. They themselves will
achieve salvation for their nation through suffering. The
true vassal of God will achieve salvation for all of God's
children.
Notice how similar all this is to what happened to Jesus
before he died.
God says:
-Comfort my people, speak to
the heart of Jerusalem, shout to
it: "Slavery is over, its sins have
been forgiven.
My Savior is coming,

IN THE DIFFICULTIES
The king of Babylon ordered a courtier to choose some boys from noble families of Israel,
educated and ready, to live in the palace and learn the language of Babylon.
The king spoke with them and they remained at the king's service.

A group of Israelites continued to believe in God, despite the
difficulties. This group was called: Rest of Israel.
They trusted in the Lord even though they could not visit the
Temple or see the Ark of the Covenant because they were far

God's word!
Days come
that I will make a new covenant with
Israel and Judah. Not
like the one I did with
your parents when
you came up from
Egypt. They broke it,
even though I was their
God. I will put my law
inside him, I will write it on
his heart.
I will forgive his sin and
remember it no more. Thus
speaks the Lord
that has set the sun for daylight; the
moon and stars to illuminate the night.
Very soon the city will be rebuilt;
It will be the sacred city of
God and he will not destroy it
again.

THE BIBLE IS THE BOOK OF
GOD'S WORD
The Bible is not a book like any other, with many more or less interesting stories. It is the Book
of the word of God to communicate life to us.
The Bible is the word of God because in it God makes himself known to us and tells us what
he wants from us, throughout history, in the words, in the speeches of the prophets and with
the life and words of Jesus and his followers.
In the Old Testament we see God's action to free a people whom he wants to make his
own.
God intervenes in history through his prophets in charge of transmitting his word.
In this first part of the Bible it tells how God also makes a pact with men.

He always sends them something. " If you do this, I will defend you, I will save you, I
will be your God... " You will also see how men get tired of fulfilling what God commands them
and do not fulfill the pact they had made with him...
The main part of the New Testament are the books in which Jesus' apostles wrote what
they had seen and heard about him.
He shows us all his love and power in Jesus and tells them that those who want to be
saved must only do one thing: believe ; that is, trust in Jesus. If you trust Jesus you will be
like him, you will be his same body, you will have his same life and God will love you as he
loves Jesus.
The word Gospel means Good News.
Search the New Testament for the names of its different books and write them in the box .

Discuss with your catechesis companions:
* Why did Miguel, in the end, remain thoughtful?
Imagine that you were not convinced by your mother's response.
* What answer would you give to their question: "Why are there children who are not
happy"?
Think about a time when you encountered someone who needed help and you helped
them.
* Who was he, what was wrong with him, what did you do, why...?
That God created us "in his image and likeness" means that he made us similar to
him. And to look like him he gave us life and intelligence, the desire to live and be happy.
Men are capable of understanding , loving and being free because we resemble
God. God is the Father of all men. Men and women are brothers, like the children of the
same parents.
Everyone, everyone, everyone... we are equal.
That is, their strength, their help, their encouragement... so they can always
continue to be their children.

THE WAITING FOR THE MESSIAH
You are going to make a puzzle with pieces that represent important moments in the
history of the People of Israel.
In the center is Jesus, the long-awaited Messiah.
Jesus gives us the Good News.
Jesus invites us to take part in his Kingdom .
We are a people that walks, that marches through the world looking for another city.
We are wandering pilgrims in search of a destination, a destination of unity. We will
always be walkers, because, only by walking, we will be able to reach another city that
never ends, without pain or sadness: city of eternity.
