edited 1/24/2013 4:47 PM Dominican University | Graduate School of Library and Information Science LIS 753-99 Internet Fundamentals and Design MIDTERM ASSESSMENT The midterm assessment is a demonstration of your cumulative markup skills learned to date. It is worth ten (10) points. What you must do Teen Tech Week (TTW) is March 10-16 this year, and the theme is Check In @ your library. Youve been tasked with developing a couple of web pages to showcase TTW for your hypothetical institution. Create a main page and a secondary page that together focus on your institutions TTW activities. Include all the requirements below. See the TTW ning at http://teentechweek.ning.com/ for resources, but use resources from other sites as you see fit. What I will look for 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10. Two (2) linked original HTML documents with doctype and meta tags AND one (1) style sheet Hidden comments in your markup and CSS; include at least one (1) comment in each of your three (3) documents At least 200 words of text, including the use of structural and semantic markup elements At least one (1) list with style rules in the style sheet At least one (1) external link with style rules in the style sheet CSS for body, heading(s), paragraph, list(s), and links to include at least color, font-family, font-size, and class At least one (1) image with alt attribute on each page At least one (1) table with a minimum of two (2) rows and two (2) columns At least one (1) form element with a minimum of two (2) different inputs At least one (1) instance of video or audio

How to get your points Double check your work before submitting it to be sure you have included all the requirements. Use the validators to catch any errors in your markup and CSS. Once you are satisfied with your work, email the URL for your main page to Professor Hamerly: dhamerly@dom.edu. Email the URL for your completed midterm work by 9:00 A.M. CST Wednesday, February 27.

Special instructions and notes Do not post your work to the class site. You are on your honor to do the work for the midterm independently. Do not link your work for the midterm from your index.html page or from any page created as part of an exercise. Give your main page a name that is unique to you and your hypothetical institution. For example, give your institution a name that is not your name but is unique to you as best you can, perhaps from a family name or a favorite character, such as the Ishmael Township Public Library. Name your main page based on the institution name: itpl.html. Your secondary page name doesnt matter, as it will be linked from your main page. Email me the full URL for your main page: http://www.yourdomainname.com/mainpagename.html. (But dont call your main page mainpagename.html! See bullet above.) Many of you will be concerned about formatting tables, forms, and media to make your sites pretty. Dont worry about that right now. We will spend the rest of the semesterafter this midtermon just that. Right now focus on getting in all the requirements in standard markup and basic CSS. Be as creative as you like, but know that Im less concerned with pretty and more concerned with correct. So, keep it simple.
