Information about the institution Dronten University of Applied Sciences, member of the Association of professional Universities in Agriculture, is situated in the centre of the Netherlands. In this reclaimed area, the polder province of Flevoland, about 1,300 professionals prepare for their careers in the knowledge domains of Food Production, Trade and Logistics, Leisure and Animal Management and Rural and Urban Environments. The international courses are just as varied, with students arriving from many countries worldwide. Every year 150 students with some 20 different nationalities live and work together on campus in Dronten. The English-language degree courses train for Chain Management, Agri (Food) Business, EU Studies and Structural Funds Management, as well as technological studies in Biotechnology, Horticulture and Animal Science. Education at DUAS is competency based; students have to show the competencies they have gained during studies in a "proof of proficiency". An example of such a proof of proficiency can be a quality management advise for a food processing company, in case of the chain management course. Entrepreneurs, consultants, policy makers and others from the world of work are involved in the assessment of the proof of proficiency. Students finalise their studies with a 3,5 months placement and thesis work, in The Netherlands or anywhere else in the world. After graduation, it will take the student 1 to 1,5 years to obtain an MSc degree. Course type Undergraduate non-degree course Diploma
