Project Experience at School: MODEM and DSP applications in MATLAB

o BPSK and QPSK Modem Simulated a complex base band modulator, simple channel and a receiver, the channel will introduce a small frequency offset and add additive white noise. Raised Root Cosine filter is used to shape the base band signal. Receiver down converts and de-spins the received signal with a complex sinusoid obtained from a DDS (Direct Digital Converter) controlled by a PLL (phase lock loop) driven in turn from a phase detector following the receiver matched filter this is the timing recovery loop. o OFDM Modem Simulated an OFDM Modem in MATLAB using 802.11 spec. Identified the modem performance for empty guard band, guard band filled with cyclic prefix. Channel synchronization and estimation using short and long preamble. Cross and Auto correlation is of the preamble sequence is use to synchronize the channel; comparing the ratio of cross and auto correlation with a threshold value to detect the start of frame.
