The Pastors Message

by Pastor Hector de Guzman

THE WORKS COLOSSIANS 3:23-25
Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, 24since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. 25Anyone who does wrong will be repaid for his wrong, and there is no favoritism.

Opening Prayer Call to Worship Welcome Praise and Worship Sermon - Pastor Hector de Guzman Tithes and Offerings Announcements Benediction Closing Song

WHY DO I WORK?
I. Some people work for money. We want to make our lives and our families more comfortable. We want to provide the necessities of life. That is a valid reason. II. Others work for opportunity. Advancement and ambition motivates them. Someone once told me, The reward for a job well done is a better job. Whether it means moving to another job or obtaining a promotion within ones present company, many strive toward greater opportunity. Nothing wrong with that! III. Respect is another reason people work. Many want the admiration that good jobs bring. Having power and authority on the job and attention from acquaintances and friends. That's work?

BIBLICAL OVERVIEW:
Have you ever realized that you can give things to God that are of value to Him? Or are you just sitting around daydreaming about the greatness of His redemption, while neglecting all the things you could be doing for Him? I'm not referring to works which could be regarded as divine and miraculous, but ordinary, simple human things - things which would be evidence to God that you are totally surrendered to Him. Oswald Chambers

I. God is a Worker. (Genesis 1:1). God did not stop working after Creation. II. God created people to be his co-workers. (Genesis 2:15) Created in Gods image, we must be workers, too. III. The Bible does not differentiate between secular and sacred work. (Colossians 3:23) No distinction.
