1. What is leading? Why leading important to the manager?

Leading is a management function involves influencing others to engage in the work behavior necessary to reach organizational goals. Leading is important to the manager because he is the one who is managing a group, and expected to maintain effective work forces and able to influence others because of the power they possess. 2. How do leading influence others? Leaders influence others by the use of their power. If they have the power, their members or subordinates will easily believe them and follow them what ever they say. 3. What is meant by referent power? Provide an example. Referent power is a power possessed by a leader in which a person can get compliance from another because the latter would want to be identified with the former. 4. It is important that the leaders have the desire to lead because it is one of the primary qualifications of goal leaders. If the leaders have the desire to lead they will always have a reservoir of extra efforts which can be useful especially during critical moments. If the said desired is not with the leader, the leaders will not b effective because their efforts will be half hearted.

5. Charisma a personality refers to a person who has efficient personal magnetism that motivates people to follow his directives. Yes, it is necessary

ingredient for leadership because it will help the leader in achieving his goals. If the leader ha the charisma, the subordinates maybe expected to do their task willingly. 6. Human skills refer to the ability of the leader to interact with people inside and outside of the organization. These skills help the leaders because it teaches how to get along with people, motivate them and inspire them. 7. Positive leadership, it is when the leaders approach emphasizes rewards. But in negative leadership the leaders emphasizes punishment.

8. Free rein leaders are leaders who set objects who set objectives and allow employees or subordinates relative freedom to do whatever it takes to accomplish those objectives. Fire rein leaders are appropriate in the profession of doctors and engineers.

9. If the situation does not fit the leader, we can either change the leaders traits or behavior, select leaders who have traits or behavior fitting the situation move leaders around in the organization until they are in position that fit them, and change the situation. 10. The leadership style used by path- goal proponents in either directive leadership, supportive leadership, participative leadership or achievement oriented leadership.
