Prepare the airplane for maintenance. A. B. C. Electrically ground the airplane. Make sure that all switches are in the OFF/NORM position. Disconnect electrical power from the airplane. (1) (2) D. Disconnect external electrical power. Disconnect the airplane battery.

Attach maintenance warning tags to the battery and external power receptacle that have "DO NOT CONNECT ELECTRICAL POWER - MAINTENANCE IN PROGRESS" written on them.

2.

(Refer to Figure 1, Detail A.) Do an inspection of the specied areas of the engine mount that follow to see if there is sufcient paint coverage. (Refer to the Model 208 Structural Repair Manual, Chapter 51, Corrosion - Repair.) NOTE: Cessna has issued this service bulletin because some engine mounts may have come from the factory and/or Customer Service Parts and Programs with one or more areas where there is not sufcient paint coverage. The Cessna recommended Maintenance Manual annual inspection already has an engine mount paint and corrosion inspection that should capture areas where there is not sufcient paint. This service bulletin has been issued to emphasize the already required inspection. A. B. Do an inspection of all bore areas for areas where there is not sufcient paint coverage. Do an inspection of all welded joint areas where there is not sufcient paint coverage. Do an inspection of all clevis areas for areas where there is not sufcient paint coverage. If all of the inspection areas are sufciently painted and there is no corrosion, go to Step 3. If one or more of the areas are not sufciently painted and there is no corrosion, do as follows: (Refer to the Model 208 Maintenance Manual, Chapter 20, Interior and Exterior Finish - Cleaning/Painting.) (1) As necessary to apply paint, remove engine mount attach bolts one at a time. Discard the nuts and keep the bolts. Use an engine hoist to support the engine while each bolt is removed. NOTE: You will remove only one engine mount attach bolt at a time and then install it again before you remove another engine mount attach bolt. (2) (3) Clean the surface area in accordance with Chapter 20 of the maintenance manual. With a brush, apply primer to the area. NOTE: Depending on air temperature and humidity, the primer can take up to six hours to dry. (4) (5) (6) C. Apply paint to the area. Install the kept engine mount attach bolts with the new MS20365-720C Nuts. After all areas are sufciently painted and all engine mount attach bolts installed, remove the engine hoist. Go to Step 3.

If one or more of the areas are not sufciently painted and there is corrosion, do as follows: (1) As necessary to repair damage and apply paint, remove engine mount attach bolts one at a time. Discard the nuts and keep the bolts. Use an engine hoist to support the engine while each bolt is removed. NOTE: You will remove only one engine mount attach bolt at a time and then install it again before you remove another engine mount attach bolt.

(a) If the damage is within repairable limits, do as follows: 1 Repair the damage. (Refer to the Model 208 Structural Repair Manual, Chapter 51, Corrosion - Repair.) NOTE: To remove corrosion in areas where it is not easy to get access, you can use a berglass spot-sanding pen or an emery cloth to remove light surface corrosion. 2 3 Clean the surface area in accordance with Chapter 20 of the maintenance manual. With a brush, apply primer to the area. NOTE: Depending on air temperature and humidity, the primer can take up to six hours to dry. 4 5 (b) Apply paint to the area. Go to Step 3.

If there is severe corrosion and the damage is not within repairable limits, contact Cessna Customer Care at 316-517-5800 for disposition.
